Yes, happy "AI" anniversary to Siobhan. What a hugely life-altering year. (And what love-hate feelings she must have towards the whole enterprise. On the one hand it did get her before us, and for that she and we are all grateful. But on the other hand, ugh, what an unscrupulous, unsavory, biased and wildly unfair operation it turned out to be.)
I'm pretty sure those two pics we love of her audition are from September 2009, not June. If I understand the sequence as she's explained it, the AI Boston cattle call was June 2009, and when she came back for the on-air judges it was September. The many thousands who attend the open calls are judged and cut by AI staff that, I believe, does not include the on-air judges. I'd expect the on-air judges aren't even present at the big cattle call tryouts -- there'd be little point to them being there. On that first visit a certain number are chosen to be seen later by the on-air judges, but that's an entirely different day, and for Siobhan in Boston I think that was September. It'd be interesting to know how many they let through, from the mass try-out, to the judging sessions that they show us (while implying, through editing, it's all one big try-out day). I'd guess the judges probably see no more than 10 people per hour. If they do that for 8 hours, that's 80 people, max... which is a drastic reduction from 10,000 and up who turn out on the cattle call days. It's probably fewer than 80, per judging day per city, I'd guess. Simon can't be bothered to sit still and listen for 1.7 minutes of When You Believe, so it's hard to imagine him listening to that much amateur singing in a day. Anywho... I think the adorable eyes-shut Wailer Siobhan pic is September 2009. If so, that might mean that, sadly, we don't even have any pics of the day she sat in a stadium in the rain, one face among thousands, waiting to sing for somebody. Imagine how short her hair must have been then, 3 months before the above picture? I wonder if in June 2009 she was still in her beyond-androgynous, experimental boy-look period? If she was, then I'd be a little more understanding of the one staff judge's comment when looking at and hearing her, of "a Ramones jacket, but singing Stevie? I don't get it." Maybe it was a bit more than musical genre mixing that he didn't "get" on first hearing/first glance. Maybe some pics exist of Siobhan that day. What do you say Siobhan? Emily? Dude who drove her? Other friends who tried out, too? Anybody? Who knows, maybe some will turn up someday. No hurry... I'm here 'til her cd comes out and beyond, like pretty much everybody else on this forum. If I'm wrong about this June-September spread, someone please correct me. --------------------

Give credit where credit is due.
It was her friend and co-drama club member Brendan McNamara who informed her of the Boston auditions and told her to go for it. I think he had relatives who lived near or around the Idol HQ's. It's the same Brendan she acknowledges as the neighbor of one of the fans asking for her signature who lived around the area. And of course...to her Mom Colleen Magnus who pushed Siobhan to audition on the day itself...she was having second thoughts about it, remember?!!! Thanks to their efforts in giving us the BEST singer and GREATEST performer to have come out of this crappy show American Idol in so many years!!!  --------------------
