  1. Wasn't gonna watch because Kelly wasn't returning, but I'm back upon hearing Jazmine Sullivan (my absolute fav) is an advisor lol. For that reason only I am rooting for team Legend, although he's my second favorite coach anyway, after Kelly.
  2. Jaden B. Gray. This man needs to be famous. He's 21/22 but singing like he's gone through some stuff. Been stanning him ever since I learned of him even though he makes me feel MEGA inferior as a fellow vocalist. Doesn't help that he's also younger than I am Listen to the whole video y'all. The head voice part... He didn't serve, he owns the restaurant
  3. Apart from the fact that she's not African American, even though Tessanne Chin has Black heritage, she fully passes for an Asian woman. Like people who didn't already know her wouldn't say she's Black when asked to describe her, which is fine and doesn't invalidate her Black heritage. But seeing as prejudice is exercised virtually all of the time based off of somebody's phenotype, I would not use her as a representative example of a Black winner of the show, as she doesn't go through life exactly the same as how unambiguously Black women do. It's sad to say but I fully doubt that she would have won the show if she were a dark-skinned, unambiguously Black Jamaican woman. This show and the USA in general need to do better...
  4. Can't believe I just found out that no female African American artist has ever been on The Voice. Not one. In the 21st century. It's giving discrimination for me
  5. The Wikipedia people are hella quick with it, the results are already updated on the main page lol. Anyway congrats to Kelly for officially becoming the coach with the best track record on the show We stan a wholesome queen who can flat foot sing
  6. It's been a good fun time y'all. Now waiting for the vote tally lmao cuz they were being sus with the leak
  7. The gag that I'm feeling in my throat right now at Hailey being in 4th place Like I knew she wasn't gonna win, I'd just thought she would have placed higher.
  8. I can't believe Blake bussed Wendy himself with this song choice. smh
  9. yoooo she lowkey sounded better live than she did on the studio version during the ad
  10. OK THE WINNER OF THE VOICE SEASON 21 IS MISS KEKE PALMER. I DID NOT KNOW MISS GIRL COULD SANGGGGG LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I'm curious to see how she's gonna perform this song, seeing as more than half of it is just cussing and crapping on science deniers. lol
  12. I completely agree. None of them would have made it past the battles if they had gone into this competition solo. Which I think they're completely aware of, that's why they're here as a group after all.
  13. On another note, congratulations to Kelly Clarkson for inventing Christmas AND winning The Voice season 21.
  14. Really? I thought Josh sounded the best out of the 3 of them during "The Chain." Caleb was shaky, yes, but so was Bekah/Thomas. She really needs to work on her support when it comes to high notes. Unless you're talking about the ballad, which I haven't heard because I don't have cable so am still waiting for them to upload the rest of the performances on YouTube
  15. Am I the only one who really liked Hailey's performance of "deja vu"? I thought it showed a side of hers we hadn't really seen before: vulnerable, emotional aggression. And she sounded good! The only critique I have is that her falsetto is relatively weak so her flips to falsetto from her chest voice sound a little awkward at times. Other than that, I can't really complain.
  16. That's covered in "a good team." But while that's been true, there are also cases like Lil Nas X who rose to fame with a track that went viral on SoundCloud and barely any connections. Social media has made it easier for people to get famous nowadays, with a good track or at least one that appeals to people on social media. Also on the flip side, The Voice contestants do have connections after all with their coaches, e.g. Kelly Clarkson offering to have them be on her show all the time. But without a good song, does anybody really listen to them?
  17. I simply think "whatever it takes to make it big" nowadays is a good song and/or a good team. People who come out of The Voice usually have neither... Plus, music competitions don't have the effect they did in the 2000s anymore; I feel like people almost take artists less seriously now upon knowing they came out of a music competition show. Sad but the harsh truth is talent doesn't mean much in the mainstream music landscape.
  18. I'm weak. Somebody made it look like Ariana has also been eliminated on the Wikipedia page I mean I guess they're not wrong...
  19. It's deeper than that. "Piece by Piece" was written about her ex-husband for raising the bar for men after she was treated like crap by her dad. Turned out the bar was fake and her ex was trash too. But anyway it deals with a touchy topic, especially considering she just went through her divorce not long ago. "I Dare You" is just a neutral song that isn't that personal.
  20. A little unrelated to the topic at hand: I wasn't here prior to this season; I'm kind of curious what the IDF reception was toward John Holiday of season 19, if any of y'all remembers it? Or could anybody tell me where to find it?
  21. I don't think they're flipping off people for not voting them through. It's just a Gen Z thing to flip off the camera now. It's a pose that young people do right now, doesn't necessarily mean anything. I do that sometimes so I get it
