No.. I don't want to be the only one to post obscure tracks that nobody listens to anymore! grin.gif

This song could have been written for Haley .. made me think of where she's at releasing her first music and all - and the lives and souls she's touched on the way .. heart.gif

No way! I love this song. I have this album on Vinyl. My Dad gave me his record collection a while back (hence the Pat Benatar and Donovan haha.gif ) and this was one of them w00t.gif ! I actually didn’t think anyone else even knew this song existed shocked.gif . Was it popular? I wouldn’t know haha.gif . But yeah, I love this song! wub.gif

I cant attest to its overall popularity but JJ Cale was well known when I was a student as he has a very mellow sound that goes well with certain herbal remedies original.gif

I've been listening to Neutral Milk Hotel non-stop. Stoked to see Jeff Mangum in concert for the first time in January. Thought I'd never get the chance to see him live:

What a beautiful face
I have found in this place
That is circling all round the sun
What a beautiful dream
That could flash on the screen
In a blink of an eye and be gone from me
Soft and sweet
Let me hold it close and keep it here with me

Yeah, Elliott Smith is amazing. wub.gif But, yeah, his death was tragic. sad.gif

Honestly, I’d never heard of Nick Drake before shocked.gif . I’ve listened to “Northern Sky” 3 times now though and I now love that song. Thanks for posting it. wub.gif

Np. I hadn't found out about him until everyone kept comparing Elliott to him haha.gif.

I'm slightly addicted to Aloe Blacc and Van Hunt. Just thought I should mention.

Can't think of many people who can take a great song like this and make it their own and even better than the original.

Polar opposites. Both very nice.

Its getting slow so it may be a good time to revive this thread to fill the gap ... Had Pandora going on my HT, had the base way cranked, up and this song came up. I cant not believe this has been out since 1988 and I never heard it! ...Talk about your funk soul pop!! ... Oh I got in a little trouble for waking the house but I got twenty years of listening to make up...

Sorry I missed her tour this year ...

Was just watching a UK show "England '88" and this song on the soundtrack which got me googling to find out what it was. Great song - never heard of Wendy Rene before.... but thought I would share as 60's soul now has a mutual relevance here! original.gif

I just wanted to share some of my all time favorites, that never leaves my playlist and probably never will. The videos is the first tune and a taste of three of the most exceptional albums of all time. The first two is Bossa Nova/Jazz masterpieces and the third is the first part of an improvisation piano solo concert that is out of this world good.

Wave by Antonio Carlos Jobim from the album Wave

The Girl from Ipanema by Astrud Gilberto, João Gilberto and Stan Getz from the album Getz/Gilberto

The Köln Concert Part 1 by Keith Jarrett from the album The Köln Concert (Live)

I've been listening to this early version of Wild Heart lately. Clip is apparently from a 1981 Rolling Stone photo shoot. But I must admit it reminds me of Haley's comment that she'd like to play Stevie Nicks. As a scene this would come naturally to her.

Also some from Jewel's old Christmas video...

Zem, enjoy Keith Jarrett. Another of my favorite solo pianists is George Winston.

Stevie Nicks is one of my all time favorite female vocalists. Something about her voice touches my soul. I think I have recently said the same thing about Haley. Go figure.

Good stuff liked the Jobim piece ...

My jazz taste stays a little more to the smooth stuff .... CD109 was a great NY station ....

and who could not love this (come on peanuts fans!)???

Also love the title track from the Ripingtons ... my first Jazz cd ...
