Here's a new video of The Dance, just posted Sunday, from last Monday, June 18th, at KISS. Scotty talks to the crowd a bit before singing and the quality is really good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJoGg55NWQo...eature=youtu.be Awesome video! Scotty is so funny when he's just talking to the crowd, very fast to come up with responses and nothing really throws him off. -------------------- |

Yes unfortunately Guess this should really be on the band page, but since we started here: That means: Joey, Matt, and Justin are married and Jeff and Nathan are single??? --------------------

August looks pretty thin on Scotty's schedule. From a tweet from Judy, looks like that may be a radio tour month.
Judy Cooke McCreery@JudyMacGarner “@xoKayla123xo: Dear @ScottyMcCreery @ashleymccreery2@JudyMacGarner will y’all PLEASE come 2Texas -hopefully this August 4a radio show! Yeah, I know, he starts college but he's only going 2-3 days a week. --------------------

I don't thinkScotty's going to schedule any radio tours far from home from say from August 15 on....but early August he could do a few.
Those pictures are great -- and yep those eyes are really bluuuuue. Well, from the photos and videos we've seen, Scotty had a few places on the last part of his tour that definitely qualified as honky tonks/semi saloons! -------------------- BEACON THEATER, NEW YORK |

Today, I got to thinking about the free concerts Scotty has been doing for the various radio stations. As much as I would love the people in TX to see Scotty (as an example), I just have this feeling these freebies are not really doing him any good.
The stations appear to play him before he does the shows for them, then it's business as usual...few if any spins. It's nice that a lot of people got to see him without cost...but are they also going to pay $60 to see him next time he's in their area as a solo or with Brad? All those people who tweeted how they couldn't wait for the McPaisley show in West Palm Beach...wonder how many actually bought tickets at $50-$75.00, especially when they realized Scotty is only going to sing seven songs? It's not that I think he shouldn't do the occasional low-cost ($5.00 in Calif.) or free show for charity, but the radio stations are the real beneficiaries of these invitation only/free shows...and it doesn't cost them a dime in most cases. Problem is, I guess, he's just starting out...and doesn't have the clout to just turn down these no-cost gigs. Wonder if he made any money FL - after paying the band, the travel costs, etc.? -------------------- BEACON THEATER, NEW YORK |

I've been thinking along those same lines. There is a lot of expense to pull these "free" shows off and I agree, the radio stations seem to be real winners. The only consolation is hopefully Scotty is picking up new fans. It's real disappointing that the stations don't continue to support him, especially with the enthusiastic crowds he draws.

I think, if I understand correctly, that this is more about long-term good will...many people do these radio shows before they even have anything to sell/play. It's all about the long term... -------------------- |

I think that the "long term good" theory was formulated by the radio stations years ago. It's the pitch they made to get young artists, just starting out, to do these gigs -- when radio did have some power. So, say in 1995, a newbie gave these free shows, by 1997 or 1998 the p.d.s/djs rewarded them with spins when they finally released an album or a second album. Air time meant sales because Youtube, ipods, mp3s, etc. were not factors in sales or artist recognition.
Even now that radio plays a much less important role in an artist's success, they still want artists to go along with the old freebie theory. I can see doing in-house radio acoustic concerts playing a few songs to help ratings increase and some recognition, but asking them to do full-blown concerts (requiring full bands, travel expense, etc.) is expecting a lot. The money to cover all these costs comes from the artist and his label...not out radio's pocket. It's split between them, coming from other profits. -------------------- BEACON THEATER, NEW YORK |
