David Archuleta has done a lot of insane stuff that were unnoticed, Like in "Shop Around". The best for me is "We Can Work It Out" studio. And just recently during "In This Moment" he did something towards the end which is phenomenal for a 17 year old. I can't quite explain but he just switches his register with ease.

We also think that there are a lot more great female vocalists than male. So if ever the 2 genders are put together, it will probably be dominated by female.

Wow impressive. Can you explain more the way you rank and how often you re-rank them?


Even though only 2 of you watch AI, I believe you do give the materials of the AI contestants to your whole group and the whole group decides, am I correct?

Steven Tyler over Freddie Mercury? But other than that, I thought it was an interesting list. (I was going to be a music major and switched at the last second, but my musical knowledge is nonetheless adequate, lol.)

I don't participate in the rankings I just give them the materials. However I do know that this is more like an estimation rather than accuracy especially near the bottom. Like ranks 30-35 are interchangeable, something like that. But if someone is placed like #30, then we are absolutely sure that he/she is better than someone placed #40 or so. In this case, I think Archuleta can be as low as 45 but for the purpose of the list, he is placed at 32.

We don't do this full-time by the way. We all have jobs other than music. I have no idea how often it is updated. I just heard Archuleta made the list and I hasted to copy it and share it here since the Angels are just so nice this season. Also, I have seen a lot of changes since the last time I saw it. But nothing drastic whatsoever. Like some people gets bumped 1-3 spots down or up. Mariah was #5 the last time.

I don't understand why Kelly would get knocked off with "Never Again" - aren't they getting judged on their full body of work? If so, why would one new song knock them off?

For the record, This is not just about technical points. A lot of it has to be based on the difficulty of their materials. I don't believe the singer from Aerosmith is technically perfect. But a lot of singers won't even attempt to sing like him.

I guess I need to listen to some of his songs to appreciate his ranking. I don't understand why he would be ranked higher than so many of the guys on that list - particularly Freddie Mercury and Dennis DeYoung.

Ok, First of all, I mentioned that this is merely what we thought. I don't believe for a minute that everyone would agree. I myself disagrees on many points. But this is merely an unofficial list that I thought I'd share. Nothing to read between the lines. And people who are more experienced than me have decided on this list. I just give the artists and clips. I have claimed many times on this board that I am at least knowledgeable, but not an expert.

Secondly, as I have mentioned I don't participate in the rankings. I cannot answer why people would be knocked off by 1 song. I will raise that issue however as I completely understand you point.

Again, I do not wish for everyone to agree. This is merely our opinion. Nevertheless, some professional opinion as I would rightfully point out.

I was surprised to see Robert Plant in that position. Not that I have anything against him, I'm just obviously completely unfamiliar with his vocal prowess. I am very familiar with the majority of the singers on the list because I L.O.V.E. great singers (and I do love this list!!), but I obviously need to listen to more Robert Plant.

I want to listen to some songs but whenever I think of Led Zeppelin I mainly just hear the music in my head. Does anyone have any examples of songs where he is "crazy" vocally? Examples that demonstrate why he is a great vocalist?.

Elliott should be on this list! He has one of the best male voices of all time. It's better than Clay's if you ask me. And I don't get why Melinda's not on there either.

I always thought he did an impressive vocal on "Shop Around." It wasn't perfect, but he made the song technically harder to sing than it originally was. The jumps in range alone were incredible.

I think it's fantastic he made the list! And he's only going to get better as his voice settles. Can you guys imagine what he's going to sound like when he's 25?

I think I like "Shop Around" so much because it has a lot of low notes compared to the others songs (maybe it was in an unusual low key for him), and his timbre one lower notes is more pleasant to me than in the highers ones (which I found I bit whiny on the start, but I'm slowly starting to appreciate).

With "In This Moment" I was impressed by how much he changed, because I became familiar with the song. Like when he goes, on the last "IIIIII", up and then up again and I'm like - that was not in the original version.

Still trying to figure out Steve Tyler. Maybe his screams and babbling are more impressive than I think. Lol
