  1. Wildfire movie delayed again for the nth time with no new release date; it was scheduled for release April 19. According to Hannover House blogspot, the reason is to coordinate with the upcoming streaming release. Below is their explanation:

Regarding WILDFIRE, the film's April 19 theatrical launch is further delayed due to timing issues relating to the film's major studio streaming venture. The theatrical release cannot occur earlier than 60-days prior to the Studio streaming premiere... so we are forced to acquiesce to their schedule. There's a lot of money involved, so following the studio lead is a no-brainer.  https://hannoverhousemovies.blogspot.com/2024/03/hhse-updates-per-shareholder-requests.html

Chevel will have gone from a 16-year-old girl to a young married lady before her first filmed movie is ever released. No wonder she didn't mention it during her interview last month.

  2. In late February Chevel appeared with two others in an hour long interview on "Colt's Balok's A Night With the Stars in Gallup." The other two were Drew Gehling ("Jersey Boys" and TV/stage) and Jeremiah Bitsui ("Breaking Bad," "Better Call Saul" and TV/movies). Chevel discusses some new projects and reminisces on her life since "The Voice." No big reveals except she's getting married in June (to Junior Garcia). She's still doing music, writing but also acting. She mentioned the movie Vengeance by name (but not Wildfire) and that she was filming a movie in Socorro and was the lead, but no name or other info (of course other than Hollywood or maybe Atlanta, Albuquerque and New Mexico are the next big locations for TV streaming and movie productions).

You can view the entire interview at the YouTube link below or just her segments at 7:35, 8:50, 13:20, 19:00, 45:50 and 50:10 where she sings an a cappella duet with drew. There is also a second shorter link of her and the others out and about in Gallup before the evening interview.

It's finally happening! The movie Chevel starred in finally has a premiere date and a nation wide theatrical release schedule.

    From Director Eric Parkinson's Instagram:

Exciting news: WILDFIRE World Premiere Nov. 2nd (Lone Star Film Festival); Awards-qualifying run Dec. 1st (Los Angeles); Nationwide theatrical release Jan. 26 (1,100+ locations). It's been a long journey, but success is our reward! Thanks to our cast, crew and Hannover House friends for persevering to make this happen!

Here's a link to the Lone Star Film Festival in Fort Worth, Tx. Unfortunately the film will not be eligible for any awards at the festival.

Delayed once again. According to Parkinson in a blogspot update on Saturday, January 20, additional distribution sponsors have come on board, made editing suggestions and will provide distribution in many more theaters. The new expected release date is now April 19. Before then "POSTERS / LOBBY BANNERS / TRAILERS and ads will start being visible (and with increasing momentum) by early March." https://hannoverhousemovies.blogspot.com/2024/01/terrific-action-on-wildfire-and-other.html

The film has been in the can since Spring of 2020 and the delays required reshooting some previous scenes with then young children as new footage added since then due to a cast change would otherwise highlight their growth.

  4. Hannover House has posted a long European-style trailer of Wildfire for the CANNES 2023 Film Festival. The screening is to take place there Sunday night, May 21. They say the movie will be released to theaters this summer but it's been over three long years of their saying it's almost ready. Excuses include Covid and needing to reshoot certain scenes due to some players being no longer pre-teens (ha)! Again, we shall see.

  5. In other news, Chevel's other movie "Wildfire - Legend of the Cherokee Ghost Horse" has been delayed for at least the fourth time. Now IMDB has it in late March 2023. Earlier dates were April, September and December of this year. In a blog post last Friday, Hannover House said that some scenes were needed to be re-shot because the young actors had grown since principal filming in 2019, but promises the release soon. Of course scenes with Anne Heche cannot be re-shot but CGI is available if needed. The link has many pictures with Chevel and the other actors:

Here is the first Wildfire "teaser-trailer":

  6. On her Facebook page, she has two pictures of herself and a young man with the caption "i love you, and this life with you ❤️." It's obvious the love bug has bitten! There was also a public comment by her (I believe since removed) in response to a Facebook comment that she has not given up her music but that there are lots of things going on with her life right now.

  7. Chevel's movie, Wildfire: The Legend of the Cherokee Ghost Horse is scheduled for release on Friday, September 16. We'll see if it makes that date as earlier dates have passed.

In the meantime, they have released a music video of the song Wildfire with a dedication to Anne Heche who perished in that horrible car crash several weeks ago. The video includes scenes from the movie. The link to the video is presented below.

She just needs to figure out how to maximize her exposure. She’s one hell of a live performer. That should count for something. She also never talks about the business side with her fans, or really much of anything, so who knows what she has going on behind the scenes? 🤷‍♂️ She’s always kept everything pretty close to the vest. At her shows, it sounds like she says more, but she has fans all over the world, who can’t attend her shows, so….

When she introduced “Good Boy” she dedicated it to her parents and the tone of remarks were that she may be involved with someone her parents didn’t necessarily approve of. But then again, I may be misinterpreting   …

Chevel had another 4th of July show tonight. I’m getting the impression there was bit of a weather problem. I see umbrellas, rain coats and nasty clouds in the videos I’ve looked at. Her show may have even been cut short, and it probably negatively affected attendance.

Anyway, I’ll post this link, because it’s a bit of a divergence from what we usually hear from Chevel.

    “Firework” - Katy Perry

The audio isn’t the best, but she clearly handled it without any trouble.

I drove up to Los Alamos from the ABQ area and wisely brought an umbrella. The late afternoon/early evening had occasional light showers that diminished as the evening went on. Indeed, attendance was hampered by the rain and some there left shortly after she began as the rain was heaviest then but ended well before she finished. She gave her usual full throated performance to the delight of those that remained. She performed the two unreleased songs mentioned above plus Looking for Loretta. There were some from her first album and covers from her performance on The Voice. She added Blue to the performance set along with Little White Church to cheers from the audience. Of the new songs, Snakes was a favorite and Good Boy and Just Like the Circus, which are videos, were applauded. Chattahoochee, Tin Man and Blue Moon of Kentucky were audience favorites. Another one she added was Patsy Cline’s Walking After Midnight which she said she practiced every Tuesday in the event she was eliminated.

Mom and Dad were there of course and I bought her album. She introduced the new lead guitar player (name I didn’t catch); it was his second show (after Farmington Saturday) and he plays a mean guitar. Bookings are slow, nothing else immediately upcoming. So far I’ve seen three of her shows - Last July in Roswell, Santa Fe in April and this one. I have a friend in Lancaster and stayed at his house in May and in return bought tickets for his son and lady friend for her California show. He texted me afterward, “Great show. She was fantastic, thanks again!” Chevel never disappoints and the rain didn’t shorten her show. As always, she meets her fans and signs autographs and her CD’s. Shuttle buses from the park to the parking lots in White Rock and Los Alamos ran late due to the long line of fans waiting to greet her. Any time she’s close by here in New Mexico, I’ll make an effort to attend - she’s my county favorite!

I agree. When you listen to videos from her shows, it’s obvious how talented she is. Nobody else sounds like her, and she literally never goes off pitch. She’s actually gotten much better, and more versatile over the past couple years. She was also extremely driven at the time. Based on what others said, she was constantly practicing, and pretty much outworked everyone. She also had this confident swagger that you don’t often see in someone of that age competing against adults.

Hmm - I've tried to view the video and get the error "Video Unavailable." It had over 860,000 views so lots watched it. Any ideas as to how to view it? I've tried some internet suggestions including "Subscribe" without luck. It may have been taken down but the link is still available.

Yes she is pretty good! I drove up to Santa Fe from SE NM to see her concert. A full two hours of her singing with just a ten-minute intermission. Songs included those from her first album, several from her upcoming second album later this year, a cover from her run on the Voice ("Little White Church") and a few classic country western songs (Chattahoochee, Cowboy's Sweetheart, Red Neck Woman, and my favorite Blue Moon of Kentucky). The venue was a restored movie theater (The Lensic) which is used for first class concerts, operas, plays and similar entertainment so there was no room for dancing but the crowd made plenty of noise in response to her singing. Her schedule so far this year is slim but should be filled out a bit more going forward. BTW, her "Wildfire" movie scheduled for April 15 has been postponed again to mid-September.

One of her delayed movies now has a release date. She hasn’t been announced yet, but she’s clearly part of the cast, based on all of the evidence I laid out several months ago. And now, she posted this. Now, we’re just waiting on Wildfire, and also whether anything comes of that “Hair” project with Kenny Ortega. Covid basically delayed everything for TWO YEARS. ☹️

From another link, filming took place in Albuquerque in early 2020 but was shut down until late January 2021. Film crews for movies and TV series are always filming scenes there and in the Sandia mountains east of the city as the area is forested with elevations over 7000 feet, but travel to ABQ is only 30-40 minutes. And ABQ is only a couple of hours drive from Chevel's home in Farmington so it's easy for her to participate if cast.

  13. I did a bit of research at Hannover House to see the status of Chevel's movie "Wildfire." From their January 9 blog:

6).  WILDFIRE POST-PRODUCTION – Edit assembly of this family-appeal feature is on track for completion during the first week of February, which will kick-in approx 4-weeks for Michael Martin Murphey to add his original music score at the same time as the dialogue cut and sound-effects editing are being completed. The film's final theatrical mix will occur in Los Angeles during the first week of March for delivery to our major studio distribution partner on or about March 15, 2022. Exciting times!

  14. Chevel posted on Facebook yesterday that her first show of the year will be at the Lensic in Santa Fe on Friday, April 8. Info and tickets available at
    https://lensic.org/events/chevel-shepherd/

"With bold sincerity and a sparrow’s natural instincts, Chevel sings modern country music that toes tradition’s best lines. For her debut EP Everybody’s Got a Story, the 17-year-old hand-picked intricately woven story songs and relatable gems with veteran savvy––then made them irrevocably her own. "

The Lensic is a world class performance venue. Scroll through the events scheduled ( https://lensic.org/events ) to the see the eclectic variety of entertainment there. When I lived in Santa Fe in the 1980's it was just another theater but has been reborn as a performing arts center.

  16. Five of the ten Marines that are deceased were 20 years old, just a year older than Chevel herself. Some brew pubs and bars are having an empty table set with 13 glasses of beer. The irony is that these five were too young to have an adult beverage!

  17. Hi all. I have a special request that maybe one of you could forward to Chevel (for various reasons I don't do social media like Facebook or Instagram). I'm a veteran and the loss of 13 armed forces members on Thursday has affected me deeply. Likewise a co-worker is a Marine veteran and his text response to me was Semper Fi. Chevel's brother was in the army so I know they are feeling that loss too. My request for Thursday song day is "God Bless America." No matter your religion, race, ethnicity or national origin we can all use His blessing in this time of national turmoil.

Yeah, I’ve been following it. I have no reason to doubt that it would be well received, but the guy who writes their press releases comes off as a snake oil salesman. Lots of things he has said in the past couple years have not come to fruition. I’m in believe it when I see it mode on this movie. That does not mean I doubt that it will be good, but that company has had ongoing legal and financial trouble ever since I started following the story.

That's certainly true. Most of their blogs have had to do with investor lawsuits, fights with competitors and document filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. They are trying to launch competition to NetFlix entitled MyFlix. I have yet to see a movie trailer for this production  (there are trailers for movies/TVseries with the same name on YouTube). But I hope for the best for this effort.

  19. "WILDFIRE" is a family-appeal feature film inspired by the #1 international hit song by Michael Martin Murphey and the Legend of the Cherokee Ghost Horse. The film stars Chevel Shepherd, winner of NBC's "The Voice" competition, along with screen veteran Anne Heche, Native American star Mo Brings Plenty ("Yellowstone"), Michael Martin Murphey ("Lonesome Dove") and Cassie Self ("Sweet Inspirations"). The announcement of additional star talent in the film is being withheld as per an agreement for first-break of this news with a major entertainment publication.

"WILDFIRE" tells the story of a 16-year old girl whose life in Dallas is turned upside down with the tragic death of her father in a car accident. With no other options, the girl (Samantha) moves to Oklahoma - along with her mother and younger brother - to live with Grandma Bette at her home on Sparrowhawk Mountain. Samantha struggles to adapt to this new lifestyle, but is shunned by the local popular girls and secretly reeked with guilt that she may have contributed to her father's car crash. While walking home from school each day, Samantha finds herself being followed by one of the many wild horses in the area. Ultimately, she and the horse connect into what blossoms into an emotional awakening for Samantha and a turning point for her new life. But tragedy strikes again when a summer Tornado rips through the region, frightening the horse she has named "Wildfire" and triggering his escape from the barn and into the woods. Samantha fights the wind and rains in her pursuit of the horse into the night until a fall off the cliff puts her life in mortal danger. The entire town turns out in a massive search-and-rescue attempt to find Samantha the next day. But it is not until Wildfire himself alerts the local spiritual leader, Udeli Soquili, that Samantha is found and rescued.

"Wildfire" is an uplifting story of redemption and forgiveness, set against the stunning vistas of the eastern Oklahoma mountains and rivers. The film has a broad appeal to all audiences and an impressive music score, including new tracks by Michael Martin Murphey, Chevel Shepherd and many more artists.

  20. 1926818854_ChevelShepherdWildfire-compressed.jpeg.d2c94cd3e77e0335c87de6ca92b9eb0d.jpeg

The film "Wildfire" was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last week and was received well by audiences according to the investor report:

" Highlighting the strong “Native American” cast and crew angle, WILDFIRE was able to elevate itself above most of the other independent films at Cannes to draw media interest and support. This strategy also served as a terrific catalyst for branding and visibility of the upcoming MyFlix streaming venture." There were supposed to be further high-profile cast additions prior to the film's release but they were not mentioned in the release.
