  1. I’m not sure why, but a couple of her performances have been really shaky, and it doesn’t seem to have affected her popularity. If she could fix a few issues, she’d be dangerous, but I’m not convinced there’s enough time for that to happen during the season, and it’s only going to get more difficult.
  2. We don’t know what Will, Odell, Jennifer, or Julia sang. That must have been the reason for the delay. Is there anything that can be said about those songs or the performances? Uptempo, balad, etc. Anything?
  3. I’m definitely on the “doesn’t matter who wins” bandwagon at this point. It’s what they do after they leave the show that matters.
  4. I’m seeing some pretty solid song choices so far, although I don’t know what any of the originals are like.
  5. The audience for this show is very easy to manipulate. I’m sure most viewers understand what they’re doing, but go along with it anyway, because it’s a lot more fun to back a winner.
  6. I like that pick for her. I may hold on to my McKenna stock for at least another week.
  7. It’s OK, but I don’t think it’s that impressive of a number for someone with nearly 1 million IG followers, and one of the most dominant winners ever.
  8. Some of it is probably due to many people not being invested in the contestants beyond the voting. But, I do see that he only has 300k+ Spotify monthly listeners, which is not an impressive number for someone who won in such landslide fashion. Hawaii is a very small place. Hopefully, he can get enough private gigs to make some money for a while. The Facebook numbers during his season may have been inflated due to nearly every resident of Hawaii spamming his posts.
  9. Noticing that Iam didn’t put up the same ridiculous numbers on any of the of the social platforms for his performance. If he was a contestant, he’d be middle of the pack. The audience moves on quickly.
  10. So…along those lines, I will say this. I believe Hailey still needs to develop her artistry, and come up with a signature style. Become an artist, rather than just a singer. And work on limiting the voice cracks. Maybe that will just take time. I hope she continues. Lauren Spencer Smith was discussed in the other thread. She auditioned at age 15, didn’t get much screen time, and was eliminated in the top 20. She now has over 7 million Spotify listeners at age 20. I’m sure it didn’t all just fall into her lap. She did what she had to do to make it happen.
  11. There are a lot of people who try to convince us that we don’t hear what we say we hear, or see what say we see.
  12. I doubt very much anyone would ever perform bad on purpose when millions of people will see it. This just wasn’t for him.
  13. Blake seems to be in a good mood. He’s probably happy to be done with it. This was likely filmed at home. https://www.instagram.com/stories/blakeproehl/3345532652332064002?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igsh=MW5uNDQ2NzM4eG94dw==
  14. I saw some of it. It was unwatchable for me. Same with The Voice.
  15. So…Lauren Spencer Smith was voted off in the top 24, and has over 7 million Spotify monthly listeners. She’s only 20 years old. Very interesting…
  16. “You’re Cheating Heart” - Hank Williams That story might be total BS, though.
  17. I totally agree with that. That’s why it helps to be ready to hit the ground running as soon as they leave the show. Which contestants does that apply to? Probably Will and maybe a few others to a lesser extent. They also need to have the drive to actually go out and do it, and the understanding that they need more than whatever fanbase they gained from the show.
  18. Two of those who ARE popular on IDF already signed a recording contract with Groundwork. None of us know the ramifications of that. I’d love to see what is in that contract.
  19. Adding to this, there are numerous examples. Not only has she had consistently good numbers across all socials, including larger follower numbers, but the single she released two weeks ago is doing really well with no promo. When Will was doing his daily livestreams people were constantly asking about KB, far more than any other contestant….probably more “where’s KB” mentions than all of the others combined.
  20. KB has tapped into something with a segment of the audience. It’s hard to know whether it’s a large enough group of viewers to secure a finale spot, or even a top 5, but she has succeeded in building a loyal following. And this is despite a less than consistent run so far, IMO.
