Hey guys, I wonder if the PO contestants had free range to choose their PO songs or if those were assigned by their coaches. Does anyone know?
Madison said at the beginning of her segment that "you guys" picked the perfect song for her. It seems to vary as others have said and it's hard to know unless coach or contestant says something.

"Those squeaks were not tasteful."

I look it up a bit more and Bryan is a Leader Accomplice of the Harbord Ministries Who We Are - ROGUE Journey And the Harbord Ministries is refer to multiple time on the band page. Home - VOTA (votaband.com) So the date is probably been setup years before and it's not a concert. On the Rogue Journey FAQ they ask participant to commit to at least 2 event separate by a year to complete the journey. So I guess there is a high possibility that Bryan wont be there and it's just old date.
So the odds shift to in. The group would likely release him even if there's a contract to release.
I hope Bryan 's having a good laugh at us. lol

I hope VOTA announces plans for an alternate vocalist for the May tour
Guys, Vota is a duo. Bryan is vocals, guitar and bass. The other guy is keyboard and drums. https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/the-story-behind-the-christian-rock-band-vota-featuring-the-voice-hopeful-bryan-olesen/ar-BB1jkABy

I believe Huntley was a single dad.
I was looking proof then I saw a video on Jacquie Roar’s story asking them how long they’ve been dating and it was followed by a picture of them holding a dessert plate with the words “Happy Anniversary”
American Songwriter says he's a single dad, not with the mother of his two children and in a committed relationship with Hannah Cook, a 21 y/o woman who is in college. https://americansongwriter.com/the-voice-season-24-winner-huntley-married-two-children/
Nikki Swift quotes Hannah's insta after Huntley won -
"I'm so mf proud of you I can't believe it!!!!!!! You've worked so hard darlin. THIS IS FREAKING AMAZING OH MY GOD!!! THE VOICE WINNER OF 2023!!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH." https://www.nickiswift.com/1476369/michael-huntley-the-voice-star-personal-life-what-we-know/
I promise I don't read Nikki Swift lol. Google found her.

Karen - A surprise to me, a lapsed country fan with a bit of a grudge. She and Trisha hit a sweet spot. If a country female could win, she'd have a shot.
Anya - Love her but voters probably won't. She needs to have a moment the audience gets with a song that suits her.
Tae/Madison - Both solid. They could do something really cool - or not.

Gene losing is giving my music release theory even more weight now.
Gene's been one of my favs and I'm sorry he's out, but he wasn't as good tonight. I think in part he got some bum advice and followed it, to his detriment.
I really hope Keith is never a coach. I've typed and deleted a couple of rants, so please insert your own here.

Haven't been following Idol this season but noticed these articles about Will Mosley in the Atlanta paper.

As someone who’s a huge fan of both, I think people are pegging Anya as the indie artist with the most voter appeal when I think it’s pretty clearly Olivia. I think people might be shocked at how popular Olivia is with the audience
I like Anya but I think she'll have problems with voters. She lost to Kyle on the app fwiw. If she's got a big moment in her (not necessarily a big song), the time is at hand.
I'm wouldn't be surprised if Olivia does pretty well with voters. She's in a sweet spot for the show's demo and she does a lot of things well. She should be right up my alley but I can't get there - she never seems quite genuine to me, but that could be on me. Sometimes I just cant get on a singer's wavelength.

I feel Anya has a way more unique voice and style in comparison to Gina, which is not gonna help her with getting votes. Gina was more conventional and that allowed her to be better received by the audience. Just compare their song choices, Gina sang a bunch of overused songs on singing competitions while Anya has sang three songs that were never sung in the show before.
I honestly would rather for Anya to be herself and do her thing instead of trying to appeal to the audience just for votes (i'm not saying Gina did this, btw).
I agree, which is why I started by saying I didn't think they are much alike lol. I still think she needs a breakout song soon. I don't know her niche well enough to make a suggestion but she needs one nonetheless.
I'm not sure what you're arguing with?

Gina's Wicked Games was in the playoffs. There's still an opportunity for Anya - it just has to happen.

Anya is my sentimental fav but most would probably agree that her long term prospects aren't the highest. I don't think she and Gina are much alike (other maybe than being "dark pop" in the broad sense of a probably useless term) but I do think that, given her style, she'll need a breakout song like Wicked Games and a follow-up like Nothing Compares to stay in the hunt. I'm not sure what those songs might be in her case, but I'm sure she's thinking about it.
Fwiw with Chloe it was Landslide and Teoth.

I recall Heads Carolina being one of my favorite Danielle performances when I was doing my review. Nothing too crazy, but it was a solid, joyful performance
Agree. She caught a vibe there and carried the crowd along. Great change-up from the big ballads.

Charlie on Olivia
Last week
"Olivia, meanwhile… is it just me, or did it feel like was trying to vocally italicize, like, every line? And why all the yelling?
This week
"perfectly good . . . The trouble with her — for me, anyway — is that I always get a vibe of insincerity from her."
I have wanted to like Olivia, the increasingly rare female pop rocker, but I think Charlie is onto something.

First was the obvious one for this thread. Second was someone whose arrest was mentioned here a while back. Dk what happened there - sounds like maybe there was a medical defense.

Anya really stepped up. Wish we'd heard more of that. I may have to stan a little. Also really liked A.J.

Female rockers (or rockers in general) are right up my alley but Olivia isn't doing it for me too
Fun goofy episode and I enjoyed it - and agree with the comment. I expected Olivia to rock out but didn't like her take - her overuse of the exaggerated sob had me almost cringing in anticipation.
I think Jackie benefited from not knowing the song and being out of her element. Sounded to me like she not only studied the song but managed to catch Stevie's sound and that grounded the performance. Her first solo seemed a little shaky but the second (around 1:20) may be the best few seconds of Stevie I've heard on the show lol
If I had magic vanishing dust, I'd use it on Ducote.
