I do think that actually explains the negative mood here. When we have spoilers, people have time to get hyped about artists and when they finally show up we all get excited, regardless of the quality of their audition.

Hmmmm it's jarring to see Maddi rap since I always thought of her as a straight pop singer, but when she sang she was on point. She seems to be trying an image change with this audition.
