season1
On 10/18/2020 at 10:56 PM, bradberynews said: I’m just unsure what changed, because it must’ve taken at least a couple weeks to get okayed, recorded and gotten ready to release. Usually her team and BMLG is pretty on top of that stuff which is why I have so many questions. I guess we’ll find out soon. Billboard Country Update mentioned the F-150 "competition" on page 12 in its "Music Notes" section: Quote Two versions of new Warner Music Nashville artist Robyn Ottolini’s “F-150” have apparently had a head-on collision. The Canadian native’s signing was announced Oct. 8, and her TikTok signature “F-150” — co-written by her managers, Mark Schroor and Erik Fintelman — was eyed as a likely single. Big Machine released a cover by Danielle Bradbery on Oct.16 via PlayMPE, with at least one website, newcountrysongs.com, uploading a video. Competing singles occurred frequently in the 1950s and ’60s and happened as recently as 1997, when Trisha Yearwood and LeAnn Rimes simultaneously worked “How Do I Live.” But songwriters have some protection through first-use licenses. Schroor asserted a copyright claim to have Bradbery’s version removed from newcountrysongs.com, and Big Machine sent PlayMPE a takedown request the weekend of Oct. 17-18. Neither label nor Schroor responded to requests to clarify the “F-150” competition. I still don't understand why Danielle and her team cut her version of F-150 when they just released "Girls in my Hometown" a couple weeks ago. I was expecting that since they stopped pushing NHIE to radio (as seen in its quick drop from leader stations' airplay), they would start pushing GIMH next. Maybe Danielle should start promoting and releasing snippets of her songs on TikTok. Album cuts or unreleased songs like Potential, Layin Low, Room for Two, Shot of Whiskey, MWAL, so many more. Who knows, maybe a song or two will go viral.
BogoGog24
That's not the only strange thing. Girls in My Hometown is also missing from her "Complete Collection" playlist. What a huge oversight by her team not to include her latest single on a "complete collection" playlist SMH

That’s how it shows on my computer but my phone app seems to still have the song. I’m sure the person they missed will give clearance for the song shortly and it’ll be back up soon. I actually don't know if it will go back up at all. Robyn (the original artist) will be using it as her debut single and because of that is why the song likely got pulled in the first place.

Yeah after reading the article a few posts above, I had that same thought, which is unfortunate because I really like her cover.

It was there the pther day, and I just checked again today, GIMH is still there. (F-150 was also there the other day but has now been removed). Maybe you have to refresh the playlist? I listened to both versions and it's unfortunate that they had to withdraw Danielle's version. I enjoyed the production and vocals of the cover. I hope they did not pull out NHIE for F-150, since it was cancelled eventually also. I'm not sure how it happened but not surprised that it will be claimed considering Robyn was just recently signed with a major label (Warner) through this viral hit, and would make sense that they would have this as her launching single. Releasing a cover by Danielle on youtube is ok but her releasing a recorded version and sent to radio, with the original artist also promoting it on radio and has good playlisting on Spotify, is not a good look for DB's team. This is just speculation on my part but it is possible they they decided on F-150 (instead of GIMH) to follow NHIE. The decision would have been made weeks ago and at that time, Robyn's label was not announced yet. Maybe they gave the go-ahead to DB's team and when Warner signed her, they backed out and had one of the co-writers make the copyright claim. We don't know what exactly happened so I would not blame DB team just yet for the mix-up. I hope they push GIMH to radio now. Or release RFT and send it to radio.
almondbee
I love GIMH more now and I hope we will get a music video for this Also, her cover of Slow Burn was added to Acoustic Covers playlist (3.6M followers) on Spotify and now having around 12k+ daily streams from about 1k daily before this. This song might just appear on her Top Song list on her spotify profile soon enough as it is streaming better than MYM and NHIE currently.

This makes sense, but it’s hard to say what happened with none of the parties involved saying much. I guess Robyn liked a tweet around the same time that it was released for purchase about BM being shady. So that’s the only reason I’ve been leaning more towards DB’s team being responsible. But like I said, we don’t know what happened.

I received a radio traks survey of Danielle's cover on the day her youtube video came out. I don't think it makes her team look good, Robyn was already assigned to a label when they sent the song to radio to survey Edited October 25, 2020 by christine58

But like I said, we don’t know what happened. Two singers releasing the same song apparently is not uncommon in the old days, according to an article on the recent Billboard Country Update, though it has not happened in a long time. The last time it happened was in 1997 with both Trisha Yearwood and Leann Rimes releasing "How Do I Live". I guess if it wasn't planned to be Robyn's debut single (and Danielle had not totally own the song), they could have let both versions exist and compete. Not excusing or blaming anyone, but I wish they have put more effort in pushing GIMH or other Danielle originals like Potential, RFT or SOW. I hope they can move on from this quickly and promote other Danielle songs soon.
