I am not putting the blame on producers lol I think the opposite, they tried to push too hard early black women favorite (like Kennedy, Wendy etc) But even producers gave up on pushing them as they know they won't win whatsoever so they stopped highlighting them and started focusing on others lol

So far in the premiere episodes (which are supposed to stand out early favorites because of higher audience) 4 country males are in while ZERO black woman is approved. I know we will (still) have black women trying to take part in this season like Kim but these initial numbers are very conclusive of what we have been discussing in this thread.

Yes that is what I put in the first post. Maybe Cecil from a couple seasons ago would be a deadly combination if she had passed to the lives. People are saying here it is a matter of taste but we had Keisha and Spensha singing country and they didn't win still. So as I said the problem is deeper than we thought.

Maybe in the voice season 283929293? And I fully agree with the other Whitney's comment. Also with the "trying to be country" as an excuse to vote off a country AA, like Keisha and Spensha. So when even the musical style is not the problem, as we had AA singing different styles besides R&B, I think the problem is deeper.

Meh, I still root for Wendy, but thinking of chances, if GNT does not win it will be very hard for another group to take it as they barely reach lives, different from AA women that are always in the finale, although not winning either.

Two songs that I have never heard before and for me their covers are better than the original is the amazing BA from Alisan (Blue Bayou) and Maelyn (Fields of Gold).

If you think better, Jordan and Joshua, aside their names with J and also being white and 4 glasses, have a lot of common. Both have big voices that don't match with their looks, sang Queen and Celine (even Jordan was mentioned when Joshua sang Ashes) and put emotion on their performances. So why only one won and the other was voted off before the finale?

As for s16 still, Maelyn singing Hallelujah in the finale probably boosted her chances against three country male artists. Also I remember that was told she would sing Kacey if she ended up being in the IS, which is also a smart move as country songs attract votes like gospel ones. That said, I hope Wendy has a country ballad and also an upbeat gospel in the finale to surpass GNT
