The NYC stations keep reporting spins for Whattaya want from me = why can't they move on. Plus the spins seem to come at 5am and 11am - not when those of us condemned to work can listen.

From the Nashville interview Q & A today, someone apparently asked Adam about the problem with getting airplay, he acknowledged there is a problem, lot of politics involved and "station demographics."

In other words, sounds like there's still a perception that Adam doesn't have younger fans, at least for Top 40. That's what worries me sometimes when you look at who shows up for M & G's. Granted, for teens to go, a parent would have had to pull them from school to go, and a lot won't do that, but I was hoping to see more late teens and 20's. I didn't see any at the one I went to. They were primarily late 30's, 40's and 50's.

that perception of a demo "problem" is ridiculous, they need to let it go already. their argument's invalid. yeah he's got older fans just as he has child fans (and everything in between) bc his appeal reaches the MASSES!

Radio for teens has to recognize that listening is kind of restricted to non-school hours. Late teens and early 20s may be listening to radio - but probably more into downloading. Jeez, if you listen to most stations in your car in commuting hours - it's aimed at "commuters".
And then there's the market - my oldest child is up in Providence RI - college country - so she has radio that plays alternative and everything else under the sun.
My middle daughter is in NW Jersey - country apparently suits her fine.

I hear BTIKM at least once a day on my station in Toledo on my ride home from work. I really look forward to it. As for radio play I think a lot of it is politics and Adam having to prove that he's still relevant to the current scene. First time around he was able to get top 40 play even though he had older fans, but he also had lots of buzz coming off idol. He has been gone from the scene for quite some time making this album and he needs a song that is going to explode and be so catchy radio can't ignore it. A song that the young kids will eat up and enjoy as much as my apparently old ass. (I'm a whopping 32 years old!) I'm also hoping that all this radio promotion he's been doing helps out the next single as well, even though he is singing BTIKM. Have the majority of station's he's visited been HAC stations? It exhausts me to think he'll have to do this all over again to pop stations in a month or so. I can't imagine how Adam must feel. I'm really hoping that the politics aren't so bad that CHR won't play him no matter how good the material is he puts out. Imo BTIKM is a good song and if given half a chance on CHR it would do well, but pop radio just isn't biting. I'm thinking if he has more songs like Cuckoo up his sleeve they won't be able to deny him.

yup he's been hitting CHR stations in every city... denver, dallas, houston, atlanta, nashville. he'll be going to one in boston. and of course he did z100 in nyc earlier. he's working his ass off! go boy! get that promo!

can't believe all this promo won't help him with the next single ...especially since Adam said it is an up-tempo dance track.......actually I'm thinking that all this promo with the CHR stations is really for the next single.....he is getting his name out there again....smooozing with these DJ's....planting those seeds for # 2 single track.....good PR.....and BTIKM gets some push along the way......

Sticking my head to say sorry for not really being here this week (ugh, midterms) and that I'm going to be off the map for most of this week because I'm travelling. So if someone else wants to bring over updates in my absence, be my guest.

ETA: One more thing. Whatever the HAC update looks like today, it's not going to be great since we lost an hour last night due to daylight savings. Which means a whole hour of music missing from every station at a time of day when a lot of spins happen (in general, not just for BTIKM). So all the updates are going to be wonky today.
