I feel like Hailey has a great chance at the win narrative-wise so I'm wondering why there would be a meltdown? Is it some ageism thing? Given how people speak of the contestants, I think the polarizing win might be Lana, the general tone seems to be accepting of J&S being very much a wildcard and their appealing points (to the demographic) are apparent. I am struggling to understand though why people say GNT or Hailey not winning is better career-wise, is that because of the record deal that's part of the winnings? So runner-up might actually be the better outcome for these two?

I thought of Ariana performing as well if she doesn't get a finalist. Would it be so odd? They can then milk as much as they can out of her talent fee and maybe her fans will watch because she's performing on her own

Honestly my assumption ends at J&S doing a song in the vein of Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift, which would not be a surprise. Possibly a collab song of some sort. Can't take it further than that. Everyone's being so mum this week, bummer. Holly would have given us three decipherable clues by now.

I chose done, but I'm aware they're a wildcard. They're that cute, laidback act casuals might like as a breather in between power vocals. They get the votes when it doesn't become too apparent what they lack in dynamics. They have an outside chance that relies quite a bit on song choice and on how others perform. So I say done, but I won't be surprised if they suddenly get a PV. Monday will tell.

GNT is a lock, Wendy and Paris are consistent enough to be voted through. Hailey and J&S have the potential to be voted through with the right song choices. Hailey has been consistent, needs a song with glory notes to seal the deal -- she definitely can get casual votes in the bag. J&S is the wildcard PV. They rely on the right song choice to catch casuals and their own fanbase, plus that other performances are underwhelming enough. T11 was difficult for them because a lot of people had very good moments there that a simple strummy song couldn't get them through. If J&S don't get PV, I don't see them advancing via IS. Jershika won't get a PV, likely, but she can muscle through the IS by outsinging Joshua, Lana, J&S. So, to summarize: PV: GNT, Wendy, Paris, Hailey/J&S (PV only) IS: Jershika (without Hailey in IS)/Hailey (if unable to get PV and T3 are voted through)

Q: is it just the contestants working out the duets or do the coaches get involved, too?

I do want to say, I feel for Ariana. Gets criticized left and right, and by her own fans at that. The things some of them say... it's been awful. She shouldn't do another show like this, where her fans don't understand how the show works and blames her/says she's acting, like she's not the one actually getting to know these people and working with them.

It's so funny to me how the narrative now is probably, "will Blake get 2 or 3 finalists?!" when I was so sure Kelly would have the intact team. My bad. Neither am I counting out J&S if they tug at casuals' heartstrings in the right way.

I'm really sad to see you go, Holly. Love your voice, I'll forever mourn not seeing you do an Adele song on the show. Life gives us the short end of the stick sometimes but I hope and believe that this is just one chapter to close in your journey and that you'll be in our radios in the years to come.

J&S and GNT are stylistically close but the blend I don't think will work. They'll pair with a soloist each (at least I think they should). I just want Wendy & Jershika, the rest can sort themselves out

Jershika won that easily and I think I even predicted it which, I'm so sorry, Holly, it's been tough luck for you. I'm so sorry, too, Jeremy. It is what it is but at least you made Top 10, and at least you turned in better performances. This also reinforces my belief that Ariana's pull is not enough. J&S are getting through because the casuals like them as long as they turn in decent performances. John better give Jershika a good song, she has a shot at the finale.

Y'all I'm just going to say I absolutely hate that any of these 3 are even here ugh although I recognize someone has to be. It's just awful to go out on this week where they're not singing the way they usually sing.

Can The Voice pull an X-Factor and put these three in a group and they can all advance that would still make 8

People need to chill, lol. (Even though I'm not, I'm scared for several people.) Also I remain skeptical of Ariana's voting power still, especially by how much her fans dislike Sasha. But J&S raw numbers support this outcome. Also people are completely discounting the fact that there are a lot of people out there who might just like their style.
