This year’s North Dakota Winter Show will offer the staple attractions of the past, plus a burst of fresh events seeking to entertain families and individuals of all ages.
The annual event returns to Valley City on Monday, when preliminary activities begin. The show officially runs March 1-6. Now in its 74th year, the show continues to be the oldest and longest-running agriculture show in North Dakota. Aside from the traditional crop show and livestock show, the 2011 winter show will present an array of new attractions, said Nancy Allen, the show’s manager. For example, Northern Outlaw Wrestling will be featured Wednesday, and a new rodeo contractor will cap off the week with shows on March 5-6. The winter show typically offers a variety of musical performances, a tradition that will continue this year. Friday night’s featured concert performer will be Sawyer Brown, with guest Bucky Covington of “American Idol” fame. Throughout the week, attendees of the winter show can view the farm equipment on display, visit with vendors and attend multiple seminars on issues facing the agriculture industry. -------------------- |
