S11 Albums Thread, What can we expect from P2, Jessica, etc.? Options

These are interesting. I think it's pretty obvious they are referring to PP, Jess and Skylar here.

My issue is there are other artists who are even more current and/or more similar to them that they can model on, eg:

P2 - Mumford & Sons or Gotye
Jessica - Jennifer Hudson or Beyonce
Skylar - Miranda Lambert or Reba

The Idol machine seems to be at 5 years behind the music biz most of the time, and doesn't think outside the box, beyond HAC.
There's less pressure on Skylar to release quickly than P2 because he's the winner while she came 5th.

But both of them are very stubborn and headstrong so we could be in for a very bloody (and popcorn worthy) artistic battle with their labels.

I agree. I def. think PP should do more songs similar to Mumford & Sons like "Home." I know he said he wasn't a huge fan of that style, but "Home" is a hit, and he needs a few songs like this to get his career jump started. He should throw in a few folksy/blues/jazz songs too, as that is what he likes, including a few originals he wrote. PLEASE NOTHING like John Mayer though Most boring male singer ever And Paul McDonald.. so random! I do like Train though.

As for Jessica, I don't want her to go a Jennifer Hudson route, as her music bores me personally.. I wanna see her do her urban/dance stuff. Her original songs are really good.. so much better than ballads. A few ballads would be okay, but I don't want an entire album with them. I love Kelly Clarkson, but really don't see her being at all similar to her. I could see her doing music slightly similar to Rihanna/Beyonce, but hopefully it won't be too similar, cuz they are becoming pretty redundant tbh.

As for Skylar, I don't think she wants to do country-pop. I really don't think she's too similar to Kellie Pickler.. I hope she doesn't do cheesy stuff like her And while Carrie is good, Skylar has a slightly more country-rock sound. I definitely see her being similar to Miranda Lambert, who is one of the few country artists I actually do like songs by.. and I hope she goes with a sound like her. and thankfully the description didn't have Taylor Swift in it, as I CAN'T STAND her music So I really hope she does NOTHING like her, but I'm pretty sure she has no interest in doing so.

P2 - Fun, Gotye, Mumford & Sons
Jessica - Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj (age-appropriate)
Skylar - I don't care about country

It's really simple. Put out what's on the radio. But Idol is too dumb. Hope Interscope is better, though. They did do that with Haley/Adele but she wasn't marketed well.

I can see these comparisons to an extent.
