Idol Sweden 2011, Season 8 Options

First of all, this was such an underwhelming night. The song choices were too corny and odd for my taste.

Robin sounded pretty powerful as usual. Molly hit some serious huge notes! Holy shhhh, the girl got enormous range.

Amanda F went crazy in the end, lol, and she was decent, not her best though.

Moa, Andre and Amanda P were horrible, seriously wrong songs for them.

I just saw Amanda Fondell perfomance, and again she made her own with a pretty know song this time and was really good. I just found the end a little bit unnecessary and overdramatic. Also, would be nice to see a softer side from her in the next couple weeks.

Overall really good choices, some potential great ones, specially from Molly and Robin. A little worried with Amanda P., she can sing this songs but I´m not sure if this songs will allow her to stand out on her own.

EDIT: Ok, now that I watched the full show, here is my review:

First Round:

Robin- I was expecting this song to bring something extra of him, but damm, even with Bohemian Rhapsody he maneged to give a boring perfomance ; Good vocals, but this was a safe rendition.

Amanda F- This song was too big for her, so even she trying to put herself on it she couldn´t hide her limitations on this one. Amanda is good in own the songs she sings, this is not the case.

Molly- Big song, sang great by Jessie J but Molly did a great job with it. She took a big risk as the other two, but it paid off to her.

Amanda P- Again, too big song for her. Pretty bad vocals. I wasn´t expecting this song to do alot for her, but this was worst that I expected.

Moa- One word: Karaoke. Again, she´s is very luck to have all the support she haves, because so far I only saw two really good perfomances from her in the middle of mediocre ones.

Second Round:]

Robin- I think that I´m figuring out what is the problem with Robin: the vocals come so easy for him, that he just don´t give the enough intensity the songs need. This is better than his first one, but still not as great as it could and should be.

Amanda F -Amanda kinda returned with this one, good song for her, good job.But in order to move on to the finale, she will need to do more now than just keep perform the same kind of song and fell on the floor to add some drama. I said it last week and say it again: she needs to show her sensitive side now, otherwise she will not make it until the end.

Molly- WOW. Another big risk from her, and despiste this have pushed her limits in some parts, damm, she nailed it overall. The most special about this perfomance is that she still maneged to put herself on the song. Stand O!

Amanda P- This was a better choice for her (vocally speaking), but again, didn´t gave her a chance to stand out on her own and she really needed it. Was just ok.

Moa- I said only two really good perfomances from her in the competition? Ok, I take it back, now are three! This is where she shines, she just need to do this more often.

I felt a little bit underwhelming this week for no single amazing performance, even though there were some pretty good ones.

The remaining four should bring their best ever performances next week or get eliminated miserably.

Srsly it's extremely hard to tell who will go home next.



1. Amanda Fondell 1, much better than Rachel Crow's Disney version, but not as exciting as Adam's wild wailing version.

Just watched the show live for the first time *thanks mds* and here my first thoughts:

Molly 1:

Only saw the second half of the performance. Seems pretty strong, just not sure if this is the type of song that shows best Molly´s talent.. The judges didn´t love it...

Moa 1:

Good song for her, pretty good job, the only problem that I have with this and most of her perfomances is that it is too much plain. She tried the falsetto a couple times but didn´t hit it.

Amanda F 1:

Amanda is back. Great song choice for her, good to see she doing a mid-tempo song, and she nailed it. Crazy Haiiir!!!!!

Robin 1:

He´s really trying to stand out with this and he did, just not totally sure if it is in a good way. What the hell is this jackett? Anyway, he had some great moments on this and some akward ones. Judges are splitted.

Molly 2:

Good song for her, the only problem is that this song had been done so much in the past that is hard to stand out on this. Wish she had done something different. Good job overall, she put herself on the end, but I´m really worried for her tonight *_*

Moa 2:

Another good/decent job from her... She really shines in the simple parts, not so much in the other ones..

Amanda F. 2:

I said last week that she needed to do a simple/vulneable song and thats what she did here. Really nice and unique. Amanda is really back, I hope that the public gets it.

Robin 2:

And again Robins returns to his good vocals/boring performance. I just don´t get if he is a pop, a rock, a crooner singer... Didn´t see he tottally owning neither of this styles, despiste he deliveres good vocal performances. He´s probably a pop/rock singer, I just don´t wanna him to win this or neither being in the finalle, he is too much of the same.

Waiting for the results and really worried for Molly... Just hopping for Moa or Robin to go!

PS: I´m just laughing with the comments on the idol website, people saying that Chris Medina (the guest performer of the night @_@) was the worst of the night and should be the eliminated one.

PS2: Oh well, Molly is gone... Just wanted a finale between her and Amanda. I´m just worried that the finale will end up being between Robin and Moa

Lol at Robin's jacket with wings. 1st was so boring in the middle, 2nd had no emotion but vocally decent.

Molly sounded steady in both songs, she tried to put in her own vibe, still not phenomenal though.

Moa's second song was much much better than her first which was 100% unlistenable.

Fondell was special, reallly special, I loved her both renditions.

Oh, here comes the most hated hollywood contestant in AI history, Chris Medina. Beautiful song, subpar vocals.

And about this week, I only saw Amanda´s perfomances so far, loved the first one, perfect for her. The second one was more to show how commercial she can be. Glad she made it to the finals, now Its time to take the title next week.

Amanda was great on first song, but not so much on second.

Robin was powerfully solid on both of his performances.

Moa sounded like a huge disaster. I'm glad she didn't enter the final.

Really good job in both singles. They really worked to make it fits them both. And looks that Robin wants to go with the Pop/dance style, with I´m not sure if he nails this style performing on the stage, despiste the great vocals.
And Amanda, if she wins, she will be the most refreshing winner that we have on Idol (not only sweden, around the word) in the latest years, not only for being a GIRL, but for being so unique and cool.

Amanda's winner's single is amazing

I still hate that they make both of them sing the same song but at least it fits both of them. I'm worried Robin may win this If he wins, it'll be the worst final for this amazing season

Just watching the finale live:

First Round (missed Robin´s perfomance)..

Amanda- I wouldn´t pick this song in particular for her or anybody else to cover, but still, se managed to made it work. Really good performance to start her night.

Second Round (encore song):

Robin- Hallo: For sure, his best one so smart choice. He´s singing it great overall, but damm, here is the emotional connection with the song? I said it before and I say again, the vocals come so easy for him, that he just don´t putt enough intensity on his interpretations.

Amanda-Made Of: THis wasn´t my favorite from her, but she selled it even better this time, that I just enjoyed it. and its sure shows how commercial she can be.

Third Round - Winner Singles:

Robin- When I heard it on the studio, I found it pretty good, but I knew that Robin would have a hard time to sell it live, and thats what happened.. So boring performance, and the vocals didn´t came as great this time...

Amanda- Again, she just turned this generic song into her own, shes the fullpackage one for sure.

Waiting for the results, just seeing alot support to Amanda, hope its translates into votes!

Amanda won!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I can rest in peace (serious, I would give up on idol if Robin had won this).

I loved watching Amanda singing Blur, really different from everything she's done.

Robin was just nothing special. But he's got a big voice.

I was so glad that Amanda won, she deserved the most.

I have to say, Robin was the most gracious loser I've seen on just about any of these types of shows.
