Looking at the DWTP numbers is pretty scarey-- very few sales (looks like people are buying the £5 album instead)...

People are buying the album, probably thinking that the song is in there already, not that it's a new single.

They must be finding more music they like and value in getting the whole album. I think these would be people who already know her and are pursuaded by her tour perfomrances to buy. High chart position on radio is what will sell the single I think. Plus this performance of course.

personally i'm glad people are buying the album, even if it is $5. At least it's a sale.
