Wow, Houston has a thing for Casey James! I've been thinking about how well the single is doing in this particular market since I grew-up less than 30mi from there and lived in Houston for almost 10yrs.

For Texas, Houston's a real melting-pot of a city and market and I think that's why LDCIAN is doing so well there. The 4th most populous city in the nation, it's historically one of the most culturally diverse and rich breeding grounds for new music in Texas, with it's long-standing ties to Western culture - working class heroes who started out with deep roots in farming and ranching but went on to make their livings in oil and gas. Proximity to South Louisiana and Mexico provide another dimension to a more diverse radio market there. But it also has a distinct urban sensibility and has fostered the development of many a great R&B and Soul artist and Southern Rock bands, a la ZZ Top. Enter one Casey James, with his unique blend of urban-tinged everyman rocker, County twang, and blue-eyed soul and you have your answer - LDCIAN fits the Houston market to a T.

Hopefully this is a microcosm of the potential impact of Casey James, the album, on the national market in less than a month.

They really do love Casey in Houston. All idol contestants has the advantage of having very pro-active fans. So the fans of idols are always requesting songs and on. This radio station, KILT, has a countdown every day, and Casey has been no. 1 for weeks now.

The countdown is based on sms, votes, or call-ins and downloads. Unlike internet polls like for example on CMT, where people can vote as much as they want to, so you dont really need a massive fanbase to come out on top you just need dedicated fans with internet polls. But unlike this system, KILT'S way way of using text messages, phone calls and downloads means that they will not have just the die hart fans voting.
And Casey has been no. 1 for weeks now, so obviously the casual fans in Houston are really liking the song.
