The Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be the 57th annual Eurovision Song Contest. It will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, following Azerbaijan's win in the 2011 Contest with Ell & Nikki's song "Running Scared". The two semi-finals will be held on 22 May and 24 May 2012, with the final on 26 May 2012, in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan occupies a time zone three hours ahead of Central Europe. Traditionally, the ESC-finals will begin at 21.00 clock (EST). And this is not for television viewers in Europe in 2012 to change anything. "The shows have always been produced for this date. There are no plans to change that," said Jarmo Siim, spokesman for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). For the artists in Baku, but it is very late. Points are awarded and the decision will then take place between 2.00 und 3.00 clock clock in the morning.


Venue
On 16 May 2011, it was announced that a special concert complex with 23,000 seats for the 2012 Contest is to be built near National Flag Square in Baku. However on 19 May 2011, organisers announced that they may use the Tofiq Bahramov Stadium which contains 37,000 seats, or the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Exhibition Complex. On 4 August 2011, it was confirmed that the laying of foundations for the Baku Crystal Hall has started near the National Flag Square. Tofiq Bahramov Stadium, which is currently under repairs to host the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in September-October 2012, will be used as a back-up option.

On 8 September 2011, Azad TV International of Azerbaijan reported that Baku Crystal Hall will be the venue of Eurovision Song Contest 2012, although no formal confirmation by the organisers of the Eurovision Song Contest, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), has yet been made to clarify this statement.

Event concept and ticket sale
On 10 August 2011, Gudrat Aliyev, coordinator at CAT Brain Entertainment, stated tickets for the event were likely to go on sale in November 2011.

Role of the national host broadcaster
İctimai Television, which is the EBU member that broadcasts the Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan, is one of country's public-service broadcasters. Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology of Azerbaijan, Iltimas Mammadov, stated that telecom networks are ready to host this event. Azerbaijan's largest telecommunications operator, Azercell, has been chosen as the presenting partner for the contest.

Format
In a meeting of the Eurovision Reference Group on 29 June 2011, it was decided that the televoting system would revert back to the format used before the 2010 Contest in which the phone and SMS lines will open after all songs have been performed instead of opening before the show starts. The results format of each show will remain the same with each country's votes being decided on a 50:50 split between televoting and a national jury.

The Shows
Since 2008, the Eurovision Song Contest consists of three live shows, aired prime-time to millions of homes across Europe. During two Semi-Finals, viewers and juries across Europe determine which countries will be represented in the Final.

First Semi-Final
Tuesday, 22th of May, 2012 (21:00 CET)

The first Semi-Final will be broadcast live in some 20 countries represented in the show and several other nations. You can also watch it online here on Eurovision.tv!

Artists from some 20 countries will compete in the first Semi-Final, as ten spots for the Final are at stake. Viewers and professional juries each have a 50 percent stake in the outcome. The professional juries will feature six members in each country. The televoting window will be opened after all the songs have been performed.

The 10 qualified acts will be announced in random order, and to raise the excitement the ranking and other voting results will not be announced until right after the Final.

The Grand Final
Saturday, 26th of May, 2012 (21:00 CET)

The Grand Final will be broadcast live in all participating countries. You can also watch the Grand Final online here on Eurovision.tv!

Viewers and professional juries in some 40 participating countries will vote.

Viewers and professional juries each have a 50 percent stake in the outcome. The professional juries will feature six members in each country. The televoting window will be opened after all the songs have been performed.

The running order of the represented countries in the FInal will be determined by draw, right after each of the two Semi-Finals.

Six countries have already qualified for the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest, being United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the Host Country Azerbaijan. As a total of 26 countries will take part in the Final on the 26th of May, then 10 from each Semi-Final will qualify for it. They are obliged to broadcast and vote in (as drawn):

Unsuccessful attempts to participate
Armenia – On 7 March 2012, the EBU announced that Armenian Public Television (ARMTV) had decided to withdraw from participation. This was due to circumstances beyond the control of the EBU. In a further statement released by ARMTV, it was announced that the sudden withdrawal was due to security issues. The two countries have been in conflict since 1994 because of the Nagorno-Karabakh War.

Andorra – On 19 October 2011, Andorra announced that there are no plans for the country to participate in 2012 due to financial difficulties; the country also has plans to withdraw from the EBU entirely.

Czech Republic – On 24 November 2011, it was reported that the Czech Republic would not compete in the 2012 Contest, following the release of a television schedule by Česká televize (ČT).

Liechtenstein – On 26 November 2011, it was announced that two official EBU documents, published in March and October 2011, where showing Liechtenstein's only national broadcaster 1FLTV as being granted active EBU membership, sparking speculations of a debut for the nation. However, on 29 November 2011, these documents where later confirmed as an editing mistakes, and thus a debut has yet to be made.

Monaco – It was reported on 23 November 2011, at a European Broadcasting Union (EBU) meeting in Geneva, that Monaco were considering a return to the 2012 contest. However on 3 December 2011, Phil Bosco, a former head of delegation told a French-speaking website that the Monegasque national broadcaster Télé Monte Carlo (TMC) doesn't intend to return to the Eurovision Song Contest any time in the near future, as there is no financial budget available.

Morocco – In an interview with the French delegation it was revealed that Morocco were "likely to return" to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 with a new broadcaster 2M TV. Reports about the proposed return of Morocco to the contest, after an absence of 30 years, were further enhanced at an EBU meeting in Geneva.

Poland – On 16 December 2011, it was reported on the official Facebook page of Telewizja Polska (TVP) that Poland would be withdrawing from the 2012 Contest. This was confirmed a few days later, saying that the broadcaster would be focusing on the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship (which Poland is co-hosting with Ukraine) and Summer Olympics. TVP stated that a return in 2013 has not been ruled out. However since early January 2012, the EBU are in negotiations with Polish national broadcaster TVP to reconsider their plans to withdraw from the contest by offering assistance with the broadcasting of other events and lower participation fees, which could still result in Poland participating.

In the series of Misija Evrovizija shows, the artist who is going to represent Slovenia in Europe's Favourite TV Show in Azerbaijan in 2012 will be selected. A total of 32 artists have made it to the initial round of shows.

Maja returns
During these live audition shows, the lucky 32 will perform in front of a panel of judges. The winner will be selected through a combination of televoting and the jury panel. The show will be hosted by Klemen Slakonja, who was Slovenia's spokesperson in 2011, and Maja Keuc who sang for Slovenia in the 2011 contest.

The jury will comprise of:-

*Darja Svajger - Slovenian representative in 1995 and 1999 Eurovision Song Contest
Raay - Composer and producer of the 2011 Slovenian national runner up Ladadidej
*Tina Marinsek - Singer from the band Tabu who were third in 2011 national selection
*Jonas Znidarsic - Actor and television presenter in Slovenia

During Sunday's first show, the special guests will be the Danish band A Friend In London, who will perform their 2011 Eurovision Song Contest entry New Tomorrow and their new single Calling A Friend.

Song selection in early 2012
Following the Misija Evrovizija shows, after the selection of the successful artist, in 2012 the national selection show EMA 2012 will take place and it is then that the Slovenian entry itself will be chosen

Co-host of Misija Evrovizija, Maja Keuc represented Slovenia in Europe's Favourite TV Show in 2011 with the song No One, finishing in 13th place, Slovenia's best result since Sestre also finished 13th in 2002 in Tallinn.

AZERBAIJAN SINGER STABBED BROTHER OF HIS COMPANION



Famous singer Samir Javadzade arrested in Azerbaijan. He is blamed in stabbing his companion's brother with a knife.

Alvin Huseynov who is injured is the brother of Elnur Huseynov. The latter was presented for Eurovision in Azerbaija.

The criminal is at the police now and Huseynov is at the hospital, his condition is stable, newsru.com stated.

Four grants washed in Web Joker

Four grants in Web Joker 2012 disqualified. Three alternates will be now in the competition.

The music that will compete in the Web Joker, Melodifestivalen and Eurovision Song Contest may not have been available before. Due to publishing on the Internet and in one case, public performance has four of the 32 contributions of Web Joker disqualified.

The grants, which are underlined:

Melodifestivalen editorial staff always checks the contestants according to their capacities. Meanwhile, it partially relies on the assurance that participants comply with rules and instructions.

SVT also discussed where the line drawn on when a songwriter is known as a professional. Songwriter who is so far amateurs competing in the Web Joker, while the professionals will send their contributions to the regular contest. Since we already have a comprehensive regulatory framework, we have chosen not to add extensive amounts of text that defines our vision of being "non-established" but we have instead chosen to keep the description as short as possible.

May sell itself
Thomas Hall said that the contest rules are intended to refer to the right songwriter contest, where the main question is if the songwriters had works commercially released for sale, physically or digitally.

- With commercially released, we believe that we have not had a contract / agreement with, for example, record companies, publishers or other party that aims to commercialize the work. However, we believe that the composers themselves should be able to publish / sell their music on various sites such as iTunes, the actual selling self-produced CDs at festivals, etc. and still be considered unestablished.

16-year limit
SVT also has transparent issue of singers ages. The Eurovision Song Contest may only artists who turn 16 before the Eurovision Song Contest that year to compete. Yet it is not removed from the singers of the contributions sent in for selection for the Eurovision Song Contest - as is the case with Web Joker, where there are people who are the jury.

Minors artists however, will not make contributions in Melodifestivalen 2012, and since there are songwriters, not performers who will compete in the Web Joker is not necessarily the artists of the Web as the Joker in front of the songwriters grant if it would win.

Switzerland

Changes in 2012 Selection
On 22 July 2011, SF announced that 14 entries will join the national final from the Bodensee Arena in Kreuzlingen. Two more than last year.

Six songs will come from an internet voting of German-language SF, three from DRS3 Radio, three from French-language broadcaster RTS, and two from Italian-language RSI. In an unusual twist, the participants will sing two minute abridged versions of their songs, despite the competition rules set out by SF that songs must be between 2:55-3:00 minutes in length.

The overall SF selection selects six finalists. Candidates could submit entries to the broadcaster from 1–30 September 2011. A 50/50 mix of internet voting and the verdict of an expert jury will decide on the finalists.

The overall SF selection selects three finalists. Entries can be submitted until 30 September 2011, then a jury will narrow down the number of entries to ten. Those ten entries will be played on the radio and TV channels of RTS between 20-30 October 2011. The three finalists will be selected by a 50/50 combination of public and jury voting.

Late Night Show with the North German comedian, singer and presenter Ina Müller and after meunière: talk, comedy and much, much music. Ina Mueller welcomed in the Hamburg harbor bar "For haddock items" today First EuroVision Song Contest winner Lena. After Lena opened the presenter in the art of Britney Spears dance choreography has discovered that both an unexpected passion in common: horror movies! For technical discussions about comforting shudder come the TV presenters Joko and Klaas. They talk about their best community service experiences to face tough tests of courage and discuss whether cats with funny glasses are. Musical Guest is now the German rap musician Casper, who - after having recently finished No. 1 on the album charts - with completed "Inas Nacht" his first major TV appearance. This turbulent broadcast sounds befitting of the Austrian musicians of "Holstuonarmusigbigbandclub" short "HMBC", showcasing their brilliant mix of folk, jazz and reggae. As the 20 men from the sway Wilhelmsburger shanty choir "Tampentrekker" waiting as always with wind and weather outside the open windows of the "haddock income" on their bets. 14 people deny the audience - no longer fit for purely "Ina's Night", but are allowed to help with the beer-cap issues a bit. And all are well looked back from the pub landlady Frau Müller - and not related by marriage with Ina. Sounds slightly chaotic? Should it too!

New grants exchanged in the Web Joker

grant No. Games that would have competed in the third round of the 2012 Web Joker disqualified. The reason is that the author is already registered for the commercially released music. Substitutions will grant I come out, written by Stefan Krakowski.

No games will be performed by Chris Mhina and is written by Leslie Tay. It would have been competing with start number 8 in race 3, which is published on svt.se / Eurovision Song Contest on Monday. The replacement allowance I get out of Stefan Krakowski performed by the group San Francisco.

Web Joker is a competition for amateurs who have not had music issued as a songwriter by publishers. The people behind the grant No Games announced early and on their own initiative SVT that Leslie Tay is active and has had success as a producer and also has had a self-composed song in rotation on radio, but that he has not released his own music. Therefore he was allowed to compete in the Web Joker

Registered as a songwriter
In SVT's control of STIM-archives of the week, it appeared that Tay is registered as a songwriter of numerous works. Having the music registered with STIM is no barrier to participation in the Web Joker. But the songs of STIM are several works that were released commercially.

The explanation which SVT has received for this is that Leslie Tay was the producer for the songs but for practical reasons, was registered as a songwriter. The organizers are, however, data from STIM.

- This is an author's race, so producer knowledge and artistry does not matter, said Thomas Hall, project manager for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012th

- But as the race manager, I have no choice but to wash No Games. The grant can not formally compete in the Web without the Joker should have been submitted to the regular contest.

Several washes
No Games is the fifth contribution of the 32 contestants in Web Joker 2012 as disqualified. The song was in turn last week on short notice aside as a reserve among the original 570 entries submitted in four previous grants were deleted because they had been available on the Internet.

I am kind of surprised that one of the songs Switzerland is voting on right now is sung by Katherine St-Laurent, who was on Canadian Idol. I thought maybe you had to come from Switzerland but she's from Quebec. It was nice to see her again though.
