Mary Lou Retton

IPB Image

Mary Lou is a former gymnast who was the first American woman to win gold in the all-around at the 1984 Olympics. She was a contestant in season 27 (aka the war on women season) of Dancing With the Stars, dancing with Sasha Farber until they were eliminated in Week 6 and finished in 9th place. She was an okay dancer throughout the season, her best dance being a trio Charleston with Nastia Liukin in Week 4 (way too early for trios). It was incredibly awkward to see Sasha dance with her after dancing with Simone Biles. Prior to appearing on the show, Mary Lou Retton and other members of USA Gymnastics tried to stop Senator Dianne Feinstein from passing a bill that would protect young athletes from sexual abuse. She later denied knowing about Larry Nassar (Simone and many, many, MANY other gymnasts' abuser) molesting gymnasts and said she wished the girls had come to her for help. Well, maybe they would've if you hadn't spent most of your time defending the Karolyis whenever they were accused of physical abuse toward gymnasts and silencing their accusers. Whatever, I've wasted enough time on Gymnast Melania.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

IPB Image

My lack of boxing knowledge comes in here but I don't know why Floyd did this show because I feel like he was doing pretty well in his profession even when he went on the show? I mean he became bigger in the years since but at the time I remember thinking he probably didn't need to do it, but hey, maybe he just wanted to learn to dance. And then he went on the show and was just a bit of an a**hole, which made it even more confusing why he was there because he didn't seem to have any interest in it and seemed kinda rude/dismissive to Karina. I don't really remember any of his dances, and I'm okay with that. He was a bad part of a good cast. What I do remember? Karina dragging him

"He was good, though, didn't you get robbed?"

"No... we weren't that good "

"Was it his footwork?"

"It was a combo of... footwork, armwork, body work, rhythm, discipline "

Bring back Karina

Saving Melissa Joan Hart I guess?

I mean, Wendy Williams also thinks Christie Brinkley faked her injury on this past season, so why didn't we use that as a reason? :dead:

IS WENDY WRONG??????

(I don't think she faked her injury but I do think that she was very excited that Sailor could potentially be recognized on a large national stage). (That did not work out because nobody knows who Sailor is).

Floyd is bad at managing money and also his image. He's perpetually in debt or owes back taxes despite how many big paydays he's had.

She can still be excited her daughter’s getting more recognition without people needing to think she faked her injury. Especially considering she’s said she’d been wanting to do the show for years.

Buzz Aldrin

IPB Image

I had to use this gif because of his reaction to Tr*mp. :dead: Anyway, Buzz was on season 10 of the show. He was partnered with Ashley Costa who always seemed to draw the short straw when it comes to celebs. Other partners of hers: Joey McIntyre, who was her best by default, Legendary Trainwreck Master P, and boring and forgettable Harry Hamlin. Week 1, Buzz dances a Cha-Cha that scored a 14, which ended up being his highest score. Week 2, he danced a Foxtrot to “Fly Me to the Moon” because this show likes to give the celebs cliche song choices for their profession. This dance scored a 12. Week 3, Buzz danced a Waltz that scored a 13. Buzz was eliminated that week, and I can’t argue with that because he was the lowest scorer each week. His average score was a 13.0 which has to be one of the lowest among those who danced at least twice. Wow, season 10 was so bad outside the Top 3.

celebrities faking injuries for dwts is like the lowest and least harmful level of celebrity conspiracy theories.

like thinking that christie brinkley thinks so lowly of her daughter's ability to get famous on her own and so highly of dancing with the stars's ability to make people who aren't really famous famous is hilarious.

criticize wendy for her transphobia or clearly like you linked her part in the bad aaliyah biopic or her actual harmful celebrity feuds (like with method man or kesha or beyonce) or her belief that institutional racism just doesn't exist? or literally one of the hundreds of things that made her career so controversial in a bad way.

but like in the long line of wendy williams taking things too far, accusing christie brinkley of faking an injury so her daughter can go on dancing with the stars is mostly just laughable.

ONE OF MY LIFE'S GREATEST DISAPPOINTMENTS. As a lifelong fan of softball and the University of Arizona.

Vanilla Ice (Season 23)

Vanilla Ice is one of the many terrible casting choices made by the producers of DWTS. Though I am surprised at how long it took them to actually cast him tbh. Vanilla Ice is a former "rapper" and "actor." Part of the overall net good Season 23 cast, Vanilla Ice was partnered with Witney Carson, who had an unfortunately long string of terrible contestants. LOL. During his first week in the competition, he of course danced a Cha Cha to "Ice Ice Baby," his hit song that illegally used the "Under Pressure" samples. Too bad he sucks at dancing and only scored a 25 out of 40. He survived the first week though. The following week was TV Night, where Vanilla danced a Foxtrot to the main theme song of Married...with Children. He did marginally better (?) and scored a 26 out of a possible 40. He survived again. During Face-off Night, Vanilla Ice had the pleasure of battling alongside fellow piece-of-human-trash Rick Perry. Vanilla danced a Paso Doble that sucked and scored a 23 out of a possible 40, tying with Rick and only earning the win because Len was forced to break the tie. Vanilla survived until Week 4, which is the unfortunate week where even trash dancers/humans start to be given generous scores. His Cirque du Soleil Viennese Waltz earned him a 23 out of a possible 30, his highest score yet. Too bad for him though, since he was eliminated along with Babyface. This left him with a final overall average of 24.3 out of a possible 40. I think he deserves lower.

Not only is he a trash dancer, but he has also has a history of physically abusing his ex-wife. Vanilla Ice threatened a homeless man at gunpoint. Vanilla Ice stole the musical samples from "Under Pressure" to generate his only hit and then tried to lie about it in court. He burglarized a home just the year before his appearance on DWTS. So yeah. Time for him to go. Another righteous elimination.

I truly had no idea who to cut #ThankYouElliott. So I'll make a decision that will make Elliott happy - I am cutting John O'Hurley who was the favourite to win back in Season where there was barely 6 contestants. It was a short season but John managed to surprise everyone with his dancing & his partner, Charlotte Jørgensen - her only season ever. Looking back at this season, John's routine were nothing special - he wouldn't receive the same score if he were part of the cast, nowadays. For the majority of the season, he was often at the top of the leaderboard where he ended the competition with an average score of 25 (24.90 to be exact). In the end, they finished in 2nd place where Kelly Monaco won the season. And with that, he's out!
