As the weeks fly by we’re left with only seven performers! All of them would face a live band and they had to pick between the finest songs out of the big band era to ensure their own safety. How well did that go? Find out!
Suzi Rawn started the night and if we’d judge her clothes, ouch! That hat she wore looked awful, the dress with all the flowers looked like something an old lady would wear in her late sixties, but anyway. She decided to sing “Minnie the Moocher” by Cab Calloway and she started flat, but got herself together once she started scatting. She interacted amazingly well with the crowd and got them all scatting with her. Her stage presence was stronger than usual and she’s the best when it comes down to performing, a very strong Suzi for a genre that a lot of people expected her to do badly. Jake said that Suzi had style and substance. Farley said that it’s awesome that Suzi showed her fun personality and that she sang well in the same time. Sass said that it was amazingly fun and absolute fabulous. She also screamed all of that like a retired cheerleader. Zack commented it with a good for you and Sass started laughing like a giggly fan girl. Wow and we still have six performances to go! Aaron Walpole was the second performer of the night and he decided to sing “I Can't Believe That You’re In Love with me” by Dean Martin. He wore a black tuxedo and a black hat. Well he probably tried to look elegant, but it looked rather funny. His vocals were flawless, but his stage presence was very theatrical for me and I didn’t really get into it. Farley said that Aaron stayed true to himself. Sass said that she was impressed by Aaron’s skill and that he is supposed to do that. Zack said that there is good news and bad news, both of them being that it was fantastic, except he pointed at Sass for the bad news. Jake said that Aaron is a sing and dance man. Melissa O’Neil was the next to sing for us and she looked lovely. I really liked her dress and the flower on her head, which reminded a little bit of Jasmine Trias. She decided to sing “It’s De-Lovely” by Ella Fitzgerald. Her vocals were awesome and I really enjoyed listening to it, because she had the right vibe and attitude to pull it off. I also really enjoyed watching her and she made it seem as if she’s born to do this. Sass said that Melissa is the best singer on the show right now and that she had the right vibe and emotion to do this. Zack said that Melissa is a classic in every generation and that she’s a serious threat to win this competition. Jake said that he’s glad that Canada finally saw why Melissa is on the show and that he’s glad she’s still there. Farley said that she looked like she belongs in that time and that she did everything with ease. Josh Palmer is the fourth contender to grace the idol stage and he picked “When I Fall in Love” by Diane Schurr. I loved his white suit and his hair wasn’t messy as usual and looked like he actually put effort into it, well done in that area. Singing wise he didn’t let me down at all, except some weird noises during the middle of the song. I loved the emotion he carried through his voice and facial expressions. Everything about it seemed so classy and old fashioned that I forgot for a moment that I watched Idol and felt like I was watching an old movie. He seriously is the only one in this competition who has never let me down with any of his performances yet. Zack seemed to be very impressed by Josh as he said that it was one of the most breath taking things he has ever seen in his life and that he’s the happiest he has ever been on this show. Jake called Josh handsome and that he has amazing eyes, now that the hair is out of his face. He also called the singing spectacular. Farley said that Josh usually sings in a flatter tone but that he sang this song soft and sweet and that it was perfect for the song. Sass said it was dark, mysterious and she also called him a contemporary idol. Rex Goudie is next up on stage and he picked a song by one of my favorite male singers ever Michael Bublé. “Feelin’ good” and he did a very good job on the low notes, except some flat stuff. However once he hits the higher register I start to cringe and that’s not the first time. I also didn’t like the pronunciation of the words, but he’s a Newfoundlander and I forgive him that one. I was impressed by the emotion he added to the song though and he also looked a lot more comfortable on stage than usual. Jake said pretty much that he made the song his own and that he maybe sang the best he has ever sung on the show. Farley called Rex a natural and that if he has fun on stage, everyone has fun. Sass said that it was gosh night on the judging panel and that everyone is blowing her away. Zack had the idea to copy the Amazing Race and make this show a non-elimination show, so that everyone can stay tomorrow. Casey LeBlanc is the second last performer of the night and decided to sing “I Could Write a Book” by Dinah Washington. She looked stunning and she started pretty well. She looked more comfortable than usual, but once she hit the chorus her voice starts to crack on the higher notes and she ran out of breath. She also looked like she just wanted it to be over after the crack disaster, which led to a rushing finale of the song. Farley said that she looked great, but that it was a safe performance. Sass agreed with Farley and added that she doesn’t think that it was her genre. Zack said one line in the middle of the song was quite spectacular and that she looked great. Jake said it didn’t feel right and he didn’t know why. Daryl Brunt closed the show with “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. He looked like a choir boy, but I thought it was pretty cute. He sang the whole song nicely, except some notes which fell flat. His stage presence however looked awkward and he didn’t really look like he knew what do to with himself while he was performing it. Sass that it was weird and that he was flat on the higher notes. Jake said that it was tiny talent time and that he and Casey are on a different TV show than the rest of the people. Jake said that it was one of the cheesiest performances ever on the show and Farley didn’t feel that Daryl won him over. I loved this show; everyone did a pretty good job! My Top Three in Alphabetical Order: Josh, Melissa and Suzi My Bottom Three in Alphabetical Order: Casey, Daryl and Rex -------------------- |

Great review, Cheyenne! I watched all of the performances and judges comments this week so I can agree with you on everything.
I would put Aaron in my personal Top 3 instead of Josh (even though Josh sung well and was classy). -------------------- sytycd7: lauren. bbuk11: corin. mario. keeley. josie. andrew. rachel. bbus12: rachel. britney. brendon. andrew.
