Kalan's 21st Birthday Project, How You Can Participate Options

Kalan has received many gifts from his fans over the past two years, so we thought that we would do something a little bit different and special for him. We have decided to make a donation from the Kalanadians to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, in honour of Mrs. Porter and the struggle that she has recently undergone. It is important to note that 100% of the donation will remain wherever we specify. Of course, we would like the funds to go towards patients and families who have been or may someday be affected by breast cancer. The foundation is currently raising funds for the purchase of a $55,000 piece of equipment called a Gamma Detection System. This piece of equipment allows for less invasive testing and can provide much earlier detection of cancerous tumours. Also, all donations are recognized on the Donor Mural located in the Atrium of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and the foundation has also established donor recognition processes for various levels of annual donations via their Christmas telethon, various forms of media, etc.

Donations can be made by cash, cheque, or credit card. All cheques are to be made payable to The Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation and mailed to 666 5th Street SW, Medicine Hat, AB, T1A 4H6. For those wishing to make their donation by credit card, please go to the foundation website at www.palliserhealth.ca. Simply click on "Donations" at the top of the screen and then at the bottom of the page, click on "Donate Now through Canadahelps.org." In order for your donation to be added to the Kalanadian Group Donation, please use the drop down options beside "Fund/Designation" and choose "Women's Health Fund." In the area "Message / instructions for MEDICINE HAT AND DISTRICT HEALTH FOUNDATION", please type in the following: "As a member of the "Kalanadians" I am making this donation in honour of Mrs. Janet Porter. I would like my donated funds to go directly towards the purchase of an Ethicon Gamma Counter." The form also provides you with an option to have a notice sent along with a short message from you to Mrs. Porter, informing her of your donation in her honour. All donations over $10 will be issued an income tax receipt by the foundation.

The cut off date for this project will be November 7th. We will then contact the foundation and get the grand total of all donations raised by the Kalanadians to date. A birthday card will then be sent to Kalan, together with notification of the donation made on his mother's behalf. We will also be accepting SHORT birthday messages from everyone who donates to the foundation on Mrs. Porter's behalf, and will be including these messages with the card and donation notice to Kalan. Please note that donations made after November 7th will continue to be received by the foundation, however, any birthday messages for Kalan cannot be forwarded to him after this date. We must get this to Kalan in time for his birthday, so there isn't any wiggle room where this one is concerned. lol We also ask that you do your best to keep your messages to Kalan as short as possible - we don't want Kalan reaching his 22nd birthday before getting through them all. lol Once you have made a donation, please feel free to send your birthday wishes to Kalan at kalanis21@gmail.com. This email address may also be used for any questions that you may have regarding the project. Regardless of the size of your donation, anyone contributing to this worthwhile cause will be entitled to send a birthday message to Kalan.

We think that this would be a great way to wish Kalan a happy birthday and also a great way to show that we care not only about him, but about his family as well. Thanks for posting! This is such a wonderful project, and not only for kalan fans. This equiptment is essential to the early detecting of Breast Cancer...and a little donation goes a long way.
Think about it...one cup of coffee. If everyone spared a couple of dollars, it would add up in the end.
