Carrie’s Chart and Sales Update (11/24/05) Options

Edit (11/25/05): Summary and history updated to add 2 charts that were not available yesterday, the Billboard Top Digital Albums chart and the Canadian Country Albums chart. Also added/corrected information on IYH going Gold, its reappearance on the Pop 100 and its position on the Hot Country Singles Sales chart.


Summary:

Carrie finds herself on 19 different charts this week. Here’s the breakdown.


Carrie’s debut album, Some Hearts, had an exceptional opening week. 1st week sales were 314,549. This gives Carrie the highest opening week sales for a debut album by a country artist, surpassing the 227K in sales for Gretchen Wilson’s Here For The Party. Some Hearts’ 1st week sales were enough to easily take over the #1 spot on the Hot Country Albums chart as the Hot Shot Debut. Some Hearts’ opening week sales are also good enough to debut at #2 on the Billboard 200, the Billboard Comprehensive Albums chart and the Top Digital Albums chart. Some Hearts also debuted at #6 on the Top Internet Album Sales chart. In Canada, Some Hearts debuted on the Top 100 Canadian Albums chart at #20 and on the Canadian Country Albums chart at #2.


JTTW continues to climb up the airplay charts. On Billboard, JTTW climbed 4 spots to #14 on the Hot Country Songs & Tracks chart. JTTW was also designated as the Greatest Gainer for the 5th straight week and was 6th in the list of Most Airplay Adds. JTTW also climbed 4 spots to #26 on the Hot Christian AC chart and climbed 6 spots to #30 on the Hot Christian Singles & Tracks chart. Finally, JTTW jumped 11 spots to #58 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart.

On Radio & Records, JTTW climbed 7 spots to #13 on the Country chart. In addition, JTTW led the list of Most Increased Points for Country (i.e. greatest airplay increase) for the 4th straight week. Finally, though not yet on the Canadian Country chart, JTTW is 3rd on the New & Active list with 179 spins on 14 stations and 3 new adds. Also, JTTW is 4th in the Most Increased Plays list for Canadian Country with an increase of 68 spins.

JTTW (along with most other songs) saw a drop in digital sales this week. The digital sales for JTTW this week are 10,690. However, even with a 25% drop in digital sales, JTTW only dropping one spot to #29 on the Hot Digital Songs chart and dropped 4 spots to #29 on the Hot Digital Tracks chart. Additionally, due to increased airplay, JTTW climbed 3 spots to #42 on the Billboard Hot 100. But, JTTW dropped 8 spots to #54 on the Pop 100.


This week, the Gold bullet returned for IYH indicating that it now officially has Gold certification for having over 100K in download.

This week, Carrie’s IYH went recurrent on both the Billboard’s AC chart (ending a 21-week run that peaked at #12) and the Radio & Records AC chart (ending a 20-week run peaking at #10).

On the sales charts this week, Carrie’s IYH dropped to #2 on the Hot Country Singles Sales chart after a 23 week run at #1. Carrie’s IYH dropped one spot to #4 on the Hot 100 Singles Sales chart. Carrie’s IYH also dropped one spot to #4 on the Canadian Singles Sales chart. Additionally, IYH has returned to the Pop 100 at #94.


Though the song “Some Hearts” is still not on any charts this week, Radio & Records has it listed as 4th on the New & Active list for Hot AC with 69 spins on 14 stations and 5 new adds.

• Nov 24 – Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (NBC at 10 AM ET): Carrie will be on the Pillsbury float and will perform SH.
• Nov 30 – Christmas at Rockefeller Center (NBC at 8 PM ET): Carrie will be performing.
• Dec 2 – Dateline NBC (NBC at 10 PM ET)
• Dec 5 – Ellen DeGeneres (NBC)
• Dec 6 – Billboard Music Awards (FOX at 8 PM ET): Carrie will be performing.
• Dec 8 – Country Cares Benefit Concert in Detroit: Carrie will perform along with Martina McBride and LeAnn Rimes.
• Dec 9 – CMT: 2005 Greatest Women Of The Year (CMT at 9 PM ET)
• Dec 11 – The E! True Hollywood Story: Women Of American Idol - Girls Rule (E!)
• Dec 14 – Christmas in Washington (8 PM ET on TNT): Carrie, along with Rascal Flatts, will perform for the President.
• Dec 16 – CMT: In The Moment (10 PM ET on CMT)

There is so much information about Carrie on the charts this week that I keep finding new things.

This time the new information is regarding IYH. First and foremost, IYH has finally officially been certified as Gold (presumably for 100K+ downloads). Second, IYH reappeared on the Pop 100 at #94 (next time I will check the whole chart and not stop when I come to JTTW ). Finally, the Country Singles Sales chart was not updated on the Billboard site this week and I assumed IYH was still at #1. Unfortunately, I just found out that it dropped to #2.
