Producer- Rob Cavallo And this is a fantastic article with quotes from Adam and some of his producers on the songs, etc. It's really tl;dr though. http://www.calendarlive.com/la-ca-adam-lam...0,6244120.story "I want to put it out there that I don't take myself all that seriously," he said. That's one of his mantras. "The dress-up supports that; the fantasy element supports it. People want to talk about whether I have rock cred, whether I'm selling out, the theatricality, the gay stuff. . . . Chill out! And just enjoy yourself. It's not that deep." "He can sing almost any note on a guitar from the lowest to highest," said Cavallo, who thinks Lambert's sense of style and soul, combined with that range, puts him in the realm of the greats. "And if you're in the studio with him and say, 'Can we get a little more dirty?' he'll go 'Waaaaah!' And then the microphone is melted and the speakers have exploded." thanks for posting about the songs and who was involved in them ![]() In an effort to keep this thread open and un-hijack it from the facial expression comparison thread, posts have been removed to keep people from continually quoting and responding. -------------------- ![]() |

It makes more sense than before yes, but I don't agree with it. SO you're saying that you don't like the songs now, but probably would like them with the visual? I still can't see how you can like the songs live, but not on the cd. They'll still sound the same. No, the visual spectacle will not be there on the cd, but the songs will still be the same. And the sound is a just as much part of the concert as the visual. I can understand that people don't like adam's music, he is very polarizing after all, but I'm interested in why exactly it is that people say Adam will be great live, but not a good recording artist. He has the most amazing voice which can do practically anything he wants it to. He can portray various moods with it, and a lot of people do think he possess a lot of soul/emotions including people in the industry. Adam is also very creative and he writes, is involved in arrangements etc. Furthermore he has a certain vision of how he wants his music to sound. Is it because he has a background in theatre that people feel this way? Is it because he is seen as theatrical and therefore can't possibly be considered a 'proper musician/artist'? I've never understood what's so wrong about being theatrical anyway. Freddie, Kiss, Bowie, Lady Gaga, Aerosmith, MJ, gwen Stefani also to an extent Pink are all theatrical. Haven't stopped any of them selling records. I'm talking in general here btw, not aiming this at anyone in particular. Ok, we can disagree To me, Adam on CD is not moving. In my eyes he doesn't possess that soul and emotion like you say. He excites people through performance. I will keep giving him the benefit of the doubt though because his voice is so amazing I wish it could have a place in the recording industry. I just feel like maybe he's spent so many years in theatre that his musicality seems kind of forced and rehearsed. It's a lot more awesome for me to hear singers with rough and crazy voices that aren't totally polished. -------------------- ![]() Becky and Niya laugh at others' deaths. How horrible...

FIBOU sounds pretty polished to me. W/e, it's your opinion. -------------------- |

I think all the Idol singles are too polished. I just mean I prefer the tone of Kris and Allison's voices. -------------------- ![]() Becky and Niya laugh at others' deaths. How horrible...

After hearing the snippets from Adam's album...I only like: Sleepwalker, Fever, and FYE!
I do want to hear Adam's whole album before I make a definite assessment on it but that's all I liked so far. I agree with magicmusic on Adam though. I do like his voice a lot and I think he is a talented performer but I also feel he lacks soul. I always felt there was something lacking in Adam's delivery with songs as well. He seemed to connect more with the songs like Tracks Of My Tears and Mad World than songs like Whole Lotta Love. Also I feel Adam is polarizing at times cause he can't find middle ground IMO! He either held back or exploded on stage. I always wanted Adam to just be a bit more natural. But I do love his nuances on stage and still respect as an artist nonetheless. -------------------- The Andra experience is the stuff of legends! ![]() I popped beckysspam's shifty cherry, Niya & Kendra are uber hot, Heta Rules Team Horny!

I just don't always get the sense that Adam knows the meaning behind the lyrics that he's singing It seems like you are not going to stop. The biggest example of kris sounding the same:All the snippets on his album. I personally still feel Kris struggling every notes in every songs. He is fighting with the notes and I can see every veins on his neck so I can't even feel he connect with the lyrics.Maybe he's trying to connect with the notes. Also,I hope he have a chance to improves on this with time because using his vein is not a proper way to sing. If he keep singing like this, his "soulful" voice will gone very soon. -------------------- |

Why do totally innocuous and hate-free comments seem to start fan wars around here? I really don't think idolwatcher was saying anything derogatory that deserved a Kris bash... You know, not everyone likes Adam or Kris or Allison. We all have different favorites here and different opinions. I dunno. I just think we should be able to debate in a way that doesn't end in flameouts and closed threads. -------------------- ![]() Becky and Niya laugh at others' deaths. How horrible...
