  1. Great job, Jershika! That was fun and the most memorable performance so far tonight.
  2. Including commercials, that's like a 35 minute bathroom break haha
  3. The song is very... staccato (is the word I think I want to use here). Not a lot of space for those bigger, more drawn out notes (common to ballads in particular) that tend to create the "wow" moments. Still, I hope she crushes it live and gets those votes.
  4. If they arranged the song properly, I could see this going better than people expect, and I hope Jershika surprises us in a good way. That's a big "if", though.
  5. Coaches song: "Can't Stop the Feeling!" (Justin Timberlake) ... from the "Trolls" soundtrack
  6. 1. Girl Named Tom 2. Wendy 3. Jershika 4. Paris 5. Joshua 6. Gymani 7. Jeremy 8. Lana 9. Hailey 10. Holly 11. Jim & Sasha
  7. Undoubtedly true - that comment was more of a reference to how the coaches, Kelly in particular, keep bringing up her age. Could just be my selective memory, but with Carter that eventually gave way to “contender to win the show”. If the same happens with Hailey, I won’t complain!
  8. Which, if you're John, Ariana, Nick Jonas, or any other coach, makes it twice the uphill battle.
  9. I think there's a bit of selection bias as well... I get the sense that the favorites (particularly some of the slightly older, more polished singers... Toneisha and Wendy come to mind) are more likely to pick Blake (or if not Blake, Kelly) at the outset, giving them an advantage even before the "Blake voters" factor kicks in. In many ways, these two phenomena (coach selection, voter bias towards certain coaches) are mutually reinforcing.
  10. Next Level 1. Girl Named Tom - if I were a betting man... there's a brilliance to what they do every week that puts them a cut above, even if I can occasionally nitpick the particulars of their arrangements. 2. Wendy Moten - best voice on the show; possibly top 2-3 ever on the show; was smart to go more finessed/nuanced last night, but could stand to pour more of herself into her vocals like... On the Cusp 3. Jershika Maple - floored by her. (As a security guard, she could probably knock me to the floor as well.) She keeps up what she did last night, and she may surpass Wendy for me. Her personality also works in her favor - if this were the "Who do I want to share stories over beer with?" power ranking, she'd be at the top of my list without question. Just Ahead of the Pack 4. Paris Winningham 5. Joshua Vacanti Neither is everyone's cup of tea, but both are very solid vocally and bring something unique among this year's contestants which make them stand out - Paris his soul / passion, and Joshua his theatricality. Compared to The Pack, I could see myself being bummed if I don't get at least 2-3 more weeks of their performances. The Pack 6. Gymani - consistently good, but risks getting outshined by Jershika and Wendy. Song choice will be critical. 7. Jeremy Rosado - solid, has the "wow" factor in moments, but perhaps not enough to go the distance 8. Lana Scott - solid, has a lane to herself for the most part; similar to Jeremy, has the "wow" factor in moments but not enough to go the distance 9. Hailey Mia - voting population may ensure she outperforms this slot. "Compelling for her age" doesn't quite match Carter Rubin's "compelling for any age" 10. Holly Forbes - solid and a favorite of many here, but have seen a number of moments of inconsistency / nerves that will hurt her unless she can crush the song choices these next few weeks. Just Outside the Top 10 (while still outlasting 2/3 of their competitors; not to mention being more skilled singers/performers than 99.9% of America) 11. Shadale - her versatility is impressive and she can bring a lot of emotion to her performances; just doesn't seem to connect in the same way to those ranked higher 12. Jim and Sasha - voting population may also ensure they outperform this slot; clear case where personality and strategic song choice has carried them beyond raw vocal ability relative to their competition 13. Ryleigh Plank - still 1000% better of a singer than me or anyone I know personally, great and unique vibe, but facing stiff competition. Ranking slots by coach: Blake: 2, 4, 8 Ariana: 10, 12, 13 John: 3, 5, 11 Kelly: 1, 6, 7, 9 Assuming a 5-person finale, I expect one, maybe two, of "The Pack" to sneak in. But I expect at least 3 of my Top 5 would make a 5-person finale, likely 4. John is my sneaky pick to surprise everyone and get two into the finale.

  12. A Whole New World (Aladdin) - going to cheat here and put Joshua Vacanti and Hailey Mia. Hailey is 13, but Joshua is theatrical enough in his style that it would come across appropriately. Circle Of Life (Lion King) - Wendy Moten When She Loved Me (Toy Story 2) - Hailey Mia I Won't Say I'm In Love (Hercules) - Jershika Maple Candle On The Water (Pete's Dragon) - GNT Feed The Birds (Mary Poppins) - Holly Forbes Beauty and the Beast (Beauty and the Beast) - Lana Scott You'll Be In My Heart (Tarzan) - Jeremy Rosado Colors Of The Wind (Pocahontas) - Gymani A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes (Cinderella) - Shadale God Help the Outcasts (Hunchback of Notre Dame) - Ryleigh Plank When You Wish Upon A Star (Pinocchio) - Paris Winningham
  13. Considering I only know 25% of the songs on this list, going to sit this one out while I look the rest up!
  14. Thanks! It looks like a few people have created their own song sets which is exactly what I hoped to see!
  15. GNT - The Chain (pimp) Jeremy Rosado - Born to Run Gymani - Piece of My Heart Hailey Mia - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For Jershika Maple - Whole Lotta Love (pimp) (at least I think she'd find a way to crush it) Joshua Vacanti - Just What I Needed Shadale - Let It Be Jim and Sasha Allen - Sympathy for the Devil Holly Forbes - Comfortably Numb (bus, I think) Ryleigh Plank - Barracuda Wendy Moten - Under Pressure Paris Winningham - Can't You See (pimp, if the arrangement were right) Lana Scott - Take It Easy
  16. apologies for the double post - unsure how to delete the duplicate so I'm tossing this one over to the mods.
  17. Just for fun - assign the following classic / famous rock songs to the Top 13 based on who you'd like to see perform what. (There are 16 total songs on offer to give folks some flexibility; three will be left over.) For a bonus, identify your "pimps" and "buses" from among the assigned songs. Personally would be interested to see a similar exercise done for other genres (but other genres are not my area). Songs: "Whole Lotta Love" - Led Zeppelin "Sympathy for the Devil" - Rolling Stones "Under Pressure" - Queen / David Bowie "Comfortably Numb" - Pink Floyd "Barracuda" - Heart "Just What I Needed" - Cars "Let It Be" - Beatles "The Chain" - Fleetwood Mac "Take the Long Way Home" - Supertramp "Love in an Elevator" - Aerosmith "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" - U2 "Take it Easy" - Eagles "Can't You See" - Marshall Tucker Band "Born to Run" - Bruce Springsteen "The Sound of Silence" - Simon and Garfunkel "Piece of my Heart" - Janis Joplin Top 13 by coach: GNT Jeremy Rosado Gymani Hailey Mia Jershika Maple Joshua Vacanti Shadale Jim and Sasha Allen Holly Forbes Ryleigh Plank Wendy Moten Paris Winningham Lana Scott
