Crisis

Well, the results were predictable. Outside of S20, the wildcards have lasted two nights at most. Loved the Archie performance and the story behind the song. It couldn't have been easy for him or his mother to step away from their faith. Besides the Mandisa tribute, I'm looking forward to seeing if Lionel and Luke continue the gag of picking the same two John Mayer songs for a contestant during the Judges Song Choice theme.

Luke falling on his back looked painful. At least he seemed to take it in stride. Hopefully he can get enough rest to heal well. I am happy they will have a Mandisa tribute next week.

Been peeking in an out of the thread, and this is a solid Top 20. It will be interesting to see where everything falls.

This one really hurts. Season 5 is my favorite season, and Mandisa was one of my favorites. She had some great performances like the ones Wally posted, plus she went on to have a great career in CCM which includes a couple of Grammy wins. However, the main thing I will remember is how she confronted Simon during the Top 24 selection show about that rude comment he made about her weight after her audition. The graceful way she handled it always stuck out to me. May she rest in power and her music and legacy live on.

As for the Bonus Round, there are a few artists I'm not a fan of, and there are some whose discographies I don't know all that well. However, it looks intriguing and may be something I'll consider.

Just submitted my Alicia Keys rankings. I may have channeled my inner Wally on a few of them. Meanwhile, I'll post some more songs that missed the cut: Although some of the lyrics didn't age well in this one.

I saw the Roman pick coming. The last danger zone contestant to perform is usually a Wildcard pick in the ABC seasons. Besides, he sang a song that's a showstopper and left everything on the stage. Lastly, I didn't see them going with more than one gospel singer, which meant Odell and Quintavious were pretty much toast. As for the others, I did not see both Jayna AND Nya being picks. I thought only one would go through. I also thought Ajii would be one of the picks. It goes to show things don't always go as predicted. I was wondering if that thing Katy had on her chest would either cut her or fall off at some point. Well, it was the latter. Never change, Katy.

Of course this was one of the songs eliminated! I'm disappointed but not surprised. This gem is my favorite from As I Am, but I didn't have my hopes up of it making the final cut. I'm happy it made it this far. On that subject, while a good portion of my favorites missed out, this is a nice set all things considered. As an advocate for having more non-singles in these kind of rankdowns, the ones that are here are fairly solid. I'm happy to see The Diary of Alicia Keys represented well as it's my favorite album of hers. I already know my #1 and #21. It will be a fun challenge to rank the others.

So, he's not a gorgeous woman with a picturesque smile nor has a voice of an angel, but I thought Jelly Roll was a great mentor (for the record, although it seems like it, I'm not throwing shade towards Tori Kelly at all. I thought she was a shining gem as well. I'm just being dramatic here ). He seemed to be supportive of and appeared to enjoy his time with the contestants. I also enjoyed his appearance during last year's finale, and his duet with Oliver was one of the highlights (with that said, I could've gone without the camera showing him crying during Iam's and James Blunt's duet ). Idol could've done worse.

A shame since it's considered to be his best performance. As for the thread, unfortunately I will not be doing one this season. If I decide to do something, it will most likely be after the season.

I can't at Luke and Katy saying they haven't seen a male sing Sia. The indignity! Not to mention there was a Sia Night in S15 where three males sang Sia, with one of them having what is considered to be one of the greatest all-time Idol performances:
