Based on the talents alone and its strategic slot post the Superbowl, I'd not be surprised with the result.

Oh I agree, the Season 11 auditions are terrible, and the format suffers by comparison to The Voice and The X Factor - the live audience and backing track is way more fun to watch than the acapella performances in front of the judges, imo. Not to mention, the judges on the Voice are so much better than the judges on the other shows. I'm just saying the 37 million figure is obviously inflated. I'm guessing tonight's numbers will be around 12 million, and they'd need 16-19 million to challenge Idol right now, and 20-25 million viewers to challenge Idol if it picks up it's usual numbers during the live rounds. I'd be thrilled to see The Voice be the #1 show, but let's not get crazy just yet. --------------------

1. It's the Superbowl with almost 3 times the amount of lead in...did Voice get 3 times what AI got?
2. It was on much closer to the end of the game and much earlier at night 3. It was the very first show of the season. AI had two lackluster shows before it's after football show. -------------------- AI Forever: Kelly Clay Diana Carrie Kat Melinda Syesha Allison Crystal Haley Jessica

All I know is that I am watching The Voice, not American Idol. The last time I really watch American Idol was when they had Adam Lambert.
The interaction between The Voice judges has much more personality than American Idol and X-Factor. Christina Aguilera is hilarious! My only negative so far with The Voice is that the stage and viewing room looks "cold." Notice on American Idol and X-Factor, there is a warmer and more friendlier feel to the stages and back area. It premiered right after the most watched event of the year give it time and see if those numbers stick.

I take it back. Idol might have some cause for concern, with those numbers. 19 million in the 9:00 hour? Idol needs to step up their game this season.

Everyone loves a good Underdog. Simon's over the top predictions didn't let X Factor be that, and American Idol has been the top dog for too long anyways. People are rooting for The Voice now.
