she had one of the best first seasons imo. she fills the gap kelly left i think; she’s very insightful in her critiques, i agree that her arrangements had a rly high bar, and she’s an upbeat personality which works well w/ the chances and the johns of the panel. i’d love a DS/John/Camila + extra panel tbh. DS is growing on me especially bc Shay is an icon

i think you’re right. she does have more agility objectively and i also think her tone is less standard / typical (not shade im just trying to use objective terms lol), but it so far hasn’t captured me. her song choices haven’t been great so far imo and i’m worried that her playoffs one won’t be either if she’s the one doing coldplay

yeah i think so too. although her areas of growth r opposite to megan. i think she just needs better control she already has a very powerful voice. btw i would easily take Serebity over Nadege based on blinds alone but unfortunately Serenity had had a downward trajectory and Nadege has been gone. so my pick will rly come down to the playoffs performances themselves, though i think Serenity has a higher ceiling

i rly liked her tone like i was obsessed with her blind audition but i thought she had more power and then it never appeared and so i enjoyed her on the basis of her tone but felt like she was missing smth and so it was so exciting to see her blossom on AI

and btw i say this with the knowledge that i say mean things too sometimes. like i could be nicer and refrain from joking about contestants skill / singing ability. so this isn’t some “i’m better than everyone bc i’m nice” i just happen to think that Kayko’s response and other responses r all very valid i also have noticed that the respect that contestants get when “standing up” to this website differs based on how much people like them. this is not something i’ve noticed here but rather in the “the voice” subforum

the thing is we aren’t classy about it either? our criticisms are often vitriolic and hyperbolic in an attempt to be funny. so why does he need to be classy? like sure maybe you could make marketability argument (i don’t think this rly applies here anyway), but from a moral standpoint i don’t think it’s an issue also someone being the next american idol in my eyes does not mean they should be a role model. i don’t rly believe that celebrities should inform the way we live our lives in general so that extends here. i can see why the name of the show implies that but if the names of shows were meant to be taken literally 80% of the winners of the voice wouldn’t have won and Americas Got Talent would’ve gotten cancelled after the first season

anyway bring the four back with better judges cause that’s the only way POC contestants get a proper spotlight

summed up the dilemma perfectly lol. although we have had some consistently very strong contestants which is nice. but no one this season is Wendy Motening (singing at a level 10x the others) or GNTing (audience appeal 10x above the others) post-knockouts

country dude hasn’t rly stood out to me so far on the basis of song choice Karen for the win i hope. i don’t think Asher will win but if he had a shot obviously he would be my pick

Madison and Anya easily are the most similar contestants on that team so i’m not sure how that would be versatile
