The Challenge is joining the Rankdown family! The Challenge (originally known as Road Rules: All Stars, followed by Real World/Road Rules Challenge) is a reality game show on MTV that is spun off from two of the network's reality shows, The Real World and Road Rules. Originally featuring alumni from these two shows, casting for The Challenge has slowly expanded to include contestants who debuted on The Challenge itself, alumni from other MTV franchises including Are You The One?, Ex On The Beach (Brazil, UK, and US), Geordie Shore and from other non-MTV shows like Survivor, Big Brother, The Amazing Race, and Love Island! The contestants compete against one another in various extreme challenges to avoid elimination and win a cash prize. These reality stars are the craziest and most competitive yet, so they will have to truly be brutally cutthroat to win this season of The Challenge. I will be expecting the rankers to be just as ruthless and manipulative as the players on The Challenge. This game is about physical and social strategy, and I expect everyone to play to get the winner they want and expect. We are in the whopping 35th season of The Challenge, and this will be the best season yet! Welcome to The Challenge: Reality Royalty Rankdown! THE RULES We will have a predetermined amount of mentors that will embark on a mission to collectively rank every contestant from The Challenge. At the beginning of the round, random.org will determine the order the rankers will nominate. Whoever is chosen to nominate first will nominate a predetermined amount of contestants and the other mentors will have 24 hours to save one and eliminate one (unless specified otherwise). To eliminate and save once the nominations have been revealed, it's first come first serve so get to it fast! Since this is a ranking, you should prepare a write-up for whoever you're cutting to explain your reasoning (they don't have to be too long, I expect just a minimum of 100 words). Each write-up should include a video, a picture, or a gif! After decisions have been made on the group of contestants, the next mentor on random.org will begin the same nomination process - nominate a predetermined number of contestants (Restriction: you can not nominate anyone who was just saved in the last set of cuts) and the other mentors will save one and eliminate one. We will cycle through all the rankers until they have all nominated and then the cycle will end. At the beginning of each new cycle, I will reveal any pre-planned twists to the round, and we will also create a new nominating order from random.org when necessary. Once the nominations are posted, you will have 24 hours to make your cut and save. If you do not make your cut in time (unless you inform me and I deem your excuse worthy), you will receive a strike and whoever made the nominations can make the cut and save. Three strikes and you're out, and I will name a new ranker in your place if necessary. If you want to get your cut in right when you see the nominations but want to take some time for your write-up, you can post who you're cutting and saving, and then you will have half an hour to make a new post with your write-up. However, the contestants are back up for grabs if you take too long to edit. When I say half an hour, I mean 30 minutes - no exceptions. If you make your cut and save at 7:25pm EDT, you have until 7:55pm EDT to post your write-up. Another ranker cannot swoop in and take your cut and save until 7:56pm EDT! YOU CAN RESET YOUR TIME ONLY ONCE IF YOU ARE WORKING ON YOUR WRITE-UP FOR A LONG TIME. Make sure all your nominees are within the confines of the twists and the rules of the game (i.e. no one who has already been eliminated or was saved last round are among your nominees). If this rule is broken, the round resets and you will have to completely renominate. Please do not create a mess. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EDITING ALLOWED ON YOUR POST WHEN YOU ARE CUTTING AND SAVING. IF YOU EDIT THAT POST FOR ANY REASON AT ALL, YOUR CUT AND SAVE IS NULL AND VOID! Last but not least, please respect each other’s opinions - they are called opinions for a reason. FUN sass and banter are allowed and encouraged, but please do not get seriously mad at each other. I promise you no one from this cast or any cast is ever worth it. #NoHateSince98 (first year of The Challenge) TO PLAY You do not have to have seen every season of the show, but I am expecting a broad knowledge of the show to participate. This game will inevitably end up getting cutthroat and big dogs and favorites WILL GET CUT! If this does not sound like your kind of game, don't sign up. I expect people to play The Challenge like the degenerates of the actual show. Great social and mental strategy is the goal. DEALS ARE ENCOURAGED. I expect you to be active enough so that you can write about 100 words about one contestant every 24 hours. If you don't think you can log on once a day to do so, do not sign up. If you plan on going on vacation or being away for a while, just let me know and I can get a substitution for you while you are away. There will be an application you have to fill out so I can make sure the rankers have diverse preferences. However, I do plan on choosing rankers who have seen the most seasons to participate or first come, first serve, so EVERYONE APPLY. You do not have to even be super active on the boards to play! If you are a more mysterious poster, that might make it easier for you to hide your faves and help them sneak through the cracks. It'll also make the game so much more interesting and unexpected!
