Denise's Favorite Songs of 2019

Recommended Posts

162. Little Mix - Think About Us (featuring Ty Dolla Sign): I liked Little Mix's last album even if I prefer their more pop sound and this is one of the strongest songs from it!

161. JoJo - Sabotage (featuring Chika): I love that JoJo's back but this song is just ok for me.

160. Caleb Lee Hutchinson - Left of Me: I liked Caleb ok from what I saw of American Idol 16, but haven't kept up with anyone except kind of Maddie. But this pretty good, looks like he's finding his sound.

159. Alec Benjamin - Jesus In LA: His voice grates on my nerves.

158. Black Eyed Peas - Be Nice (featuring Snoop Dogg): I never really watched Songland. Not my style of music but pretty decent for what it is I guess.

157. Mark Ronson - Nothing Breaks Like a Heart (featuring Miley Cyrus):

156. Ciara - Greatest Love: I'm liking this on first listen! Like that Ciara is back releasing music. It's sweet like you said and also sensual. And yes Wally would. :haha:

155. Keith Urban - We Were: This is ok/decent from Keith, though not up to par with some of the songs from his latest album. I haven't kept up with his music this year so looking forward to more of his songs on this list.

- Me too, although there are a few other songs I love much more than this one.

- Same and that's understandable.

- Aww, well I'm happy with your comments here! ^_^

- Oh. :(

- Ahh okay.

- Same about Ciara.

- Ah yeah. This is the only single he released in 2019. :( Hopefully more music from him soon. There is another I want to feature during an intermission though.

154. Alessia Cara - Rooting for You: Unfortunately I couldn't get into this song of hers either, stays on the same level the whole time.

153. Marshmello & Kane Brown - One Thing Right: Yeah I don't care for this collaboration at all. Like with Sam Hunt, I don;t care that he tries to combine country with other genres. Wish he'd just stick to country, but hopefully For My Daughter shows up later.

152. Luke Bryan - Knockin' Boots: Yeah I don't care for Luke's recent singles either, this included. Reminds me of the Shake it For Me era. :|

151. Jana Kramer - Beautiful Lies: Jana Kramer is an artist I've always known about but I haven't really loved a song of hers yet. As a result I haven't been following her and didn't know she released music this year. But this is pretty good!

150. Alan Walker, Sabrina Carpenter, & Farruko - On My Way: Yesss I did have several Alan songs on my list last year. :haha: Probably won't have the energy to do a list this year but we'll see. Anyway this isn't my favorite song of Alan's, but Sabrina sounds great.

149. Maddie Poppe - Made You Miss: I do like this song, although it's a bit poppier than what I think she wanted to make. I prefer her more acoustic/folkier side, but I wish this song had gotten more attention though because I want to see an AI alum succeed in this day and age.

148. Brantley Gilbert & Lindsay Ell - What Happens in a Small Town: I haven't been listening to as much country this year so I don't know this song, but I too know of both of them.

147. Chris Lane - I Don't Know About You: I appreciate a lot of country being on this list. :P I only know a song or two of his but this is good, I love the chorus as well.

- Aww okay. :(

- Ahh. I don't really feel like he tries to combine other genres with his own music, but this was a collaboration, so it's a mix. Is For My Daughter a single now? Wikipedia doesn't say so. :(

- Aww. :( Oh, I loved that era. :bye2:

- I see! I'm glad you like this though.

- Aha, I thought it was you. :giggle: Aww. But yay Sabrina!

- That could be, but I really like it and her album. I wish this too. :(

- Ahh okay.

- Yay! :teehee: Glad you like this too!

154. Alessia Cara - Rooting for You: I heard this on Wallace's list. And yes, I remember that Tyra moment, too. :giggle: I agree about the cool vibe of the song. It's catchy, but laid back at the same time. I'm enjoying this on a second listen. :music:

153. Marshmello & Kane Brown - One Thing Right: Yes, I agree this was an unexpected collaboration. I don't know much about this Marshmello person, but I wouldn't expect a collaboration with a country artist. Anyway, I do kind of like this song, especially the part that you quoted that you said was long. It's a cool, chill song. Kudos to him on the Top 40 hit.

152. Luke Bryan - Knockin' Boots: "I haven't been as crazy about some of Luke's recent singles." Same. :bye2: I used to really like Luke's music, but his latest two albums haven't impressed me. This is another letdown for me, but I agree with you that the song has a singalong feel to it (especially in the chorus). I can see fans singing this song back to him at concerts. Hopefully I'll like Luke's 2020 music better.

151. Jana Kramer - Beautiful Lies: That's cool we both happened to post Jana songs today. Anyway, I'm not too familiar with this song. I think I did hear this one already, but I like it more after listening to it again while reading your write-up of it. It's a sad song, but she sounds pretty here. That's good she's in a better spot now in her life!

150. Alan Walker, Sabrina Carpenter, & Farruko - On My Way: NHT. This has an interesting sound to it, especially the instrumentation. Ooh, the guy is singing in Spanish here! Yeah, what he's saying is that he's sorry, he's tired of fighting, he knows his mistakes but he's only human, but he's ready to leave, too. Overall, this was pretty good.

149. Maddie Poppe - Made You Miss: I wasn't a Maddie fan on Idol either, but I haven't grown to like her since I haven't followed her after her time on the show ended. So this is one I haven't heard before, but I ended up liking this better than I expected to. I hear what you mean about it being kind of jammy in a cool way. This was pretty good.

148. Brantley Gilbert & Lindsay Ell - What Happens in a Small Town: I think I have heard this song before, but I'll have to listen to it again to remember how it goes. As I'm hearing it now, I think it's pretty good. I don't typically care for Brantley's music, but I like this song. The contributions from both Brantley and Lindsay work well here. I also like the swell of the music, which you mention in your write-up. Good song!

147. Chris Lane - I Don't Know About You: I like Chris Lane's song "Fix," but I haven't kept up with his other songs. So this is another one I'm hearing for the first time (unless I already heard it but forgot). This is pretty good. It's got a catchy groove to it, and he delivers the lyrics well (especially in the bridge). I think I like the Brantley and Lindsay song better and would rank it highest of these set of songs, but I found this one to be enjoyable too.

- Yay you knowing that Tyra moment! :giggle: I'm glad you like this after hearing it twice now. :D

- I don't know much about Marshmello either, but I'm a fan of Kane! "I do kind of like this song, especially the part that you quoted that you said was long" :haha: I don't know why that made me laugh. But yay!

- Aw yeah, I know you feel that way about Luke. :( Hopefully he will release more you like soon.

- I noticed too. :teehee: I'm glad you like this one as well, and I agree!

- Oooh, thank you for translating here for me! Glad you like this too.

- I see. :haha: I mostly grew to like her a lot more on tour, so that probably lead me into listening to her album and liking it. Maybe you'll like some others I feature on here, but glad you like this one now too!

- Yay, glad you like! I agree with your comments.

- I remember that song and liked that one too. I think I prefer this one though. I agree with your thoughts and oh, thanks for sharing that! Rankings can be tight for me.

I like this song a lot but Spotify told me it was a 2018 song so I didn't include it but Google says 2019 so maybe Spotify lied to to me. Anyways its a good song.

It was released as a single in January 2019. But even 2018 songs can be eligible, if they are popular in 2019 or I like them more then. That is especially true for ones released super late in the year.

- : ( Ooooh lol I can’t disagree but I mean I want to hear him on it now that you brought it up.

- Lmao yeah I guess I did. Gosh this shows you how much of a hot mess I am with clues. :lma o: Oooh what do you mean by this? : o Aww ok!

154. Alessia Cara - Rooting for You: Ooh wow look at us both posting all of these Alessia songs so early on our lists. :ha ha: Lol your Tyra comment but yess you know the story behind that haha. You know my thoughts on this but yeah I like this and the vibe/feel of it. The message is kinda sad but I like the feel of it and that beat. And yess you mention war I like with the music and the chorus. Oh I didn’t really notice that lyric you pointed out about having fun/making fun of line but ahh wow. Ahh I like all of these parts you are listing and your thoughts pretty much echo all of mine.

153. Marshmello & Kane Brown - One Thing Right: Ooh yayy another song I had on my list too. :gi ggle: Yeah this was an unexpected collabo for sure ut yeah it was cool hearing one of your country boys on pop radio. :giggle : Oooh you described this song really well. Oooh lol songs can be weird. I love that comment from you. I ALREADY FORGOT what i said my favorite part was but I am sure it’s the chorus, as it usually is. I do really like that part a lot. :y es: I like all of these parts you listed and this was a song that needed some time to grow on me but I am glad it did.

152. Luke Bryan - Knockin' Boots: Awww at not being so crazy about Luke’s more recent singles. That’s a shame when that happens. : ( OMGGG YOUR reaction to finding out what “knockin’ boots” meant. : dead: I LOVE IT. I cant say I know or remember the exact meaning of it but I knew it was something naughty and adult-like but forgot exactly what it was. But I think i remembered correctly, haha. :ha ha: Omgg wow this song is kinda naughty…. oooo Luke. Overall this is alright but not doing too much for me on this first listen. I can get you saying the song as a fun sing a-long feel to it. Ooh wait, I feel like I do recognize the last bit of the chorus on this. Ooh I see you mentioned it, yayy. That part is kinda fun.

151. Jana Kramer - Beautiful Lies: NHT but from the title, I would expect it to be a sad song and listening to it, it definitely is. : ( Aww this song is really sad and emotional. : ( Jana sounds beautiful vocally and the emotion she pours is so good. I really like the chorus and all of these parts you are mentioning. Aww but noooo at those lies. Not nice. :by e2: Ahh yeah I know she and her husband have had many ups and downs in their relationship so I would take it this song is about that and the downs. : ( Very sad but yeah I hope they are good now, which I also believe they are.

150. Alan Walker, Sabrina Carpenter, & Farruko - On My Way: OOOOH so this is the song to that clue I could NOT think of anything for it. :lm ao: Okay obviously this works as Sabrina is the one you love. And oh i learned of Alan Walker through Tom’s list and the Music Rankdown although still not that familiar with him. Ooh yes you mentioned Alan being on Tom’s list and lol so true on the country singer comment. Sabrina does sound pretty on this song and like her on this song. I like the part you mentioned as your favorite. The song has a cool funky feel to it especially the breakdown section of it. Farruko’s part is cool but oooo he’s singing in a different language. Is it Spanish? Wow I was not expecting that. Ooh wow that bridge is so trippy sounding lmao. Cool song and I enjoyed it.

149. Maddie Poppe - Made You Miss: OMGG Finally my Maddie guesses are right. Not sure if I heard this song before or not but getting to hear it now so yayy. :te ehee: Oooh interesting story behind the song which I would not have gotten from the title of it. : o I do like the pre-chours and the chorus part of the song you mentioned. Oh wow this song has more of an upbeat fun feel to it which I wasn’t expecting. I like tis fun and slight sassy vibe from her. And yeah I like this much more than I was expecting. :hah a: This is fun. Well done Maddie.

148. Brantley Gilbert & Lindsay Ell - What Happens in a Small Town: OMGG #bless that I actually got this right! I’m so proud! :w00 t: I heard of both of these artists but couldn’t tell you a song by either of tem. I’m more familiar with Lindsay though, and prefer her. Aww nice explanation of the song. But whoa yeah this song scared me once it got to the chorus. It was sooo soft and quiet and then really boom’d on the chorus. :lma o: And yeah the build-up was really fast too. The parts you mentioned are nice here. :ha ha: And hmm as I expected, I don’t care for Brantley too much here but I like Linsday on this Her voice is so pretty. : o It is a nice song/duet with these two.

147. Chris Lane - I Don't Know About You: :dead: @ your first sentence. But yes i noticed that you are here. Oooh I think/hope I predicted this too? : o Well I am glad this guess was right and not my other one. Hmmm I can’t recall if I heard this song or not. I want to say I have but never really paid attention to it? I see that it was a big hit so that’s goo for himm. This song has a nice calm soft relaxing feel to it. Overall this song is alright for me but when it got to the chorus i was liking the sound of it. It’s all really nice and sweet, so I can total get you liking all of this. :teeh ee: OMGGGG YOUR comments on the video and the awkwardness of it…. omgg what is this even about? : dead: Lmao wow. Uhh she better not be toooo young or else, #yikes. That ending is sooo messy. : dead:

Clues for 146-139:

- A song from an artist who shares a first name with someone in the above set. // I would assume not someone tat was actually in this set. :giggle: Chris seems like the best thing to go off of as that is such a common name. There’s Chris Young’s “Hangin’ On,” “Drowning” or “Raised on Country”? Chris Janson’s “Good Vibes” or “Done”? Chris Stapleton’s “Millionaire”? I hope it’s Chris because I’m not sure what to guess with the other names.

- This song title contains only one word. // Gosh not even sure what to guess. Camila Cabello’s “Shameless” or “Liar”? Lee Brice “Rumor”? Maren Morris’ “Girl”?

- Another song from the first set of Wally's list. / Yayy another clue regarding my list! :w00t: My best guesses… Dan + Shay - “All To Myself”, Camila Cabello - “Shameless”, Halsey - “Graveyard”, Mariah Carey - “A No No”or Miley Cyrus - “Slide Away”. I would mainly guess the Camila, Mariah or Halsey songs?

- This song title has a gender in it. // BTS & Halsey’s Boy with Luv? Ariana Grande’s boyfriend or break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored, Dustin Lynch’s Good Girl? Maren Morris’ “Girl”?

- A collaboration between two artists whose names start with letters that are back to back in the alphabet. // Awww this is a really cute clue. Too bad I don’t know what to guess. :dead: Gah so far I can only think of Lizzo/Missy Elliott’s Tempo or Sam Feldt/RANI’s Post Malone but doubt those will be here. Ugh I am stumped.

- This song is requesting you not to do something. // uhhh something like ~please don’t go or leave? Mabel’s “Don’t Call Me Up”? Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now”, Ariana/Miley/Lana “Don’t Call Me Angel”?

- A song that is wishing for something. // Something with wishing or wanting in its title? Gah not sure what to guess here.

- This song name has the word "love" in it. // Oooh i like this clue as there are lots of songs ith the word love in it but i’m afraid I’m gonna get this wrong. Let’s see….. Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved”? Eli Young Band “Love Ain’t,” Brett Elderdge “Love Someone,” Cole Swindell “ Love You Too Late”, The Chainsmokers/5 Serconds of Summer “Who Do You Love,” Carrie Underwood’s “Love Wins” MAX’s “Love me Less,” Selena Gomez’s “Lose you To Love Me”

- I want to hear him sing it too. :(

- You are not. I mean I wonder if there's another clue you could have guessed the Ciara song for, since the JoJo and Keith ones were for different clues than you guessed.

- Yep. I wrote that long before ever reading your comment on it lol, but yes now I know how she talked about that. Yes, same. I did. :bye2: Yay!

- Yes it is. lol thank you. Thanks. They can be with the arrangements though. Ah yeah probably. Me too!

- Yeah, but I do like this one. :bobo: Uhhh yeah. I did not know and that is never how I took this. :ermm: And still is not. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?...nocking%20boots :) Aww okay but yay thinking part is fun, at least.

- Yes, it is. :( I agree with what you said. "Aww but noooo at those lies. Not nice." But she is telling him to lie. That's what I explained. I think so, but I believe they are and they are good friends with Shawn and Andrew!

- Yes sir. :teehee: Ahh okay. OMG yayy you agree with me that his name sounds like a country singer. :haha: Yay! Yes, Spanish, and Steven explained what he says in his post. :teehee: lol your bridge comment.

- Yes, this was one you named. Me neither. I'm glad you like this too! :bobo:

- Good job, Wally. Aww... I'm more familiar with Brantley, although I only know a couple of his songs, but am getting to know Lindsay. She's also good friends with Lauren! omg the song scaring you at the chorus. :lmao: lol okay. Aww okay. Oh and actually, fun fact... Brantley was previously engaged to Jana.

- It's true though. :teehee: Yes you did. lol you're glad the other guess was wrong. I wouldn't think you had heard this before, but hmm. Yayy I hoped you'd like. It is so strange in the video... she seems too young with her dad showing up. :fear:

Your first comment on the first clue. :lmao: Hmmm ahh so many guesses and I wish I could help. :" border="0" alt="blushing.gif" /> You'll see soon.

- Awww yeah, I know.

- Mhmmm. Ooh I have no clueu.

- Oooh ok I figud that was the case. :haha: Mhmmmm. Agreed. Awww I know you did.

- And you’re welcome x two here. Ooh yeah that is very true. Mhmmm.

- I’m glad that you do! Ooooohhhh, Lol I seeee I seee. :giggle: But yeah that is what it is. OMGG your face after the link there. :lmao: This is funny to read, lol.Ah yess.

- Mhmm. :( Ooh I know but being lied to isn’t good. Although with telling the truth that could be bad as a lot of hurtful stuff would be revealed. I did see them on a number of shows together over the last year or so. Ooh I did not know this fact but that is really cool. :o

- Yes ma’am. Lol yeah there’s that country singer with the name Alan and am sure there are some with the name Walker so that makes sense. Oooh ok, thank you to Steven for the translation! :o Mhmm.

- #bless, thank goodness. Same.

- Oooh I see. I have seen Brantey’s name quite a bit so there is that. Ooh also din’t know Lindsay is friends with Lauren but good to know. It did. Your comments were spot on about it. :haha: Oooh woaa I did not know that. When were they engaged? And you spilling all the facts in here tonight (or well today when you posted this).

- I know. :haha: Yayy mee. Oops, I didn’t say anything. :giggle: I have noo idea but I enjoyed the chorus so ayy there. Lmaoo yeah so true. By young, she still better be 18 or over but they were at a bar and you have to be 21 to go in there so hopefully she’s at that age? LOL Now I’m all wanting to know. :dead:

:giggle: Ahhh yess. I wish you could help me too so, help me. :bye2:

"clueu"

- I know, but the whole song is her telling him to lie, so she doesn't have to face the truth. Oh, what kind of shows? Yes!

- Yes, there are some with both names. :teehee:

- Okay. Now you know. :teehee: Oh thanks, lol. Yes... lol I have lots of facts. They were engaged in 2013.

- I don't know, but 21 should be old enough to not have her dad come out after the guy. :haha:

The clues are supposed to help. :bye2: I think you at least got one. And the set is about to come.

146. Billie Eilish - wish you were gay

yaJx0Gj_LCY

I know there was some controversy regarding this song, although Billie did not intend to have any malice behind the meaning. I didn't know what to expect when I first heard of it, but basically it is about a situation where Billie was really into a guy who didn't feel the same way, so she wished that, and I quote, "he was gay so that he didn't like her for an actual reason, instead of the fact that he didn't like her." It's interesting and I like the sound of the song. It starts out soo quiet and interesting, but I like the way all her lyrics count down from six to one. But aww "I'll never let you go, five words you'll never say" :bye2: She counts more in the second verse, by the way. But the chorus is my favorite and I love the build of it. I also love how the first and second choruses connect with different lyrics, like the first time she says "I just wanna make you feel okay", but in the next chorus the line is "How am I supposed to make you feel okay?" The last part of the chorus is my favorite though, where she says, "I can't tell you how much I wish I didn't wanna stay, I just kinda wish you were gay" The punch feeling on that last line is so good. I love how she sings that and yeah, she explains more of the meaning in the bridge. "To give your lack of interest an explanation, don't say I'm not your type. Just say that I'm not your preferred sexual orientation" The dynamics of her vocals are so interesting throughout and really drive the song.

145. Luke Combs - Beer Never Broke My Heart

7Lb9dq-JZFI

I like quite a few songs from Luke Combs, although I can't really name what they are off the top of my head. I do hear him often on the radio though and really like most of what I've heard. This is a kind of fun~ song, in the way that he sings about beer being the only thing that won't cause pain. I don't drink, so I don't really have much to say about that, but I guess it's kind of cheeky, if that's the right word. It is true that a lot of things in life can hurt though. :( I think this lyric is really good: "It takes one hand to count the things I can count on" Sad though. The song picks up so much in the chorus and that's definitely the shining moment. LONG. NECK. ICE COLD BEER NEVER BROKE MY HEART. :omg: Wow. I love the way he belts that and the entire chorus. It has a rockin' kind of groove to it. :bobo: The guitar solo is cool.

144. Bruno Mars & Cardi B - Please Me

XxvH3Gj3hO8

Now we all know about Bruno and Cardi's huge hit "Finesse" from last year and how it was #1 on Wally's list. They didn't waste any time putting out a follow-up collaboration. This one didn't seem to take off nearly as well, which is a shame... it doesn't match "Finesse", but it's still good and I enjoy it a lot. :bobo: It deserves better, I say. I actually expected this to rank quite a bit higher on my list, but I love a lot of songs, and also I guess it didn't have as much longevity for me. But it's a kind of sensual, sexy song about... well yeah. The title says enough. But why is it when I Google this song, one of the top search results is this question "What is going on with Cardi B and Bruno Mars?" :lmao: What do they mean? Anyway, I feel like I haven't heard this song in so long now and am ready to groove to it. OMG and I'm realizing I never saw

and omg did they really just meet and are saying those things to each other? Wow. I like how it starts off with the chorus though and Bruno's vocals on this are my favorite, although I do like the contrast between him and Cardi B. I love the way Bruno sings "Please me" all those times and yeah his vocal delivery is really good on this. OMG I just read through Cardi's lyrics and am... wow. I had no idea some of those things she was saying. :| I have to post a clean version now, so sorry to the music video, but you're out! (!) Bruno's vocals really do sound like they are begging on all those PLEASE parts. :haha: Oh my. But his voice sounds so good. "Girl, I ain't one for beggin', but now you got me beggin'" :omg: That part and "Girl, let me put this lovin' on you" are some standout parts for sure. His voice is just so darn good and even if you don't like the song, his vocals shine through. I love how he sings that "Turn around" part at 3:38 too. Bruno can sing for days.

143. Andy Grammer - Don't Give Up on Me

ouEezpuPc3A

I want to say I first heard this song in a trailer for the movie Five Feet Apart, which I still want to see, and is featured in this music video here too. It stars Cole Sprouse, who I know from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, The Suite Life on Deck, and Riverdale, and Haley Lu Richardson, who is engaged to Brett Dier, who I know from Jane the Virgin and Schooled. :giggle: Just wanted to name drop a bunch of shows there. Anyway, I really like Andy and really like this song. It's vey uplifting and encouraging, or at least would be if someone sang or dedicated it to you. :bye2: I love the way it starts. "I will fight, I will fight for you. I always do until my heart is black and blue" The build-up of the pre-chorus is really nice too, and I especially love those "I'll wait for you" parts. But the chorus has a such a beautiful sound and meaning to it. "'Cause I'm not givin' up, I'm not givin' up, givin' up, No, not yet, Even when I'm down to my last breath"

142. New Kids on the Block - Boys in the Band (Band Anthem)

EvOPoQrtFGI

Yesss New Kids on the Block released a 30th Anniversary Edition of their Hangin' Tough album this year and we got this new song and music video from it. This is a fun little ditty where they pay tribute to the fans, their boy band career, and make mention of other popular boy bands too (Lance Bass has a cameo!) There is also a feature of Debbie Gibson, which is... interesting. More on that later, but lol the video is funny with the guys all dressed as older versions of themselves. They're not THAT OLD. But they dress up as other boy bands and it's really just a big celebration of boy bands, which I am HERE for. The song is really catchy too. "And we're only getting started, babyy" :bobo: Yess that's right. "The boys in the band, we do it for the fans" :bobo: I love it and it's so sweet. But I also really love that "And if it isn't love" part and ooh they throw out some references to other boy bands in that verse too, but there will be more later on. OMG Debbie Gibson on this though. Her part annoys me so much, oops. But omg check out that verse where they drop of the names of SO MANY BOY BANDS. I feel like I have to quote the entire thing so you can see, but just listen to it. I'll quote some of my favorite parts of it, like "Before we go Boyz II Men, To the End Of (The Road). Let's go back to the beginning, pay respect — New Edition, then came BBD, BSB, B2K, 1D, 98 Degrees" :omg: "To H-Town to O-Town, came the sound Berry Gordy found all the way back in Motown" :bobo: "Peace — LFO, Menudo, JLS, BTS, Westlife, Jackson 5, N'Sync, Take That, I Want You Back!" That was actually most of it, but oh well. But then that part I love again with different lyrics. "And if it is enough why does every generation have another one? And why do all directions only lead to one?" lol so interesting because there are always more big boy bands... and lol the 1D pun in that last lyric too. :giggle: This is so catchy, fun, and fans of boy bands should love it. I know I do. The video is full of too much greatness to explain, even though I tried, but you must watch.

141. Miley Cyrus - Slide Away

rrvFv6j3-sM

This song really reminds me of something but I'm not sure what. I see on Wikipedia it is compared to some 80's British music, so maybe it's some old school music or something. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I really enjoy this side of Miley. It's a more serious song compared to many other recent singles and I really like her voice on this too. "Once upon a time, it was paradise, Once upon a time, I was paralyzed" :bye2: That's such an interesting lyric. I like how she sings the verses, but the chorus is what sticks with me most. Or well, all the "So won't you slide away" parts. I actually really like the pre-chorus before that too and it's probably my other favorite part. "I want my house in the hills, don't want the whiskey and pills" Yay. :bye2: Oh and I realized the first and second verse are exactly the same, which is interesting. I guess she had to say it all again, meanwhile the pre-chorus has different lyrics. Hmm. But very good song.

140. Post Malone - Wow.

A6_FDcXCYvQ

I didn't really expect myself to have any Post Malone songs on here, but this is what's happening. It's 2020 now, so #NewYear #NewMe Except not really. I kind of had to include this song here for Wally. Wow. wow. :giggle: If you know, you know. But besides that, ugh this song is really catchy and the beat is kind of hot. Wow. I don't know, but I always enjoy listening to this. I have no idea what he is talking about in these verses or well any of the song besides the... "wow." And I do always catch the Fall Out Boy name drop, as well. But that's about it. "It's a moment when I show up, got 'em sayin', "Wow" " :bobo: The best. Who knows what happens in the rest of the song and it may not be for me, but I really enjoy the beat and sound of this. Yeah, those other lyrics can go. Wow. But we'll ignore because this is here for the one part, which is... wow. Although, reading the lyrics... I see Dumbo mention. No idea what he's saying though. DUMBO. My #3 Disney movie that people tanked. :broken: But alas... "Made another hit 'cause I got bored now" :lmao: Well okay. Wow. "Always goin' for it, never punt fourth down" I do like this football reference. :haha: This is what my Seahawks need to do... as long as they don't fail eight times in a row near the goal line in the last minute to give up the division title and week one bye. :) (!) Wow.

139. Avril Lavigne - I Fell in Love with the Devil

XIw_e2B0AbE

This song was a standout to me when I listened to Avril's album, so I'm pleased to find out it was a single, despite never hearing it on the radio. It is basically about what it implies from the title, which is a toxic relationship. I really love the pre-chorus where she sings "But I-I-I-I-I can't stop the rush, and I-I-I-I-I can't give you up" It's so pretty, but also really sad. I love the way she powers more on the chorus and the way she sings the "I fell in love with the devil" parts. The whole song has a quite sad and gloomy feel, but also so powerful from the chorus especially. The bridge is so haunting, as is that part where she sings "I fell in love with the devil, I'm underneath his spell" before the chorus booms back in full throttle. Wow. Such an emotional and powerful song. I really wish I listened to this much more, because it could have been quite a bit higher.

146. Billie Eilish - wish you were gay: Ooh I heard of this song and know I saw the title of this but i don’t think I ever heard this. I did wonder what this song was about but thanks for explaining what the song is about here. Ah yeah this song does start off really slow and quiet. These slower songs take a long while to grow on me but it can happen. But oh wow the chorus is definitely much more upbeat here. I like the sound of this. It has that dark and and funky~ lack of a better word. It’s really intriguing but yeah it’s powerful and agree the last line has a strong punch to it. I like all of the parts you listed and tree’s a lot of dynamics on this. Yeah I’m liking listening to this.

145. Luke Combs - Beer Never Broken My Heart: Oooh that’s cool you like a few Luke Combs song. I definitely heard of him and feel like he’s getting or had a really popular year this year - not that I follow his career or anything but I think I remember him winning some awards. Not really a fan of his though. Hmm this song is okay but not my cup of tea, of course. I do like the music and how hard it goes on the verses part. Aww I like your explanation of this and lmaooo using cheeky to describe what he’s singing. I see. :teehee: Aww the part you mentioned is sad. He has a good strong/voice an yeah this was okay.

144. Bruno Mars & Cardi B - Please Me: OMGGG YOU STILL OUT HERE saying “Finesse” was my #1 song of 2018? Last i saw, it was #3. :dead: But yess I’m here for another Bruno & Cardi collabo. Ughh yeah I am sad/mad this song didn’t take off or have the same success as “Finesse.” It deserved better, but yeah I also really like this too. So yesss at your comments. But oh yeah I also thought you’d have this higher too but i get you on the lack of longevity comment. I’m glad it’s on here though. LMAOOO your google topic and that question that comes up. Omggg what is going on with that? :dead: Yess this song has a nice and cool groove to it and I love the feel/vibe of this. Lol I love your comments on the music video and what they say. Yess same I love the contrast of Bruno and Cardi’s parts and war they both bring to this. Bruno sounds amazing and really kills it vocally here, like we know he can do. OMGG your comments on Cardi’s lyrics. LOL YEA I know i know. :dead: I don’t think she’s that bad/naughty on the first verse but the 2nd one she really goes…. alll out. :dead: She says a lot and yeah I didn’t really realize that too much either. But yeah I do really like so many parts and all of the parts you mentioned are great. And yes love tat Bruno part you mentioned from the verse.

143. Andy Grammer - Don't Give Up on Me: Ah yah I hear this song here and there from Andy, and it’s one of those I do really enjoy when I do ear it. This is a really nice and sweet song. OOO cool comments you got about the music video and check you out with tis name dropping. :giggle: Ahh yes this song is nice with the uplifting an encouraging feel to it. I like all of these parts you are listing here. It’s all really emotional and good. :bye2: And Andy sounds really good on this. I like all of your comments on this and wish I gave this more attention.

142. New Kids on the Block - Boys in the Band (Band Anthem): OMGGGG LOL THIS SONG. :dead: I remember when this came out and there was a lot of buzz and talk about this, so I was def aware of this song. But then it faded away quickly and I completely forgot about it until now. :lmao:But hmmm I don’t see this song here so hello invisible song. :teehee: Okay good you edited this in, haha. But yeah I know this song/video pays tribute to boy bands although I saw parts of the video I never saw it in full. Ooo lol your comment on Debbie Gibson. Hmm I can see it as she was an 80s pop girl and I believe they went on tour together so makes some sense to me. :haha: Omgg lmaooo them dressed as old people was funny. But I wouldn’t be surprised they are still performing at tat age. :teehee: I do like the references they make to other boy bands and some of the cameos in there too. The song is fun . It has a nice fun sound to it. It is a bit cheesy too but it’s fun. OMGGG I did not know Debbie Gibson sang in this and omggg wow this is NEW to me. Wow I guess I never heard this in full. OMG my computer muted her part when I went back to listen to it. DID YOU CONTROL my computer? But wait I kinda love her part and can bop to that. Oooh that’s Donnie’s part with the rap naming all of those bands. That’s a really cool and fun part and I like that too. The video is funny too. :haha:

141. Miley Cyrus - Slide Away: Oooh I think I guessed this correctly, so #bless me getting this right. Hmmmmm at the 80s British music sound? I don’t get it? But maybe if i listen closely I can kinda get that feel to it. i got to really listen and dissect but I wonder what those specific influences are. Anyway, I had this on my list an quite like this. Miley sounds really pretty and vulnerable on tis and it’s nice seeing this emotional side of her here. I like the chorus and the parts you mention sticks out to me too. Yea I didn’t realize that about the first and second verse being the same but that is really weird. :lmao: But it ~sounds different those two times and works well with the song.

140. Post Malone - Wow.: Omgggg wow, look it’s “Wow.” :giggle: OMGGG I am crying in shock and happiness here but yayy I am glad you have “Wow” on here. IT’S your jam and you word. (!) LOLOL the 2020 New Year/New Me comment. OMGGG LOLOL my mention, I knewww that was coming and omg I’m crying. :dead: Wow. OMGG LOL I love your calling the beat kind of hot. Goooo head Beat. But yeah I like this song and it’s a fun jam and i do jam out to this. :bobo: LOL love your comments on the song and yeah… I just know tis song is about wow and tat’s all I need. Oh yess I love the FOB name drop too. Post loves to name drop hahaha. But yayy for liking the sound and beat to this. :bobo: LOL love your Dumbo mention and omgg the Disney comments. And loll yes I love the another hit/bored line there. :haha: OMGGG your Seahawks comments are cracking me up…. but ugh that reminds me that the Patriots are slipping too so ugh our teams need to step it up. But yeah got ‘em saying wow!

139. Avril Lavigne - I Fell in Love with the Devil: Heard of this song and heard it on CGF’s list but yea this is a song I am not too familiar with but do wish I had heard it more. Avril sounds really pretty here and ahh the song is so dark/somber and haunting but it sounds good. I like the pre-chorus part you mentioned even tough it is sad. But it is pretty. Ooh and glopmy. That is another fitting word for this song. omgg I see a “Wow” in there from you. And yeah this song is really powerful an emotional and yeah it’s really good. I wish I heard this more too.

Clues for 138-131:

- Another song from an artist in the just posted set. // Avril Lavigne’s Head Above Water or Dumb Blond? Luke Combs Even Though I’m Leaving? Andy Grammer’s I Am Yours/Some Girl/Wish You Pain? Billie Eilish bad guy/all the good girls go to hell/when the party’s over or everything i wanted? Maybe some more Post Malone - Circles, Goodbyes or Sunflower? Miley Cyrus’ Mother’s Daughter?

- A song from a band who reunited in 2019. // Hmm this does sound like it could be Jonas Brothers - Sucker, Cool or Only Human? Could also be Lonely with Diplo too.

- This song has the same name as a single from my favorite male artist. // Ooooo you must be referring to Hunter. Hmmm what to guess…. OneRepublic’s Wanted? Uh there’s Rammstein’s Tattoo but lmaoo doubt that will be on here. :haha: Although unless if it’s not the OR song then I think it could be a Hunter non-single because I can’t find anything.

- A song from an artist whose first and last name begin with the same letter.. / something from Camila Cabello like Shameless/Liar/Living Proof/Find U Again (with Mark Ronson). Hunter Hayes works but lol as if a song of his would be this low. Oooh Blanco Brown’s The Git Up works too.

- The name of this song could describe a person's eyes. // Beautiful, pretty, gorgeous or well something opposite of those words.

- A song that was performed on the finale of a reality competition show // Which reality who competition are you talking about? Uh mm i will guess it’s something from Idol sooo…. Kane Brown’s Good as You? Daddy Yankee & Katy Perry’s Con Calma? Laine Hardy’s Flame? Then thhere’s some songs i see being much higher so I won’t name those.

- The artist and name of this song begin with the same letter. // Miley Cyrus’ Mother’s Daughter? Maroon 5’s Memories? BTS/Halsey Boy with Luv? Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now? Billie Eilish’s bad guy? Niall Horan’s Nice to Meet Ya?

- A song from a band whose name is a compound word. // Aww this is a cute clue. Ugh I know there are bands out there but ugh why can’t I think of any right now? :dead: For now I will say something from The Chainsmokers - maybe Who Do You Love? But oh they aren’t really a band.

I like all of these parts you are listing here. It’s all really emotional and good. :by e2: And Andy sounds really good on this. I like all of your comments on this and wish I gave this more attention.

142. New Kids on the Block - Boys in the Band (Band Anthem): OMGGGG LOL THIS SONG. : dead: I remember when this came out and there was a lot of buzz and talk about this, so I was def aware of this song. But then it faded away quickly and I completely forgot about it until now. :lm ao: But hmmm I don’t see this song here so hello invisible song. :teehe e: Okay good you edited this in, haha. But yeah I know this song/video pays tribute to boy bands although I saw parts of the video I never saw it in full. Ooo lol your comment on Debbie Gibson. Hmm I can see it as she was an 80s pop girl and I believe they went on tour together so makes some sense to me. :h aha: Omgg lmaooo them dressed as old people was funny. But I wouldn’t be surprised they are still performing at tat age. :teeh ee: I do like the references they make to other boy bands and some of the cameos in there too. :h aha:

:lm ao: But it ~sounds different those two times and works well with the song.

140. Post Malone - Wow.: Omgggg wow, look it’s “Wow.” :gi ggle: OMGGG I am crying in shock and happiness here but yayy I am glad you have “Wow” on here. IT’S your jam and you word. (! ) LOLOL the 2020 New Year/New Me comment. OMGGG LOLOL my mention, I knewww that was coming and omg I’m crying. : dead: Wow. OMGG LOL I love your calling the beat kind of hot. Goooo head Beat. But yeah I like this song and it’s a fun jam and i do jam out to this. :bo bo: LOL love your comments on the song and yeah… I just know tis song is about wow and tat’s all I need. Oh yess I love the FOB name drop too. Post loves to name drop hahaha. But yayy for liking the sound and beat to this. :bo bo: LOL love your Dumbo mention and omgg the Disney comments. And loll yes I love the another hit/bored line there. :ha ha: OMGGG your Seahawks comments are cracking me up…. but ugh that reminds me that the Patriots are slipping too so ugh our teams need to step it up.

:hah a: Although unless if it’s not the OR song then I think it could be a Hunter non-single because I can’t find anything.

: dead: For now I will say something from The Chainsmokers - maybe Who Do You Love? But oh they aren’t really a band.

- Ah okay, I didn't know of your familiarity with this and wonder why I didn't hear this on the radio. You're welcome. Yes, but the chorus is the best, and glad we feel the same.

- Yes, I heard him on radio so much this year and he does seem to be gaining popularity. Aww okay. :( I thought you might like more, but glad you like some of it.

- I can only speak what is supposed to be the truth. :* Yeah, same... I thought so, but that shows how many songs I really like. No idea. Yayy agreeing! I don't even remember what she says and I don't want to. Yes about Bruno.

- Okay yayy! lol yes, but I should have named each Suite Life show individually, so I edited it. :giggle: I agree with your thoughts. Aww. Wallandy. :bye2:

- Oh wow, I had no idea there was all this buzz or that you heard of this. I don't remember how I discovered it, but I think I just saw it on YouTube. Ugh it missing, but it's there now. I don't think I asked why Debbie was there, but lol thanks. Awww. Yes, it is all fun! Oh, well yes she does. The computer did?! It knows. "But wait I kinda love her part and can bop to that." Oh. But yes, the rest is fun and so is the video!

- I believe so. I don't know, but that's just what I read. Yes I know you like it too and I agree with you said.

- I thought you'd be surprised. Wow. My word. :giggle: Hunter's word. Our word! But yay me. lol my write-up on this song. Of course I had to mention you. It wouldn't be right not to. Ahh yeah and I know you do. Pretty much. I suppose he does. Dumbo. :bye2: Yeah, that's funny. lol I got very frustrated in that moment. The Patriots are? Last I read they just won their 11th divisional title in a row, so try again. (!) :dead: But yes, hopefully. Wow.

- Ahh okay. Yes, it is very dark and haunting. She sounds very good. "Ooh and glopmy. That is another fitting word for this song." Glopmy. :giggle: There will always be a wow. Speaking of, she also has a song on that album called Bigger Wow. :giggle: WOW. wow. But yes, I agree. You wish you heard it at all (before lists). :haha:

Yay the guesses! Wow, so many on that first clue. Wow. I wish you'd narrow down the Jonas Brother choices, lol. "I think it could be a Hunter non-single because I can’t find anything." But my clue says a single. (!) Hmm to the rest of this. You'll see.

Sort of, but I thought they interviewed people regarding entertainment projects and stuff, not personal matters.

Aww.

Ugh, you hadn't posted yet when I did, so I didn't know. >.

lol

Oooh yeah they do. i think they also had a Podcast or something they were promoting too? I’m not sure.

Awwww yeah I know you hadn’t. I replied a few hours before and refreshed the page about 2-3 times and never saw it updated until you noticed. :P I was working on nominations, PMs and clues, so I made my post once i finished the clues.

:teehee:

- Awww okay and now you know. Yeah I never heard this Billie song on the radio and fuss it wasn’t released to radio? Thanks. Mhmm the chorus is good.

- Ah I see, this isn’t too surprising since yeah I feel like I do see his name around more often. Funny you say this because I actually liked it more than I was expecting to. :dead:

- If you say sooo. :dead: Ah mhmm yess and ah wow yeah you do really like a lot of songs here then. :haha: Ahh yeah. I like our agreement. Oooh I will let you know if this song shows up on my list. Yayy!

- Omggg did you do so? :lmao: Tat’s too funny. I like our agreement.

- Yeah this song and video came out, it was being talked about on so many shows I watch so I mainly knew it from there. :haha: Ahh i see at how you discovered it. Lol yeah I was like “Did I somehow skip pass this song?” Then I re-looked and didn’t see it there. ooh lol right you didn’t ask that. Mhmmm it is. OMG awwww. Lmao yeah for a 6-8 seconds or so? :lmao: You are controlling things haha. Yess her part is fun! You will know this. :* Mhmmm it is.

- Ah i see. I wish influences were named so I can try to compare but oh well. Mhmmm yess and I love our agreement.

- omggg lmaoo Yess I totally am. :haha: And also so unexpected since Post Malone’s other big single releases are more poppier than Wow, so I’ expect those more. But i know all about your history with Wow. Wow. Yesss. Lmaooo it was funny and enjoyable. Omggg I can’t. :dead: But yayy for my mention. And lol thanks. :haha: Mhmmm yep. Lol yeah i suppose so too. :haha: Awwww. Ah yes. Oooh I understand. Ah yeah that’s true but they also lost their Playoffs Bye week which haas the first time that’s happened in 10 years. :dead: I’m okay about it but you know who isn’t. :haha: Ahh mmm. Wow.

- It really is and yess she does. OMGG WHATTT? Where the heck did glopmy come from? And wow, now my spellcheck fixed it to the right word? Not there but i change it - but i meant gloomy. Yess there has to be. OMGG she does? Lmao WOW. Oooh lmaoo well yeah there’s that too. :haha:

Gah I don’t know how to decide there. Oooh with the Jonas Brother clue, I would think Lonely would be the song to show up? Doubtful of Sucker but not sure of the other two? OOH I can’t read. :dead: Ugh I couldn’t find anything else so I’ll stick with the OR song.

146. Billie Eilish - wish you were gay: NHT but I can see why this song would be controversial by the title. But her explanation makes sense. Anyway, Billie Eilish's style just isn't my cup of tea. As I'm hearing this now, it sounds like mumbling like all the other songs I've heard from her so far. Sorry, but that's cool you and so many people like her though.

145. Luke Combs - Beer Never Broken My Heart: I don't follow country music as closely as I used to, but I am aware of this song and how Luke Combs has broken through in a big way recently. Anyway, I also don't drink, so I can relate to you there. ^_^ As for the song, I can get the appeal even though it's not one of my favorites of the year. It's a type of song that would appeal to the demographic. Luke Combs's style is like the Toby Keith and Jason Aldean style of country, which isn't my favorite. But like I said, I get the appeal.

144. Bruno Mars & Cardi B - Please Me: :giggle: at mentioning how "Finesse" was #1 on Wallace's list last year. I also expected that to be his #1. Anyway, I haven't heard of this song before. They both play off of each other well here, and it's got a good beat to it. I like Bruno's vocals here better than Cardi's rapping though.

143. Andy Grammer - Don't Give Up on Me: I saw trailers for that movie you mentioned, but I also haven't seen it. I'm not familiar with this song, but I like it after a first listen. I like Andy's heartfelt delivery here. I like the arrangement here too. Nice pretty guitar playing in the chorus and it has a more anthemic feel in the chorus. This was really good and one I would listen to again. This is my favorite song of the ones listed in this set so far. :music:

142. New Kids on the Block - Boys in the Band (Band Anthem): NHT, but the whole concept is quite clever. The arrangement was more low-key that I was expecting, but it's an amusing song. Nice tribute to all those boy bands. And LOL at your comments about Debbie Gibson's parts. Yeah, her part felt unnecessary and is kind of annoying. :lmao:

141. Miley Cyrus - Slide Away: I remember this on Wallace's list, so this is the second time I'm hearing this song. I think Miley delivers the song well, but I think a more stripped down arrangement would suit the lyrics better. The beat that's prevalent throughout feels a bit out of place. But it's not a bad song.

140. Post Malone - Wow.: I didn't expect to see a Post Malone song here either. And :giggle: at the "wow" comments. Anyway, I can get the appeal of this song, but it's not my cup of tea. I don't think it's a bad song and it's kind of cool. It's just not a song I would seek out to listen to myself.

139. Avril Lavigne - I Fell in Love with the Devil: I like this song. It's a sad song indeed, but Avril delivers it so beautifully. I especially like how her voice sounds in the chorus. This is a good song indeed. I feel bad for not listening to Avril's album, but I do like this song and will include it on my list. ^_^

Ahh okay, that makes more sense.

OMG yikes. I wish I realized earlier, but sooo glad I still had the comments I wrote and they weren't deleted. :ermm: Wow, IDF really is a full-time job. (!)

- Why are singles not released to radio?

- Oh wow, I didn't know. Blah me. You should have messaged me immediately. (!) But I'm being dramatic. Oh wow. Yay me. I listened to this song all year, so doubtful.

- They are? Gosh, I'm sure I heard them all a million times on the radio, until I changed the station. Will have to look. Hmm. Oooh I see... and I see they are still playing at home though. Wow, a wildcard slot with the division title seems so strange to me. The other teams must have really messed up. lol I know. :giggle: But it's funny with the Seahawks because this season they randomly dominated on the road and only lost one away game compared to four at home (where they're usually hard to beat). So hopefully it's a good thing.

- I don't know. :lmao: Silly spellcheck. lol yes. Wow. WOW.

Awww okay. Thanks for sharing some more insight! Yes. Okay. o:)
