After listening to the soundtrack I kind of feel like going to the beach I was just thinking about you and wondering what page you were on! I'm on page 131. YES! The party! What every Fanjaya wouldn't give to see that re-enacted or actually play Fiona! The more I read this. The more I think Sanjaya could play this. I mean even Tom's mother is a bit of hippie like Momjaya!! Plus he has a sister (younger though) too. Even with Tom's bizarro weird behavior and thoughts, he really is a compassionate non-judgemental guy. Like when his step father raided his room, completely misinterpreted everything in there and forced Tom to have "the talk" in front of his mother. That would send most teens into a unforgiving rage. But he was more bemused by it all than mad, forgave Little Big Tom and got over it. Doesn't that sound like Sanjaya to you? He's non-judgemental about his sisters adolescent mood swings and his best friend going all "weird" on him. He just kind of sits back observes the world around him and tries to make sense of it. On another note: all this rock band stuff is HILARIOUS! Which band version are you on? I'm at The Sadly Mistake. Mo Vittleson guitar, Sam "Noxious" Fumes on bass and landscaping, band name spelled out in bullet holes on the side of a family station wagon, first album "Kill the Boy Wonder". I think the physical transformation wouldn't be too hard. Tom wears glasses. Give Sanjaya some coke-bottled/horned rimmed glasses to exaggerate his eyes, a bad hair cut, dress him up in some geeky clothes (just look at that horribly EW photoshoot) and you've got "King Dork"! The rest is acting. This post has been edited by hollygo72: Jun 2nd 2007, 5:13 PM --------------------

Yeah Sam thought he would be more upset about him raiding his room but he's more or less like meh lol. It's good he didn't really freak out though because Tom more than made up for it What every Fanjaya wouldn't give to see that re-enacted or actually play Fiona! Omg you read my mind because I was like what if someone from IDF played her lol I have a sort of suspicious feeling that Fiona is so hard to find other than the reasons he states in the book. The band part I'm up to is when they played really bad " Don't play yahtzee with my heart " that it left Tom speechless. -------------------- ![]() * Thanks Angie for this sick sig * Danny's Fannies #5 * Check the thread * Obama '08 |

What do you think about the possibility of him playing the best friend Sam?
He apparently looks a little bit like a girl and is nicknamed "Peggy" Smart as a whip Has the ability to "bleed at will" to get out of P.E. And was able to trick a hot girl into giving him a BJ --------------------

mail@frankportman.com this is the author's email. I told him I love the book so far and asked him who would be his ideal Chi Mo.

Wow! You mailed the author? Tell me if he writes back. Ask him if he has anything to do with the development process of the movie. Drop Sanjaya's name!
Have you gotten to: "What happens when you need to get to Slut Heaven as quickly as possible but you can't drive" yet? Hey even Tom wants to get his GED just like Sanjaya did! --------------------

Yeah I did get to Slut Heaven at first I was like what the fruit? I know it's so crazy how much they have in common and it's leaving me speechless. Not sure if he will write back it was only like three sentences lol. I wanted to write to Will but I can't really find any contact information. I think I must really suck lol even on myspace. Did you get the whole code system he wrote about? -------------------- ![]() * Thanks Angie for this sick sig * Danny's Fannies #5 * Check the thread * Obama '08 |

This is fascinating and wonderful to speculate. My only thought is that I was hoping Sanjaya would do a romanitc comedy first. I would love to see a picture that has many closeups of his dreamy eyes, sings a love song, and has a happy ending where he gets to kiss the girl! Maybe his second film could feature him as the love interest in a romantic comedy.
Thanks Hollygo, this is fun. I will go get the book tomorrow. -------------------- |

Umm...I don't know about "romantic" but there certainly kissing and ummm "other" things going on. Tea, I could barely understand the code stuff. I mean, I get the general idea of it. Like the whole DaVinci Code aspect, right? Anyhoo, I find myself giggling at the Black Sabbath references in light of the whole Ozzy Osbourne drama. Deanna is reminding me of what little we know about Martha. Have you gotten to the talent show yet? I'm ROLLIN'!! It's kinda reminding me of American Idol This post has been edited by hollygo72: Jun 3rd 2007, 1:01 AM --------------------

The "King Dork" lead is tailor made for Sanjaya.
If they cast him, I will bet good money on the movie adaptation becoming a cult classic. The book sales will soar as well. Do it CAA, Will Ferrell. You know your gut is telling you the same. This post has been edited by cacofonix: Jun 3rd 2007, 1:04 AM -------------------- |

This does sound like a really good project for him and would explain the Will Farrell connection and that video. This is a Paramount studio film? Sanjaya was seen a Paramount a few weeks back, right? Maybe an audition? Here the article...it's pretty snarky but he was supposedly there.

Are you reading the book now? No, I might pic it up though and read it over the summer. I'm kinda busy right now. Just reading through the thread though is interesting. -------------------- ![]() Lyric: Cause you know, I don't do sadness. Not even a little bit. |

I finished the book!
I think it ended kind of awkwardly. Part of the story was suppose to be about his father's death. Was it an accident? Was it suicide? Was it murder? By the last few chapters I felt like the author was like, oh crap! I've got to resolve this! So he crammed in a TON of stuff in a short amount of space and tried connect it to everything. It was all too convuluted and complicated and even then he still left everything vague and unresolved. Maybe if he had spread it more evenly throughout the story more it would work better. That will be the challenge in the movie adaptation. If it were me, I would cull out a lot of that stuff and simplify it. But all the high school stuff - the social structure, the cliques, dating, sex, drugs etc... was TOP NOTCH and hilarious!! And I'll just say "King Dork" is a little less dorky by the end. I think Sanjaya is MORE than perfect for this role. Tom Henderson is extremely forgiving and has an enormous capacity to remain remarkebly calm in the face of all the utter insanity surrounding him - which is SO Sanjaya. Tom also goes from from what he considers "untouchable" and "uncool" to imminently more touchable This post has been edited by hollygo72: Jun 3rd 2007, 6:01 PM --------------------

I didn't find the book today, it was not available at Half Price Books, and Barnes and Noble did not have it in stock, they ordered it, but will take a week.

They must have a script written already. It says on imdb it's coming out in 2008. I wonder when they're scheduled to start filming?

It did feel kind of jumbled at the last minute. To me it was more about what Tom and Sam did to try to find out about what happened versus what actually happened, I'm not sure if that's even more confusing. I really didn't get caught up with who was responsible in the book. Omg the freaking talent show is hilarious! They really came into their own.
