The Voice Season 23 Recap: As Done By a Hater
Cookie73 replied to thevoiceswimmer's topic in The Voice
I disagree with the last two auditions (I would have EJ higher and Laura lower). Both were more mid for me. I’d probably knock Walker’s audition down a smidge (I didn’t dislike his later performances like this one though) -

I felt like doing a ranking for each round would be too much work, so I saved it all for the end of the season. On top of that, I will start write-ups once Knockouts are over, since many people that will get lower placements will be people eliminated in the first two rounds -

I mean, I was a fan of their audition. It would be at least in my Top 10 that season, but nobody that made a Blinds Ranking thread put it in their Top 20. I didn’t feel like rating specific performances, but I’m making a contestant ranking at the end of the season, and I’ll address them there (though they can’t be too high on my list due to their limited run). -
Someone else I want to mention, Blaine Long. He had an audition that I liked, but I read in interviews that he didn’t like being on the show. He said that he was relieved to be eliminated early, and that Josh wanted the experience more when talking about his battle. I think that’s why he was eliminated early

I disagree with the Sheer Element grade (my opinion is looking more and more unpopular with each writeup) Other than that, the grades are fair -
Another thing to note- IDF didn’t have reactions before the purge

The Voice Season 23 Recap: As Done By a Hater

Well, at least you have an excuse to not include his Knockout performance this season -
My thoughts on the finalists Billy- Impressive vocalist, but not all of his song choices suited him. Loved his audition, playoffs and T11. He was my favorite of the season for a while and I wanted him to win. However, once Sundance showed up in Lives, his performances overshadowed Billy’s. And yes, I Surrender wasn’t that great in my opinion We- Very unique tone, which helped her stand out. Great in all three pre-live performances, but inconsistent in Lives (Finale was great, T12 and T11 were good, didn’t care for the rest). Hope she goes far on Idol this season Josh- One of my least favorite finalists. His prelives weren’t anything special, but they were all decent, but I disliked him in Lives. Not only did he sing a lot of bro-country, but I didn’t like any of his performances with the exception of Danny’s Song. Ali deserved his spot in the finale

1. Sundance Head 2. Adam Wakefield 3. Craig Wayne Boyd 4. Jake Hoot Weirdly enough, these correspond to actual finale placements I would have liked from them. Sundance carried a weak season in Lives, and he was a great vocalist that took a lot of risks. I’m going to elaborate more when FloorWax posts his writeup. Adam was also great and quite similar to Sundance, but I am happy he didn’t win because I loved Alisan’s run so much. Craig was another consistent contestant that shined in Lives, but I wouldn’t have minded a Matt or Chris win, plus I prefer the 2 above as vocalists. I would say that Jake is better vocally than Craig, but his run was very inconsistent (he didn’t have many great performances besides Cover Me Up and Desperado). At least he’s no longer my least favorite male country winner

I was interested to see how I would feel about the grades, especially since I’m expecting a harsher scale than what I would give. No major disagreements so far. You made one major mistake though, you forgot to grade D. Smooth’s audition -
Quite a few IDFers that were active in S11 did
-
Blame FloorWax for this one (he just watched S10 and is currently watching S11)
-
NOIVAS - I Put A Spell On You - 10 Tasha Jessen - Take Me To Church - 7 ALI - Best Part - 7 Gina Miles - Somebody That I Used To Know - 7 Ray Uriel - Lately - 6 Kylee Dayne - All By Myself - 8 Cait Martin - All The Man That I Need - 10 Kala Banham - Iris - 9

I’m excited to see her Knockout on Monday
-
I don’t like Chance as a coach (his decision making this season…..) Niall is decent so far.
-
Once somebody posted about breaking Jaffy’s posting record, he returns to reclaim his title
-
First BigMac being Jeremy Rosado, now Jaffy being Mary Kate Connor
-
Agreed. Doesn’t help that we don’t know what Holly and Grace’s Knockouts are like.
-
It’s very impressive whenever someone manages to get all five. I remember being shocked when it happened to Istersay once
-
That doesn’t make sense to me either, especially since they post no chair auditions They did leak a three way KO with no steals last season though
-
I still think she did a solid job, I just didn’t think this was her best showing so far
-
I’m still shocked that he has barely posted since the season started, given his hype for it
-
I definitely like the PO pass less, after watching last night’s episode. Those four could have really delivered this round. I hope next season has 48 contestants again
-
Kate sang the biggest song of 1980, and Gina sang the biggest song of 2012. Which song do you think the audience is more familiar with?
-
He’s not an obvious winner like people thought he would be. I think he’ll be Top 3, but it’s still too early to tell who will win. Of course, it also depends how Holly and Grace do in future performances.
