I thought I'd share this Options

Hello. First of all, This is not what you could call "Official". It's only what we, a group of dedicated vocal coaches and music majors (15 vocal coaches, 11 music majors), have been coming up with for the last 6 years. Only 2 of us watches American Idol.

Anyway it's a list of the top male and female vocalists based on their technicality, style and difficulty of what they have shown. Again, it's not something that you could say accurate nor I am telling everyone to agree with it. The story is that we add someone to the list every now and then and I think we have a pretty good extensive list since we started.

Im posting this hoping it might interest you what we thought about our Idol. If not, then this would be forgotten anyway so no harm done in sharing it right?

Wow......their isn't a lot of idol contestants on there. And some of the winners are no where to be seen. I think it's telling of Archie's talent to have him placed so high with such great names. And to make it better, these people are musically intelligent but objective.

I'd ask how do you rank them, but I'd probably not understand, at least, not in a practical away (theory is over the webs).

Interesting Carrie is the only one there.

And Archie, well, worst case scenario, his voice is witchcraft.

ETA: Could at least you say what was most impressive about David and the other AI contestants, for you people?

Very cool! I wonder how they would stack up with both genders mixed. I'm curious who would place higher, David or Carrie.

He is above so many respected artists! And at 17! When tons of these people are seasoned performers!

Freddie Mercury is personally my favorite male vocalist of all time, so to have Archie be mentioned in the same breath is astonishing and a huge honor.

I find it interesting that Melinda isn't even on there. She has been called the best singer to ever be on AI, so it makes me wonder why she isn't on this list. Also, Kelly. But I do think there must be legitimate reasons. I'm just curious what they are.

And it's funny to see no other AI7 finalists! And people say David isn't the best singer this year! Hell, this list is suggesting he is one of the best, or even THE best, EVER on this show!

I think it also helps his voice is VERY distinct. It has such a magical soft quality too it. Amazing.

I am quite surprised Melinda isn't on there, either. To me, she has far better vocal technique than Carrie although Carrie is great, too.

You guys rock at life. Freddie is so much more than a rock singer, he's a classically trained opera singer and he has an AMAZING voice. Listen to Somebody To Love, or Bohemian Rhapsody, or pretty much any other Queen song. Seriously, such a talented singer.
