Bucky came home to NC this past weekend to perform at the Charlotte Knights game, here is the link to the video and the article below! Enjoy! WOOHOO Former 'Idol' Bucky Covington comes home FORT MILL, S.C. -- North Carolina native Bucky Covington came home this weekend to perform at a Charlotte Knights game.

Getting here was no easy task. His difficult journey began in Las Vegas when Covington and his band, including his twin brother Rocky the drummer, flew to New York. There was a five hour delay but they finally reached the Big City only to discover their luggage and instruments were left in Las Vegas. Bucky and the band had to appear on television for an interview in their “I Love NY” t-shirts. Their luggage and instruments finally caught up with them, two days later, in Charlotte just hours before their performance at the Knights game.

Covington was elated to be playing in his home state and hopes to squeeze a concert in for Rockingham sometime in October. He was raised in Laurinburg and after high school he left Rockingham and now he resides in Nashville, TN.

Charlotte is 90 minutes from Rockingham, Covington’s home town, and he was glad to have his friends and family at the game to support him.

“It’s awesome coming back to North Carolina. Any part of North Carolina you come to it feels like you’re coming to home. When you see welcome to North Carolina it feels like you’re in your home” Covington said.

When asked he said the “main thing I know Charlotte for is getting lost.” And when asked what he loves about Rockingham he said “Rockingham’s just home.”

After his performance and long weekend were over good news awaited him. Covington’s first single “A Different World” reached the Top 10 hit list in Country radio. Covington’s self-titled CD debuted at #1 on Neilsen SoundScan’s Country Top 75 Chart. This is the best first week sales and highest Top 200 debut for any new male country artist since Billy Ray Cyrus in 1992.
