Okay this is going to sound bad haha buuut I don't really want to read The Hunger Games..everyone talks about how good it is but from reading the summaries it doesn't sound like a series I'd like at all.

I didn't think I would like it, but then I read it and I loved it despite the violence --------------------

- John Green is Is that really unpopular though? Or just because his books are not as popular as some of the other books in here? I dunno... for me John Greens books tend to have many of the same types of characters (quirky, and tbh kinda f*cked up, teen girl as the object of desire for the awkward nerdy teen boy with the 'comedic relief' best friend) and the main male characters sort of seem to be based loosely on himself, imo. Though I haven't read his latest books yet, so I'm not sure how they stack up against the older ones. (I've only read Paper Towns, Abundance of Katherines, and Looking For Alaska) They ARE decent books, just not my favorites. -------------------- ![]() |

I've only read "Looking For Alaska," but while I thought it was good I didn't think it was amazing at everyone made it out to be. I want to try to read a couple other of his books over the summer though.

Yeah, my favorite was Abundance of Katherines, actually. The others weren't bad though. *shrugs*

I think the Twilight Saga is blatantly sexist......oh wait, that's not an unpopular opinion, is it? Well, I think Stephenie Meyer, in a weird sort of way, though she was being a feminist, at least when she got to Breaking Dawn.
Anyway, I quite liked the violence in The Hunger Games. I don't like Gale though. He annoys me. Bellatrix Lestrange is my favorite evil character ever and Molly Weasley killing her was the best way for her to die, and in all honesty, that was my favorite part of the seventh book. I hate the Inheritance Cycle. I quite after the second book. My Sister's Keeper is the saddest book I've ever read; is that unpopular? The Darkest Powers is mad sexist as well. But once again, I thought Kelley Armstrong thought she was being a feminist. I wish there were some buff, tall, and athletic female characters in novels and some skinny bony dudes who fall in love with them. I'm reading a novel of this sort. Lastly, I think Lisbeth Salander is awesome! Then again, who doesn't? I guess that's not unpopular I suppose. I don't like Gale though. He annoys me. I don't like him either and the bomb thing in mockingjay was stupid I'm disappointed that J.K. Rowling wrote a adult book that is disturbing and sounds like fan fiction meets 50 shades of gray. --------------------

I don't like Peeta. I think that is more unpopular. Actually, I am not super into Hunger Games in general.

I prefer Gale over Peeta. I don't dislike him at all, but I like Gale.

50 Shades of Grey is actually incredibly offensive and gross and I'm not even referring to the porn/BDSM aspect.

Well since it was apparently originally Twilight fanfiction, I'm not surprised at the offensiveness of it. The original fanfic is still online, actually. But yeah, Christian Grey is one of the worst characters/love interests I've ever come across and I am seriously disturbed that so many women view him as some kind of masculine ideal. He is twisted and abusive and manipulative and controlling and just... wrong. I downloaded a pdf of the book for teh lulz. I didn't expect to be horrified by sexism and abuse. 50 Shades of Grey is on my reading list. I like to know what is being criticized before I go ahead and criticize it. But I am trying to get it fo free which has been impeding my reading of it.

Yeah... I kinda want to read it for myself too at some point, but I'm really hesitant about actually doing so because I have a feeling it'll just really annoy me.
