Ricky Palomino

IPB Image

Well I cut Ricky’s partner, Ashlee, earlier in the game so it’s fitting that I cut Ricky as well. Ricky Palomino is a Contemporary dancer from Season 3. I kinda remember him being an early favorite of that season - at least I think he was. Then somehow when he was in the Top 20, he became fodder. As I said earlier, his partnership with Ashlee was awkward - as she was taller than him and they danced the worst Argentine Tango I’ve seen. He landed in the Bottom 3 against Cedric and Dominic, and those two had better solos, so i can’t fault that and had no issue with Ricky going. I think I remember him annoying me personality-wise too? Not too sure. I see he is still doing well for himself taking part in some Frontrow World of Dance competitions, so well done Ricky there. :o

Herer is his Argentine Tango with Ashlee for those that dare to see it.

Jimmy Arguello

IPB Image

Jimmy Arguello was a contemporary dancer that competed on season 3 of the show. She was originally paired with the overrated Shauna and together they danced two routines before Jimmy was cut. First, they danced a broadway routine that was okay but nothing special and but good enough to avoid the bottom.

ntLGrFeG2uM

For their second week they danced a Dave Scott routine that was okay too where Shauna was better than him.

QiYClKT7sls

They found themselves in the bottom 3 after this routine. Jimmy had a tough chance to survive against the like of Pasha and Cedric and he eventually got cut over them. I feel like Jimmy said something about being cut over Cedric but I can't quite remember. Anyways, although maybe he should have lasted a bit longer in the end he wasn't that memorable and not a contestant that I think got robbed or anything.

Nathan Trasoras
IPB Image

Nathan was a contemporary dancer on the show's sixth season. He was partnered with Mollee Gray at the top 20 and it says it all that he was arguably worse than her in that partnership. They somehow both made the Top 10 (Mollee to the Top 8) in a season with far more talented people than them. I feel like it was because they were the young contemporary dancers that the judges just ate up for some reason before realizing that they couldn't dance outside of their style, let alone inside of it. In the showcase, Nathan was part of a Tyce Diorio Contemporary routine to kd lang's "Crying" with Channing, Ariana and Jakob. He was far too straight to be in that routine, but somehow survived.

In Week 2, he and Mollee danced an atrocious Disco, but they were the last dance of the night so, once again, they were safe. By that point, most of us thought that their Disco might have just been an off night for both of them, but then in Week 3, they danced a Bollywood that can only be described as a mess. Truly one of the worst Bollywood routines the show has ever seen. Right up there with Sophie and Bailey's creepy Bollywood this past season. As if it couldn't get any worse, in Week 4 they danced a Salsa that neither of them were qualified to dance and yet, somehow, they weren't even in the bottom after it! By this point, I wondered what was going on and if the judges were deliberately trying to bus them to get rid of them, but it wasn't working. The voters continued to put them through. The power of the tweens was too strong.

Finally, at the Top 14, they danced a Pop-Jazz as the final routine of the night that landed them in the Bottom 3 but somehow. SOMEHOW. The judges chose to eliminate Channing and Kevin instead. Again, what? Channing and Kevin had both had far better routines up to that point and more experience as dancers but, sure, eliminate them instead. So then we were subject to another week of both of them and, arguably, two of their worst routines. A hip-hop to the Black Eyed Peas "Ring-a-Ling" and a frickin' Can-Can. If you haven't watched it since it aired, and I don't blame you, that Can-Can stands the test of time as one of the worst routines to ever be on the show. Right up there with Sushi.

And yet... both of them survived another night and instead, Victor and Karen went home which... again, they both had better routines than them up to that point so I'm not sure what the judges were trying to pull. Finally, at the Top 10, Nathan went home, but not before dragging Kathryn into the Bottom 4 with him after an extremely awkward Rumba on his part, since he has all the s*x appeal of a slab of butter. The one redeeming quality of that final week of his was that we got to see Kathryn dance a Spencer Liff broadway to "Choreography" from White Christmas, so I'll end this otherwise scathing write-up on a high note and say "good riddance" to finally getting rid of Nathan in this rankdown. I'll also add that I actually think him and Mollee had the potential to be good, they just should have been told to audition again in a year or two.

Save Blake

I’m out of the office for a work thing so I have to do this by cell today. I’ll do a write-up based on memory but I will have to come back and edit to add pictures and links (and maybe fact check lol). Let me know if it looks okay

JESUS SOLORIO

IPB Image

Jesus was a contestant on Season 3 and made it to Top 16. He auditioned For Season 2 and made it pretty far in Vegas Week but not all the way. Jesus was paired with Sara, which seemed like it would be a good partnership. They had a good routine week 1 by Wade Robson to a Triplets of Belleview banger. However, after that I think they had a lame hip hop and a tragic paso doble to a weird song. He ended up in the bottom 3 along with Danny and Neil, and honestly I think anyone would have gone home against those two. Jesus might have made it through if he was against Cedric or Kameron, but probably no one else. After he went home, Sara was paired up with Pasha and they ended up having a pretty successful partnership on the show. I remember Sara saying that she didn’t think it was Jesus’s time to go after he went home.

After the show, I seem to remember him being featured on the season 4 “where are they now” segment saying that he wrote and produced a musical. Obviously he’s a super talented dude. I’ll check tonight to see what he’s been up to lately if I can find it.

MITCHELL KELLY

IPB Image

Mitchell Kelly is a contempt-jazz dancer from season eight whose most memorable moment was being injured so that Caitlynn Lawson could dance her first routine with Robert Roldan. But, since he was always in danger against a guy that was somehow worse than him, he managed to make it into the finals before promptly being eliminated over Ricky Jaime. Honestly, both of them should've left in the semi-finals, but such was season eight's terrible elimination order that resulted in that top three. :ermm: Anyway, I remember liking one of the routines he did with Caitlynn. I think it was Top 14? Whatever week they did To Love You More. But it's not enough for me to keep him around.

Jimmy: I took one of Jimmy's dance classes in South Florida once. He's super nice

Nathan: I agree that he was probably too green to be on the show that year, but I also think pairing him with Mollee was one of the most WTF partnerships in the history of the show. Two young contemporary dancers, and Mollee was extreeeemely energetic and they never meshed and I have no idea why they got paired up. I think Mollee with Russell and Nathan with Noelle would have been better, but Nathan really should have been with a NON contemporary dancer. Who else was there? Karen wouldn't have been good with him... Bianca either... ugh they just had too many contemporary girls that year I guess.

Mitchell: Good in the piece where he decked Caitlynn in the face and I liked their Travis Wall jazz. The judges liked that Mandy Moore piece that they did too. But they were also in that godawful Christopher Scott hip-hop that goes into the hall of fame of bad duets.

You could have saved him. :dead:

I know. There was 5 people I wanted to save, and figured 2 would be easy saves so that left it down to 3. :haha:

And LOL Mitchell was my other save option too. :| :dead: So eeks, my backup choices failed at getting saved. :haha: But ehh couldn't really risk it with Melissa possibly being cut.

I was looking for this. :giggle:

At first I wasn’t a fan of having to nominate all hip-hop/ballroom dancers but then I looked and realized that we’ve all failed and somehow allowed Jose Ruiz to make it this far.

Jaymz Tuaileva (Season 2)

Jaymz Tuaileva is a Contemporary/Jazz dancer from the mostly dreadful Season 2. Jaymz (along with Allison) are the first contestants to come from Orem, Utah. So at least he has that going for him. Jaymz is also pretty attractive. So he has two things going for him I guess. Jaymz partnered with Ballet dancer Jessica for his entire time on the show. Jaymz danced a 70s Disco, Foxtrot, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop during his time on the show. Jaymz landed in the bottom three out of those four weeks, which speaks to how weak most of those routines were tbh. Jaymz probably did not deserve to fall in the bottom after his Contemporary routine, which is the strongest of his four routines danced. But the routine is still pretty forgettable and one of the weakest routines of that night. Anyways. Though he was eliminated at Top 14, Jaymz has steadily continued to work in the industry ever since his days on Season 2. Jaymz is also a father! He seems very happy. Good for him. Out he goes.
