I grew up on this movie and always adored it. The animals are SO CUTE and I just love them. Them and this movie will always have a special place in my heart and I can't think about it without getting all the fuzzy and weepy feels. Oh, and I also have memories of watching this movie in French in French class (obviously)! <3

The Fox and the Hound tells the story of the unlikely friendship between Tod, the fox, and Copper, the dog... or I guess I have to say hound. :giggle: It really is quite an emotional story for me and starts off that way with Tod losing his mommy. :( He's a lone baby fox and quickly looked after by Big Mama the owl. She and her bird friends get this nice lady named Tweed to take Tod into her home and raise him as a domestic animal. He still likes to go outside and wander around, and that is how he meets his new BFF, Copper. Copper is the new partner in crime for Chief, a hunting dog owned by Slade. He plans to raise Copper up as a hunting dog as well. But for now, Copper is an innocent puppy who befriends Tod the fox. The scenes of them playing together as babies feed my soul!! :bye2:

IPB ImageIPB ImageIPB Image

They are so cute and THIS is what pure love is. They don't know or care that their kind are supposed to be enemies. They are just friends and that's it. :bye2: The best friend song plays and I'm done.

IPB Image
IPB Image

Also, the parts where they get in trouble from their owners make me so sad. THEIR SAD LITTLE SLOUCHING FACES. :( Ugh my heart can't take it. And this Slade guy chasing after Tod with his shotgun infuriates me to the highest degree. (!) The way he talks to Tweed is really bad too.

Soon enough, Slade takes Copper and Chief away on a trip to train Copper on his skills during the hunting season, and by the time they return, him and Tod have both grown a lot. During their time apart, Tod was always sure that they'd remain best friends and Copper would never hurt him. Big Mama wasn't so sure. :(

IPB Image

The two reunite, and it is quite difficult as Copper is now a full-on hunting dog, trained to go after animals like Tod. :( Copper still values Tod's friendship though and doesn't want to hurt him. Unfortunately, Chief and Slade are woken to Tod's presence and chase him away. Copper protects him from being hurt, but when Chief injures his leg in the process, Copper grows angry with Tod and is no longer wanting to protect him. It's at this point that Tweed decides to release Tod into the wild since he is no longer safe in her area. Um, please do not leave an animal raised in captivity alone in the wild to fend for itself. :bye2: This is just wrong, not to mention SO SAD.

IPB Image

UGHH. I hate this scene. Poor Tod. He has a rough night, although he does befriend some nice animals... and even better when he meets a female fox named Vixey who helps him adapt to the forest life.

Sadly, Slade and Copper are on the hunt and traps have been laid out to capture Tod. Slade even sets the entrance to the fox burrow on fire. Thankfully Tod and Vixey escape safely, but the chase is on. A bear interrupts it all and makes things so much more dangerous. Slade falls into one of his own fox traps and I can't even be sorry. The bear fights Copper, but Tod jumps in to take his place which is so :bye2: Tod and Copper both end up falling down a waterfall to escape the bear... and Copper realizes what Tod did for him and what he means to him. LET ME CRY. Slade shows up again, ugh, ready to shoot, but Copper stands in front of Tod and will NOT LET IT HAPPEN. (!)

IPB Image

That is the friendship I know and love. I really love the story this movie tells about two characters who are expected to be enemies, yet befriend each other anyway. They don't see things how they "should be" and just judge each other for who they are. Even though it gets tough after Copper's training, in the end, the friendship prevails, proving that love conquers all, and that is beautiful. <3

The Fox and the Hound - Kinda the underdog Disney movie. Not really appreciated at the time. I’m very glad to see this make it to the endgame because I think it’s such an important movie. They touch on the importance of friendships, even amongst an unlikely duo. But more importantly, they teach kids about how friendships can sometimes end. It’s a tough lesson and is the reason I didn’t like this movie the first time I watched it as a kid. Not that their friendship necessarily ended, they’ll always love each other, but they can’t stay together forever. They come from different walks of life and must go on different journeys. Everyone’s had friendships that end, or losing friends because they have to move far away. I’m glad to see it portrayed on screen for kids. Willow Tweed getting rid of Tod is one of the most underreported saddest scenes of Disney history btw.

The Fox and the Hound is a film that is underrated and I'm because of that I'm surprised it made the top 30. It's one of the saddest Disney movies ever as its message parallels real life in so many ways. I'm glad this underrated gem sneaked its way in the finals tbh. The Fox and the Hound is a 1981 American animated drama film produced by Walt Disney Productions and loosely based on the novel of the same name by Daniel P. Mannix. It's The 24th Disney animated feature film which tells the story of of two best friends who didn't know they were supposed to be enemies. Tod, a red fox and Copper, a hound dog. These two friends struggle to preserve their friendship despite their emerging instincts and the surrounding social pressures demanding them to be adversaries. The story is beautifully told and the story is one of Disney's realest stories. Like I said, the film follows Tod and Copper who become best friends. Tod's owner is Widow Tweed, a friendly farmer and Copper's owner is Amos Slade, a hunter who owns another hunting dog, Chief. Tweed and Slade are neighbors. As months pass, Tod and Copper both reach adulthood; Copper has become an experienced hunting dog and Tod has grown up into a handsome fox. One night Tod visits Cooper and Copper explains to Tod she still values Tod as a friend but he is now a hunting dog and things are different now. This conversation wakes up Chief who lets Slade know Tod is on their property. In the chase Copper catches Tod but lets him go. Tod escapes onto the railroad track but Chief follows him. Chief gets struck by the train and falls into the river below and injures his leg. Copper and Slade blame Tod for the accident and vow vengeance. Tweed leaves him at a game preserve realizing Tod is no longer safe with her. :'( Here is the scene. :broken:

y3oZ0Il4QH4&t

Tod, now abandoned in the woods must learn to live on his own. Slade and Copper plan to kill Tod. Slade and Copper trespass into the preserve to hunt Tod. As Tod manages to escape Slade's leghold traps Copper and Slade pursue Tod. They hide in their burrow while Slade tries trapping Jim by setting fire to its entrance. Tod escapes but is chased up a top of a hill near a waterfall. Closing in for the kill they are approached by a bear. Slade accidentally is caught on one of his own traps and Copper attempt to fight the bear but is overpowered bu the bear. Tod protects his friend and fights the bear until they both fall down the waterfall. Once Copper reaches dry land having fought of the bear but is met with Slade and his gun. Copper puts himself between Tod and the gun in order to stop Slade from killing him. Just as Tod saved his life Copper is returning the favor. Copper and Slade go back home but not before sharing one last smile before parting. I need to watch this movie again and ugly sob. :'(

After doing this write-up I'm really glad this movie made the finals now. It's not one people bring up when discussing their favorites and it doesn't a song that people really remember but it does have "Best of Friend" which describes growing up in less than 3 minutes.

It cost $12 million to make and made $63.5 million at the box office. It spawned a sequel in 2006 entitled The Fox and the Hound 2. It has a 70% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a live-action adaption is schedules to make its debut on Disney+.

Oooh I think The Fox and the Hound is probably the film I am most surprised to see making it to the Top 30 of this round. I’m not disappointed or upset as I like this film, or at least i think so. I just remember The Fox and the Hound being nominated a lot, and obviously getting saved a lot but yayy for it making it to the Top 30. I don’t expect it to rank very high but I’m putting it at #23.

The Fox and the Hound is one of those Disney films that gut punches me every single time I watch the film. Honestly. The movie is so f*cking sad. Anyways. The Fox and the Hound might be one of the more shocking finalist choices. While I agree, and it's a travesty that films like Coco, Wall-E, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Spirited Away, etc. were sacrificed for this film to advance as far as it did, I will keep this write-up very positive. Because I genuinely believe this movie to be very good and a departure from the normal Disney movie in many ways.

The 24th animated film released by Disney, and the most expensive animated film produced to date, The Fox and the Hound tells the story of Tod and Copper, two best friends turned rivals due to the influences of society. Since Denise and Victoria did a wonderful job diving into the story of the film, I will not spend too much time on the details of the plot. I will instead touch on the very important themes explored in this film, which are probably too often overlooked by most Disney fans. Myself included.

The Fox and the Hound explores the themes of innate biases and prejudices, the loss of friendship, the impacts of society on behavior, and growing apart from old friendships. These themes are probably what make The Fox and the Hound such an underrated gem - a lot of these themes are not easily grasped by the intended audience. Or maybe the themes are not salient enough in the film for children to really respond to significantly. However, viewing the film again really highlights how much heart this film really had all along. I think the film does not play into these themes with a heavy hand, and all for the better maybe. The film instead focuses on the lives of the animals in the story, which is enough to drive the themes home heavily and poignantly. Against better judgment and against maybe their own desires, the friendship and the love shared between Copper and Tod are just so easily drowned out by society and the people immediately near them. Poor Tod is so awfully placed in imminent danger by somebody once considered to be his friend, and all because society creates an expectations as to the path that one should take in life, and this includes who once can or cannot associate with as a friend.

Such powerful messages for such a "forgettable" Disney film. Rewatching The Fox and the Hound really makes me grateful to see this film in the finals - not over certain films of course, but mainly because the film portrays life in a much more realistic way than most Disney films do. The movie is emotionally impactful in a way that most films (Disney or not) fail to be, and that is because of how simplistically the themes are handled. The movie allows the actions of the characters speak for themselves, and a beautiful film is born from there.

Maybe not the most original, outstanding, unique, or transcendent Disney film, but beneath the likable and charming exterior, lies a deeply powerful film that should be admired for its thematic reach. And for the brilliant performances from an A+ cast. Particularly the performance of Pearl Bailey as Big Mama.

The Fox and the Hound should receive the most surprising presence in the Top 30 - I personally don’t think this is a movie that is a personal favourite of any rankers which is why I am surprised that it made it this far. In general, this is probably a movie that a lot of people forget that is Disney or even exist. And for those reasons, I feel it’s only fair that this movie don’t win the rankdown & receive a lower placement which is why it falls here on my ranking.

Sorry but I am cutting both these last two for the sole fact to get justification for Wall-E.

08. Incredibles 2 (2018)

So I finally managed to catch Incredibles 2 in time for this final write-up, and I'm glad I was able to because I wound up loving it a lot as well. I think over time, I could eventually place it slightly higher, but I didn't want #recencybias to become a thing for me. That said, when I found out an Incredibles 2 was getting made (finally), I was ecstatic. The fourteen-year gap between this and the original film was rough (especially considering the amount of Cars films we got in between :ermm:), but I'm glad this film kept the same tone and spirit as the original. It was easy to get right back into their Universe, and I'm glad that the film managed to live up to the expectations the original set for it.

Edna Mode remains an icon, don't @ me. :*

12. The Incredibles 2
I don’t think this movie is as strong as it’s the first and felt like they waited way too long for them to make a second one. I think the hype of this movie made it the success that it was but I felt overall it was not as strong as the first movie. I did love the highlight of Elastic girl and her abilities where as the first movie focused more on Mr. Incredible. I personally love the scene where baby Jack Jack finds his powers because every time my daughter does her adorable little laugh and it makes the whole movie for me. It gives it this high rank if I am being honest.

I do actually prefer Incredibles 2 to the original, although both are great, quality films. I saw this one in theaters twice, and I actually saw it with my brother shortly before he moved across the state. :bye2: So there is a sentimental memory. But I really love it regardless! The characters we know and love are all back in full force, and Jack-Jack had a much bigger role this time, which I am HERE for.

IPB Image

Incredibles 2 picks up shortly after the first movie, despite the actual 14 year time difference for us. :giggle: The family is once again facing trouble for their career as superheros, as they are unable to stop the Underminer from robbing a bank. The Superhero Relocation Program is shut down, and to make matters worse for poor Violet, the boy she likes finds out about her powers and has to have his memory of her wiped. Just what an angsty teenage girl needs. :ermm:

IPB ImageIPB Image

Things start to look up when Elastigirl (Mrs. Incredible) is offered secret superhero missions from a rich man named Winston and his sister, Evelyn. These missions are to be recorded and shown to the public to help them trust superheros again. Mr. Incredible becomes a stay-at-home dad while his wife is out solving crime. He attempts to help the children with their schoolwork and other problems, which is one of my favorite parts of the movie. Jack-Jack is starting to gain his powers and is wrecking all kind of havoc! It's absolutely amazing. Edna designs a suit to help control his powers, but Jack-Jack can do what he wants.

IPB Image

Elastigirl successfully catches a bad guy in the Screenslayer and realizes that he was an innocent pizza deliveryman who was was wearing mind-control goggles. When Elastigirl is forced to wear the same goggles, she discovers Evelyn, who hired her, is the evil genius behind the Screenslayer. She hates superheros, due to an incident in her past and wants to ruin their reputation for good. Since Elastigirl has those dangerous googles on, Evelyn is able to use her to lure Mr. Incredible in as bait. She also is able to hypnotize a bunch of other superheros, including the Incredible family's good friend, Frozone. The kids are put in to action as they drive a car to get to their parents and save the day!

IPB Image

They succeed in getting Elastigirl back to herself and remove the googles, and then all work to free the rest of the superheros, including Mr. Incredible. Evelyn gets arrested and superheros have their name back! Superheros are respected again. I love this family.

ZUMmIYVVhkY

Incredibles 2 deserves much better than this very low ranking. Just saying. This will be one of my shorter write-ups. Denise and Victoria did a wonderful job summarizing the plot details of the Pixar Animation Studios follow-up sequel to its incredible predecessor. Victoria also touched on the massive global financial and critical success of the film, which really should be noted for a film that was released fourteen years after its predecessor. Not to mention, the predecessor is one of the most beloved Disney films ever made. Therefore, Incredibles 2 had a massive mountain to climb in order to really achieve such critical acclaim and commercial success. The film should also be commended for the brilliant animation work. Incredibles 2 sees Pixar reach a new animating zenith.

But what I find most commendable about this film is the story's focus on Elastigirl/Helen Parr. Incredibles 2 actually tackles the conventional views on gender roles and flips them on their head in a way that Disney so rarely does. A company that hardly strays from heteronormative values, Elastigirl becomes the focus of the film because she is actually the most qualified and the best choice to reintroduce superheroes to the public! The film even chooses to discuss that gender may be the reason why women superheroes were hardly ever chosen to be the representatives for the group of superheroes at large. During Incredibles 2, we are given a full-length view of a woman character on an adventure driven by her own ambitions, with zero men involved. Such a fantastic choice honestly. Mr. Incredible even supports Elastigirl and is happy for her successes, even if he is struggling slightly with his new role as a stay-at-home parent. The film does not play into stereotypes, and genuinely seems interested one exploring Elastigirl as the exciting and interesting character she is all on her own.

In comparison to the original, I want to briefly touch on the ways in which this film is better, and the ways in which this film does not quite measure up to the original.

Better:

1) More superheroes! Voyd is amazing. The first film obviously was devoid of superheroes for plot reasons, but even the inclusion of supporting/minor superheroes added to the high entertainment value of this film.

2) Elastigirl as the main character. Bonus points for this.

3) More screen time for Frozone. Obviously very important.

4) The development of Jack-Jack's character! The never-ending superpowers is hilarious and is utilized so effectively in the film at all of the opportune moments. Jack-Jack also really drives home the idea that parenting is full of anxieties. Jack-Jack is great, and this film is full of him.

5) Action scenes are incredible. The two films are probably equal in terms of producing exciting, inventive, entertaining, jam-packed action scenes with amazing direction. But the beautiful CGI animation in this film just slightly gives the sequel the edge.

Worse:

1) Violet and Dash are on the sidelines. Violet is my favorite. The sequel is far more focused on telling the story from the perspective of the parents, while the original interestingly incorporated the subplots of Violet's difficulty and desire to control her powers + Dash's need to embrace his powers and his true identity. These compelling subplots are noticeably missing from the sequel, which makes the film less interesting on the whole. Whole Family >>> Just Parents.

2) Syndrome >>>>>>>>>>> Evelyn Deavor. Syndrome is key to the success of the original film. Evelyn Deavor as the surprise villain is super predictable. While Disney is not in the business of subtlety, Evelyn Deavor was just too predictable as the villain. I think Syndrome is just so well-done and so deliciously evil, self-serving, and dark in his motives that Evelyn Deavor just feels...lackluster? IDK. I like Evelyn Deavor and love Catherine Keener, but this is maybe the most noticeable difference in quality between the two films.

3) Tied to the issue of the villain, the sequel is noticeably less high-stakes. Syndrome is committing mass genocide. Evelyn Deavor is just trying to brainwash people into thinking superheroes are bad for the public and essentially send them back into hiding. High-stakes worked incredibly well for the first film, and this film could have benefitted from the same tension.

4) Less emotional conflict and overall emotional impact. This might be very subjective. But the first film has so much weight: Elastigirl becoming increasingly tired with domesticity, Mr. Incredible feeling held back by his wife and defying her want to be law-abiding citizens, Elastigirl suspecting infidelity and being driven to defend her family and discover the truth, Violet and Dash noticing the family drama and trying to adjust and adapt, etc. This movie really lacks all of that since the first film ties up all of the family conflict pretty neatly.

5) Scattered agendas/themes. None of the family/main characters really meet at one intersection in this film in terms of personal development, etc.

6) Still too little on the world of superheroes! We need more on the history of superheroes in this cinematic universe.

Okay. So this is far from a short write-up. But Incredibles 2 is just very good and proves that Pixar is always firing on all cylinders. An incredible film that nearly rivals the original, and truly makes a name for itself outside of being just a sequel. I love this movie, and more of you need to go see it already.

Do not let my ranking fool you. I do love this film more than, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp, Dumbo, Pinocchio, The Fox and the Hound, The Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland, Bambi, etc... You maybe wondering why the low placement then? I figured there was going to be some Pixar bias so I had to rank some of them low in order to not make it a Pixar top 10. Do I think this movie should have made the finals? No. Would I rather have Wall-E, Big Hero 6, Coco, Lilo & Stich or Wreck-It Ralph in its place? Yes. The only Disney film that deserved any sequels in the finals is Toy Story and that's the tea on that. :* I was really excited for this movie when it came out last year. I mean the first Incredibles movie was amazing and we patiently waited 14 years for a sequel. I just need Pixar/Disney to release a proper sequel to Monster's Inc. and we will be good. Incredibles 2 is a 2018 American computer-animated superhero film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The film is again written and directed by Brad Bird. It's obviously the sequel to 2004's The Incredibles. The film follows the events of the first film which makes jumping back into this setting super easy. So the Parr family tries to restore the public's trust in superheroes while balancing their family life. This film follows more Helen Parr/Elastigirl this time and she is chosen to be put in the spotlight rather than Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible. So after the events of the first film and all the destruction it cause the government was outraged and shut down the Superhero Relocation Program. The Parrs are forced to relocate without any assistance from the government. Frozone, Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl receive an offer from Winston Deavor, a wealthy businessman. He and his sister Evelyn propose sending the heroes on secret missions which will be recorded and publicized to regain public trust in superheroes. Seems legit right? Well, Winston's intentions are pure but Evelyn's not so much. She is revealed to be the mastermind behind the movies villian, Screenslaver. She secretly hates superheroes because her mother and father died while trying to call for superheroes instead of calling the police. She uses mind-control to take over Elastigirl, Mr. Incredible, Frozone and other superheroes in order to cause enough chaos with them to ensure that the public never trusts superheroes again and making sure they are outlawed forever. Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack Parr rescue their parents and the other superheroes. They defeat Evelyn and save the world. Due to their actions superheroes around the world regain legal status. The film is great and most of the voice cast return for the sequel like Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Samuel L. Jackson, Eli Fucile and Brad Bird. Dash had be recast because the original actor was a kid during the first time so Huckleberry Milner voiced him this time.

I love that this film focuses more on the family dynamic rather than the superhero genre. It's hilarious watching Bob trying to fill in for Helen and take over that role when he is so used to being the one in the spotlight. The Pixar films are generally known for their music so instead of posting some videos of that I'll post some of my favorite scenes from the sequel.

AND THE STAR OF INCREDIBLES 2: JACK-JACK PARR. The hilarious racoon scene and the scene where Jack-Jack and Edna Mode have bonded. Jack-Jack is my spirit animal.

Incredibles 2 was theatrically released in the United States on June 15, 2018. The film received largely positive reviews and praise for its animation, humor and musical score. The film cost $200 millio to make and grossed $182.7 million in its opening weekend domestically. It set the record for best debut for an animated film and has grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide That makes it the fourth highest-grossing film of 2018 and the third highest-grossing animated film (behind the 2019 version of The Lion King and Frozen) and the 17th highest-grossing film of all-time. It is also the third Pixar film to gross 1 billion dollars after Finding Dory and Toy Story 3. Incredibles 2 was named by the National Board of Review as the Best Animated Film of 2018. The film was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the 76th Golden Globe Awards and 91st Academy Awards but it lost both times to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. A possible third installment for this franchises has not been ruled out as both writer/director Brad Bird, producer John Walker and cast members have all expressed interest in a third one. So yeah, I love this film. It's incredible. :giggle: It's not as good as the first one imo but it's damn close.

A little tidbit but it bothers me that this film is not called The Incredibles 2 and is called Incredibles 2. It's just something I noticed. It's probably no big deal to others but for someone with OCD it's irksome. Okay, bye now. :w00twave: JACK-JACK FOR PRESIDENT. :sorcerer:

14 years following the release of “The Incredibles”, Disney Pixar decided to finally release a sequel to the beloved movie. In the sequel, the original cast (Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, and Samuel L. Jackson) returned to reprise their role while we were introduced to Catherine Keener and Bob Odenkirk. And the sequel proved to be a success for Disney Pixar where it grosses more than $1.2 billion.

While the movie found some success, I certainly didn’t contribute to it as I have yet to seen it – I will probably watch it once I get Disney+ but I am in no rush to do so as I find “The Incredibles” to be incredibly overrated. Do I feel bad for this ranking? Not at all since many rankers decided to cut beloved movies that they never seen – I’m just taking a lesson from their “How to play a rankdown” book.

Incredibles 2 - Another one I haven’t seen since it came out. I loved it in the theaters but it should’ve been gayer. The first Incredibles is great and this isn’t as good. Didn’t need to be in this top 30 but we can’t have nice things.

I’m putting Incredibles 2 at #30 because I haven’t seen this movie yet but I would like to see it at some point.
