Amazing Race 19 Features Survivor Champs Ethan and Jenna, Vegas Showgirls, New Twist

CBS’ The Amazing Race — winner of countless Emmy Awards for best competitive reality series — will celebrate its 10th anniversary this fall with a cast that features Survivor winners Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca, a former NFL player, a team of Las Vegas showgirls, the youngest person to ever sail around the world alone, and a pair of Olympic snowboarders.

Apparently, they're gonna be traveling to Denmark, Belgium, and Indonesia this season. ABOUT FLIPPIN' TIME. That should've happened last season in place of the five China/India legs.

Also apparently there's a double elimination. And another new starting line penalty, huh? I wish they wouldn't do those, they're pointless imo. Oh well, hopefully this one won't be as dumb as the automatic U-Turn.

Early rankings and comments:

1. Kaylani and Lisa - The ~underdogs~ of leg one. Hazard penalty to lost passport to being saved by Twitter of all damn things to entering a short alliance that probably did them more harm than good to making the rest of the leg their bitch. Roadblock-on racing, they could possibly be a threat. Without a doubt had the most story of the first leg. Probably my favorite atm.

2. Ernie and Cindy - Strong first leg. Good for them.

3. Justin and Jennifer - Somewhat dysfunctional = somewhat entertaining. But still meh.

4. Ron and Bill - Nothing much from them. They're this high because they remind me of Team Guido. They should be the awesome villains of this season.

5. Laurence and Zac - Even less from them.

6. Ethan and Jenna - Surivor couple. They were boring.

7. Andy and Tony - It's like Hippie Tyler has returned with a normal guy as his team mate. Huh.

8. Bill and Cathi - Sweet, but terrible racers. Stroke of luck with the non-elimination, so maybe there's still hope for them being the next Meredith & Gretchen/Fran & Barry. I'm not holding my breath though, I see them gone by leg 4.

9. Amani and Marcus - Marcus is giving off dickish vibes. Reminds me of Big Easy, actually, just not as likable.

10. Jeremy and Sandy - Because I can't remember them. Like...at all. The girl is a blonde, I think?

11. Liz and Marie - Right now, they're seeming like a mix between Kami & Karli and Katie & Rachel. Not necessarily the two most ideal all-female teams to emulate. If they keep that up, they can go bye-bye at any time.

Not impressed by either of the new twists. The Hazard was pointless and that task would've worked better if all the teams had done it. And the double elimination also seems pointless, because it immediately follows a non-elimination leg. They could've just canned gramps right now, and the other team next leg and nothing else would've changed. Not to mention the fact that this leg was a non-elimination made the Hazard even more pointless. Meh.

The episode itself was good. Not as great as TAR17's premiere, but definitely better than last season's. Seems like we have a great mix of teams as well--I don't necessarily dislike anyone right now, besides maybe the twins.

1. Ernie & Cindy/Kaylani & Lisa - Not sure which team I like more, but they're my 2 favourites.

3. Liz & Marie - I like them.



4. Jeremy & Sandy - They're OK, but still need to see more.

5. Ethan & Jenna, they're OK, but they're already rich so I don't really want them to win.

6. Laurence & Zac - Meh, they were shown too much in the previews so I don't want them to win either.

7. Amani & Marcus - Meh

8. Bill & Cathi - Meh

9. Justin & Jennifer - Only because I can't remember them, I think I thought they were Amani & Marcus everytime they were shown, since I don't remember this team at all

10. Andy & Tommy - Meh, they remind me of Nathan & Tyler from TAR Australia.

11. Ron & Bill - Remind me of the Guidos, which I dislike.

I don't really have a good or bad opinion on anyone yet. I do love Jenna and Ethan though from Survivor so I hope they do well (not winning though). I agree with kamil about Ron and Bill how they seem like Team Guido and I hate them. So yeah no real opinions yet

Interesting mix of people. So far, fewer annoying ones, though there's plenty of time to make that up. Kind of odd that two winners of Survivor would bother. Their cover didn't last long.

Felt sorry for the monk having to stand there while a endless stream of people mangled Confucius. He looked a little worried too.

Don't like fibbing football guy, or the blonde twins. Kind of liked the snowboarders. Was impressed you can bungee jump at the mall. There wasn't a shortage of people to translate the phrase from the billboard into English either.

The non-elimination was pretty lame. Bill and Cathi seem pretty useless and should've left. I have no favs or hates yet.

Can't rank them yet, haven't seen enough but here's my thoughts on everyone:

Ernie & Cindy - I really liked them. Strong team!

Kaylani & Lisa - I didn't like them at first at all. But they did so well in this leg, I changed my opinion on them.

Liz & Marie - They're okay. I want to see more of them. I think they will do well when they have to work together, but struggle in road blocks.

Jeremy & Sandy - Haven't seen enought of them yet, but I seem to like them.

Ethan & Jenna - I like them too!

Laurence & Zac - They're okay. No opinion on them yet.

Amani & Marcus - Don't really like them, but don't hate them either.

Bill & Cathi - I love them. They had some trouble but they seem really smart. I'm hoping they do a lot better in the next leg.

Justin & Jennifer - I dislike the guy a lot.

Andy & Tommy - They're okay. No real opinion yet.

Ron & Bill - Early team that I hate! They suck too!


I like a lot of teams! I feel that it will be a great season!
