Alright, I'm doing it. No one's written a fiction here in a loong time so I thought I'd keep up with an old Juniors fic I started forever ago. I have no idea where it's going and I only have a few chapters written, but if you guys like it then I'll keep going! Maybe...if I have time. Real encouraging, I know.

Tori
It’s the same feeling I got after riding the fiercest rollercoaster seventeen times in a row with my older sister, Taylor. My clammy hands shake, my stomach is doing summersaults and I feel like I’m going to faint. But this feeling is so much worse because it can’t be cleared with some peptomismal and a nap. This feeling can only be fixed by this horrible, gut-wrenching day to be over. And unfortunately for me, it is just beginning.

“Mom,” Taylor whines, leaning over the kitchen counter as she gives our mom the biggest puppy-dog eyes ever. “Can I drive to school? Pleeeeease?”

I roll my eyes and take a seat at the kitchen table. Taylor’s been begging my parents to let her drive since she got her driving permit six months ago when she turned fifteen. They do let her every once in a while, and when they do, I do my best to make sure I’m never in the car. Unless I’m wearing a football helmet, which I really should invest in.

“I don’t know, Tay,” my mom says warily. “School’s a little far. Why don’t we wait until you have a little more practice?”

Taylor sticks her bottom lip out. “But Mom,” Taylor complains, still in the same high pitched annoying voice. “Everyone drives to school! And everyone lives closer than we do!”

“Everyone?” My mom asks with that Mom-like tone of voice that she uses when she thinks she knows everything. “You mean all your friends who are older than you and have driver’s licenses? Those everyones?”

Taylor growls and storms upstairs, abandoning her half-eaten waffle. I pick at my waffle, which out of I’ve only taken two bites.

“How you doin, Tor?” My mom asks me, sitting down next to me at the table.

I stare at my waffle, uninterested in it. “Fine,” I reply quietly, wondering if my mom’s asking because usually during breakfast, I inhale everything I see.

“First day of high school,” she reminds me and I hold back the urge to hurl. “Are you nervous?”

“No,” I whisper and I know she knows I’m lying. “I’m just not hungry.”

“Honey, it’s okay to be nervous,” she tells me gently and I look up at her. “Remember Taylor’s first day last year? She was a wreck.”

I laugh a little, remembering that day very well. “Yeah,” I agree. “She tried on like fifty different outfits and she cried on the way to school.”

“See?” My mom says, tucking a stray piece of hair behind my ear. “Nothing can be worse than that.”

“You’re right,” I say softly, reminding myself to remember that story to get me through this awful day.

Taylor
My closet is wide open and I have every choice in the world. But nothing looks good enough for me to make an appearance in for my first day of sophomore year. I already know it’s going to be a good year. I’m not a lowly freshman anymore and this year I can torment Tori because she is one.

I already know that Danielle and I have two classes together and Jordan and I have three, plus lunch. Chauncey has lunch with us, too, but no classes with me. He’s too smart. I’m not sure about my older friends’ lunch period because they’re not sophomore. Freshman and sophomores are the only grades that get their schedules before the first day of school, so we have time to figure out where our classes are and get the hang of it so we don’t freak out or something for the first day. But seeing my first day last year was hell, nothing could be worse than that.

I give up on trying to find the perfect outfit and settle for my best pair of jeans and a white tank top with rhinestones on it. It’s been a while since I’ve worn this outfit and I need to fit it into the rotation again.

Once my hair and makeup are done, I look at the clock and realize I still have a few minutes. Sighing to myself, I flop on my bed and grab my cell phone from my nightstand. Mental note: don’t forget cell phone today.

“Is it okay to wear hair gel now or is it still considered gay?” AJ answers the phone and I laugh.

“It’s okay,” I assure him with a smile and stare at my ceiling. “Ready for the first day or school?”

“Hell yes,” AJ says confidently and I can hear him messing around with something, probably in the bathroom due to the echo. Fixing his perfect hair, I figure. “I’m a junior this year! I’m pumped. No more the bottom half of the food chain.”

I laugh again, wishing I could smack him because he knew I was still on the bottom half. “Hey, I’m close.”

“How’s your sister doing?”

I roll my eyes and pretend to gag. “She’s freakin’. I think she’s gonna vomit.”

Now, it’s AJ’s turn to laugh. “Hey, have some sympathy. You were worse last year.”

I groan. “Don’t remind me.” I can hear my mom yelling my name and I know it’s time to go. “Ugh, I think you need to take a special trip and come pick me up. I hate riding with my mother.”

“You’ll be fine,” AJ tells me with ease. “See you at school, Thompson.”

I groan once more. School. Great.

AJ
The drive to school is a short one, unfortunately. I only get to listen to three songs on the wicked awesome new CD I burned just for this day and I’m already at school. Bummer.

I park in my usual area: the lot right next to the football field. It normally doesn’t sound like a special parking space, but sometimes the cheerleaders practice before school and I spend a few minutes staring before I go inside.

Sadly, the cheerleaders aren’t out today so I have to go straight inside. My locker is in its usual spot where I left it three months ago and I open it, remembering the combination I used five times a day for the past two years. How can I forget it?

I brush my curly brown hair away from my face as I look in the tiny mirror hanging on the door of my locker. I silently thank Taylor for telling me hair gel is okay now, because my hair is setting very nicely today.

“Queer.”

I turn around to find myself facing a guy my age who’s a few inches taller than me. “Freak,” I spit out and slap him playfully on the shoulder. “What’s up, man?”

“Ah, not much,” Morgan replies, opening his own locker that’s conveniently located right next to mine. “Dreading this. You?”

“Same,” I mumble and throw my empty backpack in my locker that only contains my mirror, a few scattered pens and some trash. Just the way I left it last year. “Where’s Chantel?” I ask, speaking of Morgan’s girlfriend of over a year, now.

“With the other girls,” Morgan moans and I join him.

We both know that once they show up, they’ll be all giggly and loud, much like they always are when they’re together. Especially today, the first day of their senior year. That’s right. Morgan has an older woman on his arm. He’s kind of a stud.

No sooner than five seconds after our moaning fit, three beautiful, but very different looking girls walk up to us. Even though we are a year younger than all of them, we’re lucky enough to at least be taller than the three of them.

Chantel Kohl walks up to Morgan and gives him a long kiss on the lips. The rest of us shield our eyes. Chantel is the tallest of all three girls. She has pale blue eyes and thick brown hair. She is definitely the boldest and loudest of the three older girls. Katelyn Tarver is next in height and has long blonde shiny hair. She has the prettiest smile. Lucy Hale is the oldest but shortest girl. She has thin dark brown hair, dark chocolate eyes and she giggles a lot. They’re all different but all still really cool. They have to be; they’re friends with me, aren’t they?
