The sound mix did her no favors. She sounded great. Orianthi sounded great. The dancers were distracting, the bass was turned down too low, and her mic was down too low as well. I her, but she needs to learn to open he eyes when she sings on tv. It looks better on camera.

It was so funny watching her because my parents kept having a discussion about her race and comparing her to Ori lol. It was so weird and random

Mom: she looks black here, i thought she was white.
Dad: nah that other girl is white(orianthi), look at her.
Mom: i always though Allison was white but here she looks black or spanish.

For people who have kept up with her and see her live vids often, yea, she might have sounded off. I haven't seen one of her live vids, esp. of this song, in a while so to me, she sounded great. I liked the changes she did here and there, but yea, the last note was really off. For people who haven't seen her live at all, it could go both ways. They also needed to higher the volume of Ori's guitar or something. She picked up her guitar and was taping with one hand and it looked really cool, but you could barely hear it, any of it.

I also loved when she was done singing and just stared at Ori playing for a few seconds.

More than likely it sounded better in the actual building and the audience seemed to enjoy it. Plus, she got a pretty good response afterwards, so I think it's all good.

Sorry I love Allison, but that performance was just not that great. Idk, i guess her nerves got the best of her. I think she just has to calm down a bit. they looked they were having fun though.( alli and ori.)

I thought it was really good, we've seen better but damn good. The sound mix on these shows is never the best. The last note was fine, we're just used to her going high instead of low. The guitar volume could've been higher.

What's off? She's tired, she's been singing for two months almost none stop. Watch the performance again, perhaps people are expecting perfection from her.

Crikey..what is there not to like? I've just seen it and thought she was great (ok that last note was off, but it dosn't matter) I loved what she was wearing..Blacksunshine , did you notice...she put on leather pants for you!!! (Ori looked great too) and she sang hard as ever. I do think she is fighting with the band volume though and someone on Adams board said exactly the same thing, whiich has made me more aware of the problem, than before.. and they do need to look into that to be honest. Overall though, I thought it was super.

I went to see the video expecting a trainwreck after reading the comments here , and, well, I think it wasn't bad at all - like some said, not her best - but remember what Slezak said: Allison on a bad day is light years ahead of many, many other singers today

And Allison and Orianthi seemed to be having fun between them too

i didn't see it because the beer tent was more inviting...but...yea watchin the video above i didnt think she did a terrible job in the least. could it have been a little better, sure. but it wasn't anywhere near bad.

The video embedded on this post is much better. I liked the performance, it was vintage Allison. Orianthi made it better with the guitar work.

I agree though that Allison needs to learn to look at the camera and open her eyes. She doesn't play to the camera much, like she's just in her own little world. Most of the time, her hair was in her face.

My brother watched and his only comment was that Orianthi was hot. Men?!

Idol fans are really hard to please. They over analyzed everything and always expect perfection, since they've been "trained" to judge.

Having seen hundreds of DWTP versions, this wasn't the best but it certainly wasn't the worst or a train wreck.

IMO, this is how they should've market and dress (yes, I'm shallow) Allison since the begining. No weird hair, no weird dresses, just good 'ol Allison. She looked fantastic.

I thought it was pretty good to be honest-- a bit over complicated and not simple enough around the melody but a good job. I kinda hoped it would be great and showcase the voice more but hey I guess it was pretty much the 'live concert performance'.
And I agree image wise that was spot on as a contemporary rocker.

I thought the dancers were distracting and unnecessary but since it's a dance show, I can live with it. One thing is clear, they were having a freaking blast up there, you can see it when they're done, Orianthi's smile is huge and so is Allison's.

Does anyone else think that she needs to enunciate her words more clearly? I mean, she always used to have this little twang in her voice, but it seems way too heavy and distinct now, I think it's kind of overshadowing her amazing voice. What do you guys think?

The 'enunciate' thing has bored me from day one tbh (and that was a Loooong time ago!). I dont think it matters with rock and it doesnt bother me at all.


btw I am updating the 1st post if/when we see any bounce-- there is some already

Yeah, the enunciation critique bores me as well. Perhaps the problem is that she's not fit for pop, fans of pop maybe expect Celine Dion levels of diction, which I just do not want. The mumbly diction is part of her style, maybe it's a style that not a lot of people dig, but it is her. I dare someone to tell me that they actually understand what Eddie Veder, Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen are singing and if we're going for pop, how about Coldplay and The Fray? I cannot understand a single word coming out of that guy from the Fray, I still like the music when I do.
