The only thing I hate is when the internet stans for the basic white girl when the incredibly talented black girls are right there.

Jayna and Nya are pretty well liked on here though? I do agree with you that they do deserve more attention/love, but it doesn't really make sense to direct that hate towards Abi.

    Top 14 FB react

    1. Triston 13k

    2. KB 7.7k

    3. Mia 7.4k

    4. Emmy 7k

    5. Will 7k

    6. Kayko 5.7k

    7. Roman 4.7k

    8. Julia 4.6k

    9. McKenna 3.3k

    10. Nya 3k

    11. Abi 2.9k

    12. Jack 2.9k

    13. Jordan 1.9k

    14. Jayna 1.6k

Would be fine if this is the top 3 😃 (one can hope)

i wouldn't put as much weight into this as usual just because of the nature of the format of the Top 14 Reveal episode (for ex: even though Nya and Roman are ahead of Abi on stats we obviously know that is not going to come to fruition IRL)

i think what interests me the most is that KB is in second. that performance wasn't what she is fully capable of (it was still amazing though), but she's still pulling in strong numbers. if she locks in and we see her at her best, she could pose a serious threat.

I've also noticed that Will has been meh in stats on both Sunday/Monday episodes (extremely meh considering he is the sole country WGWG).

It would make sense if Abi is deliberately trying to throw the competition. I'm confident none of the Groundwork artists, Blake, KB, and Abi actually wanted/want to win the competition.

it's one thing to "throw" the competition if it's like Final 7 or Final 5 and you don't want to get stuck with the winner's contract. however, it is not logical to throw the competition at Final 12 when there are still multiple rounds of the competition left. that will just make you look like a flop and you risk losing support beyond the show. the contestants are still at the phase of the competition where they have to prove themselves.

What specifically are they doing? If you are a casual viewer who only watches the actual aired product (not a member of an online forum), what is making you follow an Idol singer, but not follow a Voice singer, on a social media platform?

Yeah this is what I meant. Like what is the psychology behind why viewers do this? Because in reality The Voice typically has just as many viral contestants (some who get more views on their blinds than Idol contestant) but nothing ever comes of that. I get the coach prioritization idea, but there is definitely more to it.

I really don't see Roman, or even Jayna, getting more votes than her... When's the last time a saved contestant suddenly survived the next cut? It was usually back when they saved one at a time that they had a better shot.

Season 20 was actually an interesting season for this. The wildcards were Allegra/Jay/Mike/Tristen. Only Allegra was eliminated immediately after at Top 14 - Tristen made Top 11, Mike made Top 10, and Jay made Top 7.

  6. something i'm interested to hear people's thoughts on:

does anybody have any theories as to why Idol contestants (specifically the women) have significantly stronger Instagram engagement than The Voice contestants? Emmy has gone from around 30k to 102k, McKenna has gone from around 35k to 110k, Abi has gone from less than 1k to 107k, etc (per InsTrack). Meanwhile none of The Voice contestants this season have touched that type of growth. This is a pattern I've noticed for years now between the two shows, but I'm now interested to hear others thoughts.

Kayko was likely told no 'cause he isn't a producer favourite. I reckon if it was one of the more popular female contestants or Triston making that request that they'd agree to it.

The producers want a girl winning this season, but if Triston happens to be a force that can't be defeated, they won't fight back on that. Triston is probably the only male winner they'd be okay with.

Changing the lyrics to a classic song would be a negative thing imo, so I feel like producers would want him to do that if they wanted him out?

I agree they want a girl but not sure this is a strong point lol.

Kayko is also reportedly trying to work with the producers where he uses the chorus of a popular rocksong and does original lyrics in the verses.

he's so quirky and unique for not being able to sing a cover 🤪

in all seriousness he would probably lose support rather than gain it if he did that. Minivan likely won't support people messing with their classics (also i'm shocked he thinks he has the songwriting prowess to pull something like that off...)

Why do they rush this all so much more than they used to? Back in ye olden days of Idol, they would sing one night, and one or two people would go home the next night. Nothing else happened until the following week.

Now we get rid of 4 people Sunday, and then 6 people Monday? Okay.... maybe to get it down to the top 14/12 however they want to do it.

But they're going to continue cutting people left and right so quickly, it seems like the show will be over in the blink of an eye.

this season has the longest format of the ABC era lol. the days of an extended format like that have been gone for years now and they aren't coming back. that is when the show used to be on from mid-January to mid-May. now it's mid/late-February to mid-May. they only have so much time!

I'd like to hear some real rock songs, instead of it being this free format since R&R HOF inducts other genre's artists.

I am sure there's gonna be several country and or stripped back versions of rock songs.

I want some James Durbin/Caleb Johnson type rock and roll performances.

agreed! We's performance of Something's Got A Hold On Me last season was the performance of the season for me because of the rock inspired arrangement and vocals. Hopefully more contestants do that this year!

  13. the annoying thing about HoF night is that is focuses on older/dated songs. i'm hoping that for Billboard #1 Hits night on Monday, contestants are encouraged to do some more modern hits to balance that out. i know it just came out but i think "we can't be friends (wait for your love)" by Ariana Grande could lend itself really well to a beautiful stripped down guitar or piano arrangement.

If anyone thinks someone other then Will or Tristan will win is just hoping IMO

there is nothing convincing me that they currently have that level of dominance though. perhaps that will change soon, now that there are less people and their lead over others may become more pronounced. but as far as my opinion goes today, they are not locked into winning.

  15. lol why do i feel like Mia could be the last woman standing now? i feel like the other girlies will continue to become more polarizing across the season, but Mia has been on an upwards trajectory as well as consistent.

obviously, we have 7 rounds of performances (including finale) between now and the winner being crowned so a LOT could change still. just something to think about i suppose.

  16. 1. Abi Carter: my fave! her tone can become too shrill at times but otherwise i adore her.

    2. McKenna Faith Breinholt: one of my faves! she has less range and versatility than Abi though which bumps her down a spot.

    3. Kaibrienne: one of my faves! has my favorite tone in the competition, but has shown to be a bit green/inexperienced, which bumps her down 2 spots.

    4. Mia Matthews: started off a bit meh, but has been consistently great! very close to joining my Top 3 faves.

    5. Nya: consistently great and such a fun contestant. experiences pitch issues at times.

    6. Triston Harper: people will be surprised i have him here. he’s honestly been very strong and consistent thus far. i just don’t want him to win!

    7. Jack Blocker: he’s been consistent, but a little too safe for me. need more performances like Rainbow and Feeling Whitney.

    8. Julia Gagnon: very talented but inconsistent. also feels a bit green compared to past powerhouses on the show. can move up if she gains some momentum back.

    9. Emmy Russell: love her tone, but her song choices don’t always best display it and sometimes her nerves impact the vocals. can move up if she gains more confidence and better song choice picks.

    10. Jayna Elise: very talented but inconsistent. i want to love her but her tone feels a little too nasally/raspy at times for me. can move up if she gains some momentum.

    11. Will Moseley: has had some solid performances! he’s just very boring to me.

    12. Jordan Anthony: he is neither a strong vocalist or unique artist, but at least there is a market for him unlike Roman.

    13. Roman Collins: his song choices tend to be dated. not sure where he fits in the modern music industry.

    14. Kayko: insufferably cringe (to me)!

i consider this to be a very strong Top 14 and there is a lot of fluidity in my rankings, especially between #5 - #10.
