7. Zootopia
This is a underrated gem favorite of mine and one of the movies I am SO happy made it this far. I truly adore it. It is the cutest little movie! I love Ginnifer Goodwin so much and feel like she does a fantastic job as Judy Hopps. I think this movie shows children size does not matter and you shouldn’t give up on your dreams. I know a lot of Disney movies share this same message but I always felt like Zootopia has done a extra great job at this message. I hope it fairs well in this final ranking but if not it is good it made it this far.

My ranking of this flawless masterpiece can probably be explained by it being recent, but also I feel like it needs a good ranking as I assume some rankers will rank it low because they never seen it. The movie stars the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin, known for “Once Upon A Time”, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, Jenny Slate, Bonnie Hunt, Tommy Chong, J.K. Simmons, Octavia Spencer, and Shakira – what an iconic lineup! The movie itself experienced incredible success upon its release in 2016 – grossed over $1 billion while winning the award of Best Animated Feature Film.

At the beginning of the film, we are introduced to Judy Hoops – a bunny from Bunnyburrow – who has big ambitions, since a young age. Why does she want to be a cop? She wants to make the world a better place – we get a glimpse of that when she portrays a cop in a play and protect her friends from the Fox; The Fox told her to quick. And now, Judy’s perseverance paid off – she’s at the police academy where she constantly had to prove herself & she succeeded by using her rabbit ability. At the end of her time at the police academy, she was named valedictorian & became the first rabbit cop in Zootopia.

IPB ImageIPB Image

Following her graduation, Judy is packing her bag & moving to Zootopia – this is place where someone can be anything they want to be. While at the ZPD, she is facing a new set of challenges – her boss is not taking her seriously where she is assigned to parking meter instead of assisting others on missing animals’ case. In that situation, her boss was not smart to underestimate Judy as she is known for being determined – she is driven to prove her wrong where she puts herself a goal of giving 200 tickets. She then exceeded that number when she gives herself a ticker – this was quite hilarious.

And while on duty, she noticed a Fox – using her bunny instinct, she follows him into the ice cream where she is surprised to see that he is not armed. But her impression was wrong when she realizes that the fox and his little friend are con artists… They are selling “pawsicle” in order to sell the “red wood” – they are creating their own pyramid scheme. And this discovery ended her first day on the job – she called her parents where they made a comment that really discouraged her; She was no longer the optimistic bunny. However, she quickly find herself doing what a cop does best when she started chasing this Weasel who stole a bag of crocus bulbs – the chasing scene provided some great comedy moment (e.g: the house tilting, the fake donut use as a weapon).

IPB ImageIPB ImageIPB Image

Despite capturing Duke Weaselton, she finds herself in trouble by Bogo – while being disciplined, she meets Mrs. Otteron who is looking to find her husband & since no one is doing, Judy promises that she will find him… She quickly realizes that there’s no lead beside one picture where she notices the Fox’s tail – she is on a mission to find him. Knowing that Nick knows stuff on Emmitt, she must bribe him to ensure that they’ll be working together. And in that moment, they started working together which gave us some of most iconic scene from the movie – the nudist camp where we meet Yax, meeting Mr. Big – the reveal is iconic, and Nick bringing Judy to the DMV where the workers are sloths; this is easily my favourite part of the movie – whether watching the movie or seeing the gifs, I just laugh; it brings joy to my life.

0woPde7OE1k

Fast forward to a few hours later, Nick & Judy finds out that Emmitt was crazy which led them to Manchas who turns out to be savage – Judy then saves Nick from being attacked. She then had no choice but to call for reinforcement where her boss then asks for her resignation. The first heartfelt moment of the movie happens shortly after that moment – Nick stands up for Judy & tells the boss that Judy had 48 hours to do so and she still has 10 hours to solve the case. Shortly after that moment, Nick shares a heartfelt story of his childhood where he was a junior ranger scouts & was bullied for being a fox; the moral of the story was to let Judy that she cannot show her co-workers that they are getting under her skin.

IPB ImageIPB Image

She has no choice to use some of her resources to solve this case – she goes to the assistant mayor, an individual that Judy consider to be ally, to have access to the cameras. She finds out more information about Mr. Otterman missing – she finds the location that he is being held where she finds out all the missing animals. And who is the person behind it? The mayor. She then has to give a press conference where Nick gave her advice – but unfortunately for Judy, she messed up and some of the words used had an impact on Nick; This moment is probably one of the saddest moment for me, especially when he asks her if she’s afraid of him… This leads to Judy going back home to reconnect where she truly finds out what’s making the animals going crazy; she then goes to find Nick & offers an heartfelt apology – another scene that almost got to me.

Nick & Judy are reunited as a team where they’re on a mission to find out who is turning all predators as savages. They are connecting the missing dots, and they then come face to face with the person behind all of it; it was the assistant mayor. How did they managed to get her to confess? They delivered an acting scene where Nick would turn into a savage and attack her, while recording the Assistant Mayor’s word… In the end, Nick went to the police academy & he is now Judy’s partner at the ZPD.

IPB ImageIPB ImageIPB Image

Overall, the movie is probably one of my favourite movie from the past decade. The movie has an excellent storyline, an incredible cast of voice actors, and hilarious characters (e.g.: The elephant owning the ice cream shop, Yax, and Clawhauser who is one of my favourite). The movie almost managed to give us some comedic moment while pulling on our heartstrings – something that Disney certainly knows how to do by now. Anyway, if you have never seen it, I highly recommend to watch it – there’s no excuses since it’s on Disney+.

DENISE
Zootopia

IPB ImageIPB Image

I first have to say that I hope MJ would be happy and proud that we got Zootopia into the finals, since I know it's a favorite of his. :teeheewave:Zootopia centers around the little underdog bunny rabbit, Judy Hopps, who has big dreams of becoming a police officer and has no reason at all to believe that she can't accomplish that.

IPB ImageIPB Image

She is the valedictorian of her class and moves to Zootopia to advance her career, yet still has to continually prove herself and abilities. :ermm: She's judged for being so small and a rabbit from Bunnyburrow. Zootopia is supposed to be the place where anyone can be anything and do what they want, so that's what Judy sets out to do. As a police officer, she is insulted by only being placed on parking duty, and then given 48 hours to try to find Mrs. Otterton's missing husband or she will lose her job. What the heck kind of nonsense is that? Judy deserves better. (!) She blackmails the devious fox, Nick Wilde, who previously fooled her into thinking he was a good guy, to help her solve the case, and thus WildeHopps is born.:giggle:

:dead:

I can't decide if Judy or Nick's faces in those last two gifs cracks me up more in this moment. :lmao: <3 Their relationship is pretty funny, as he doesn't take her seriously at first and always calls her Carrots, but that nickname turns out to be pretty cute later on. It turns out that as a child fox, Nick was actually ridiculed by the junior ranger scouts just because of his species, so he can relate to Judy.

At one point during their mission to solve the case, Nick takes Judy to his buddy, Flash, the fastest working sloth at the DMV. This scene, omg! LOL the sloths are hilarious and yeah, Flash is certainly not speedy. :giggle: I know my mom loves this scene so much, so shout out to her. <3 It is hilarious, especially when Judy is in a hurry and keeps talking over Flash, not knowing he has to say so many more words in every sentence. :lmao: And his laugh! Okay, I have to...

0woPde7OE1k

THE BEST.

When the 48 hours are almost up and Judy is asked to hand over her badge... ugh so sad. But Nick stands up for her and they get those last 10 hours to finish the job! As they should.... she was given 48 hours, not 38, and there shouldn't have been that time limit anyway.

Anyway, the duo has a lead as they found out Mr. Otterton had gone savage, returning to his feral state, and shouted something about Night Howlers. They find him with a number of other missing predators, who also turned savage, and are locked up so the mayor can figure out what's gone wrong.... Judy takes care of him and gets him and his staff turned in. Judy does a press conference following her solving the case, but after she makes a comment about the animals turning savage due to their predator biology, Nick runs off in anger and rejects her offer to be her police partner. :bye2: SO SAD. Unfortunately, people are so against others due to their species, which is really representative of how the actual world can be with prejudices. :( Judy is so upset about Nick that she leaves her job. :bye2: But then she discovers the truth which is that Night Howlers are crocus bulbs containing a neurotoxin with psychotropic effects on mammals! JUDY AND NICK MAKE UP.

IPB Image

It's so cute how he records her saying that she's dumb, the way she recorded him admitting things earlier in the movie. They hug and she tries to steal the recorder pen. :giggle: Adorable! They are back in business and confront the guy with the bulbs who gave them to a ram who has been shooting them at predators with a dart gun. They are off with their evidence, but get stopped by Mayor Bellwether, a sheep who reveals she was behind the whole thing due to her bias against predatory species. This is where Judy and Nick stage a moment where Nick turns savage and attacks Judy... but not really! They fool that evil sheep (with the fluffy head that Nick patted earlier :giggle: ) Of course they record Bellwether's confession to turn her in. The attacked animals are all saved, Judy gets her job back, and Nick graduates from the police academy and becomes Judy's partner! SEQUEL SOON PLEASE.

This is such a cute, fun, adventurous movie and I love the lead characters of Judy and Nick, as well as some of the supporting characters, a lot. Judy is super inspiring, as she never gives up and always strives to be the absolute best she can be, no matter what anyone else says. I love her personality, but one of my absolute favorite things about her is how her ears change, going up or down, depending on if she's happy or sad. :bye2: It's SO precious! She's honestly the cutest. Look at the ears.

This movie also teaches us all a lesson about judging people based on where they come from and not the actual souls that they are and have inside them. <3

14. Zootopia (2016)
I haven't seen Zootopia since it first came out (and even then I wasn't paying close attention to it since it was playing on the TV during family festivities) but I remember really enjoying it when I saw it. Its basic plot centres around the unlikely partnership formed between Judy Hopps (a police officer that happens to be a rabbit) and Nick Wilde (a con artist that happens to be a red fox) as they uncover a criminal conspiracy involving the disappearance of several predators. The animation on this film was exquisite rivalling the Pixar standards tbh and while I expected the ending that happened, it was still a cheerful ending and let the film end on a good note.

PUBLIC

ALEX
Zootopia - Probably an unpopular opinion but I never loved Zootopia. I loved the whole racism metaphor and all that, but it was a bit heavy-handed. And I mean personally, I’d go a bit harder, but it’s still a kids movie at the end of the day I guess lol. The Godfather parody is iconic. The animal jokes were a hit with me too. I liked the sheep villain, but I’m so tired of the secret villain trope. It was iconic with Prince Hans but it’s getting tiring. Let’s just be open with our villains people, okay? Can you imagine hiding Yzma from us for half the movie making us think she’s actually good? Boring. Also I can’t remember a single song from this movie so that doesn’t help. I wish I loved it more I really do :(. And there is a lot of good there! Just not iconic.

VICTORIA

I like this movie a lot but among this top 30 it gets lost in the shuffle for me. I always confuse it was a Pixar film; I do the same with Wreck-It Ralph which really should have made the finals instead of this film but The Princess and the Frog made the finals so I guess there were worse choices made. I do like this movie better than Frozen though so at least there is that. This movie is about animals and I love animals + Dinsey so this was an obvious thumbs up for me. I have a feeling this movie is going to overstay its welcome int he rankdown but I will be the only one to think so and it will become an underdog of some sorts. :haha: I guess we will see.

Zootopia is a 2016 American 3D computer-animated comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It it known as Zootropolis in the UK and Australia It is the 55th Disney animated feature film The film is directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore and is co-directed by Jared Bush. The voice cast is pretty stellar including some starts such as Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, Jenny Slate, Nate Torrence, Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake, Tommy Chong, J. K. Simmons, Octavia Spencer, Alan Tudyk, and Shakira. That is an all-star voice cast imo. The movies follows the nlikely partnership between a rabbit police officer and a red fox con artist as they uncover a criminal conspiracy involving the disappearance of predators. The movie is cute and the animation is amazing. The scene with the sloth always has me rolling in the floor.

The movie is set in a world populated by anthropomorphic mammals. Rabbit Judy Hopps from rural Bunnyburrow fulfills her childhood dream of becoming a police officer in urban Zootopia. Despite Judy being the academy valedictorian, Chief Bogo doubts her potential and delegates her to parking duty. On her first day, she is hustled by a con artist fox duo, Nick Wilde and Finnick. Finnick is hilarious btw. :dead: Judy abandons parking duty to arrest Duke Weaselton, a weasel who stole a bag of crocus bulbs known as Midnicampum Holicithias. She is reprimanded by Chief Bogo and as that is happening an otter named Mrs. Otterton enters the office pleading for someone to find her husband Emmitt. Emmitt is one of the fourteen predators who have gone missing. Bogo lets a volunteering Judy take on the case when Assistant Mayor Bellwether praises the assignment. He allows her 48 hours to find Emmitt on the condition that is she fails she must resign from the force. And we all know Judy Rudy doesn't know when to quit.

She finds out that Nick was the last to see Emmitt she blackmails him into helping her by recording his confession to tax evasion on her carrot pen. :giggle: That pen comes into play later. Together they track Otterton to a limousine owned by a crime boss Mr Big. who reveals that Mr. Otterton went savage and reverted back to a feral state and attacked his chauffeur Manchas. Manchas mentions who's Otterton yelled about "Night Howlers" before the attack. Manchas himself turns savage and ends up chasing Nick and Judy. Judy saves Nick and traps Manchas. She calls ZPD for help and Manchas disappears before they arrive. Chief Bogo demands for her resignation Nick defends Judy and tells his story about the junior rangers scouts in which he was tormented due to his species. Judy and Nick travel to the City Hall to access the city's traffic cameras. They discover that Manchas was captured by wolves. They locate the missing predators who have all turned savage. They are being imprisoned at Cliffside Asylum where Mayor Leodore Lionheart is secretly imprisoning them while attempting to determine the cause of their behavior.Judy records video of Lionheart discussing the plot with her cell phone and reports him to the ZPD. Lionheart and the asylum staff are arrested for false imprisonment, and Bellwether becomes the new mayor.

Judy is praised for solving the case and asks Nick to join the ZPD as her partner. After the press conference Judy suggests that the cause of the savage behavior is the biology of the predatory. Angry, Nick rejects Judy's offer and abandons her. Hateful speech and discrimination against predators run rampant throughout Zootopia. Feeling guilty for what has transpired Just resigs from the ZPF and returns to Bunnyburrow. Back at home, Judy learns that the Night Howlers are actually the crocus bulbs Weaselton stole and they contain a neurotoxin that has severe psychotropic effects on mammals. She returns to Zootopia and tearfully reconciles with Nick. The pair confront Weaselton, who is pressured by Mr. Big and reveals that the bulbs he stole were meant for a ram named Doug. They find Doug in a laboratory hidden in the city subway developing a drug made from Night Howlers, which he has been shooting at predators with a dart gun.

Judy and Nick obtain the serum as evidence, but before they can reach the ZPD, Bellwether confronts them in the Natural History Museum revealing herself as the mastermind behind a prey-supremacist conspiracy to frame predators as dangerous and savage. Bellwether retrieves the evidence after Nick refuses to abandon an injured Judy. She shoots Nick with a serum pellet to make him attack Judy, but the pellets she is using are revealed to have been replaced with blueberries by Nick. Judy then baits Bellwether into openly declaring her role in the attacks and records the confession just as Bogo and his deputies arrive at the scene. THAT RECORDING PEN COMES IN CLUTCH AGAIN. :dead: Bellwether is arrested for her treachery while Lionheart publicly denies knowledge of her plot and defends his imprisonment of the savage predators as a necessary precaution to maintain public safety. The savage animals are cured and Judy rejoins the ZPD. Nick graduates from the Zootopia Police Academy as the city's first fox police officer and becomes Judy's partner. The first rabbit and fox police officers. DON'T YOU LOVE TO SEE IT. The movie teaches us a lot about stereotypes and prejudices so it really is an important film in todays society. The message is more imprints than ever.

The movie is not known for its songs despited the bop from Shakira. I'm going to post some clips of my favorite parts of the movie and then post Shakira in all her glory. :bobo:

Zootopia premiered at the Brussels Animation Film Festival in Belgium on February 13, 2016 and went into general theatrical release in conventional 2D, Disney Digital 3-D, RealD 3D, and IMAX 3D formats in the United States on March 4. The critics praised its screenplay, animation, voice acting, and subject matter. It opened to record-breaking box offices in several countries and earned a worldwide gross of over $1 billion, making it the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2016, the 42nd-highest-grossing film of all time, the fourth animated film to pass $1.024 billion in global box-office earnings and and cost $150 million to make. It was Walt Disney Animation Studios' highest-grossing film since 2013's Frozen. The film earned numerous accolades and it was named one of the top ten best films of 2016 by the American Film InstituteIt received an Academy Award, Golden Globe, Critics' Choice Movie Award, and Annie Award for Best Animated Feature Film and it also received a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film, but lost to Kubo and the Two Strings. It did beat out Moana for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The movie received a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. On January 22, 2019, Disney Parks announced that a themed area based on Zootopia is in development at Shanghai Disneyland Park. A sequel is currently being discussed and Ginnifer Goodwin revealed that she wishes to reprise her role as Judy Hopps in a sequel. I hope Zootopia 2 comes to pass because the movies message is still needed to this day.

WALLACE
Zootopia (2016)
I never saw Zootopia so I will give it the #27 spot on my list. It was one of the films I was nearly considering to cut but ultimately decided not to. The main thing I know and remember from is Shakira’s song “Try Everything,” so I will link that.
