Is American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert working on a second album yet?

J. Kelly, Fremont, Calif.

“Adam is so not even in the mind-set of thinking of a next album,” his publicist, Roger Widynowski, tells us. “We just launched this record [in November], and that is going to carry us for the next two years.” Lambert, 28, will be touring and performing this year to support his debut album, For Your Entertainment.

I can see that. Adam will be spending the majority of his time touring. He probably won't announce a tour until this Summer and if it's worldwide he'll be busy with that for a year. He won't have time to write and record. He'll be a busy boy. Fall of 2011 sounds about right. He does have the EP coming out in the next month or so though. thumbsup.gif

I can see that too. But it's really not that far out. The album came out Nov. 2009. November 2010 will be here before we know it and that's 1 year gone there. I think the time will fly by.

I find this nothing but positive because it means that RCA believes the album has legs and will be still kicking for 2 years. He's got so many potential singles that they can ride the album for a long time. He hasn't even begun to tour and he's already surpassed 500K copies.

Also the second one will be a longer process to complete. We all know how rushed the first ones are off the back of Idol.

I'm sure Adam will keep things interesting in these 2 years, there'll be plenty of remixes & rearrangements to look forward to. And there's the unheard bonus tracks that'll give us something to squee about.

And I'm hoping, hoping the songs that didn't make the cut for the album will surface sometime.

ITA with the comment upthread, this album has legs! RCA/19 must believe there is enough content to sustain it for 1.5 more years or so. This is totally in line with albums that release several singles. I think he will be a very busy boy with new videos, tours, international promo , and some acting.

WHEN he does work on a second album ( and I don't think there is a question of IF), I hope he will have more time to craft it exactly as his vision wants it to be wub.gif

I didn't expect a new album this year but I thought maybe spring 2011 or something like that. Still, a 2 yr cycle is pretty standard for quality artists. And who knows, maybe he'll be like Gaga and release a Fame Monster type short album somewhere in there.

As long as they keep him on the radio for the most part of the time until next album, it's OK. I just don't want him to disappear completely from the radio and media like the Davids.

He has said one of his biggest fears is fading into obscurity. I don't think he has to worry about that though. I know I'm here for eternity. He likes to be busy and RCA seems to be enjoying booking him everywhere. As long as he wants to keep working, I don't think he has to worry about obscurity.

I think I can handle two years. Isn't that how long it took for Cook?
He's writing for his new album now because he's been too busy touring right?
I think he still IS touring lol.

I'm not even thinking about another album yet. You've have ur fill of this one already? .... He hasn't even sung all of them live yet, he's only released two singles, hasn't been on tour.... .. I think most artists have *at least* a year between albums don't they? Adam's album hasn't even been out for half a year. I'm More than happy to spend my time with this one thumbsup.gif

I'm also hoping this will give him time for some TV/movie roles and alternative shows where he can sing some of his best that are not album songs. original.gif

I know almost nothing about contemporary music, but nowadays, two-three years between albums is routine, isn't it? He's going to be touring a lot, and, knowing him, making the news a lot, too.

He may even have a re-release of this one, as well. Lots of artists do that in between albums.
