** Neurox's Future Roadmap Options

It's been asked many times what will happen to this site after American Idol 2 ends. We dropped a few hints here and there but nothing was said for sure until now. This post contains our official plan for the future as we see it.

I'll start off by addressing the websites (aidol.neurox.net). Aidol.neurox.net will be staying. The individual contestant pages will be gone with the exception of Ruben's (ruben.neurox.net). Don't worry; we'll still have all the media we currently have available on that site. Any additional media we come across from voted off contestants of American Idol 1 and 2 will also be posted on this site. Our site will be somewhat similar to idolonline.org for those of you who are confused by this. The address may change from aidol.neurox.net to some .com address, but for now we have no plans of changing it. Ruben's site will most likely get a slight redesign and a few added features. As for Clay's site (clay.neurox.net), I'll be discussing that further down in this post.

That is what we currently have planned for aidol.neurox.net at the moment.

The forums are the next big change we have planned. Many of the regular visitors of this site may have noticed that there have been frequent periods of downtime over the past 5 or 6 weeks. The problem mainly occurred on days which American Idol aired. This caused many headaches for us (the admin’s) as it probably did for you. The server loads on those days were just too high for our server to handle. We have purchased a new machine and are currently working behind the scenes to set it up.

Now I'll get into the specifics of the forum changes.

Idolforums.neurox.net will change to www.idolforums.com. We'll be merging all of the contestant forums except for Ruben's into one contestant archive forum. There are simply too many forums to keep right now and half of them have next to no activity. We'll be keeping the General Discussion forum, Kelly Clarkson forum, Ruben Studdard forum as well as the Miscellaneous forums. What we'll be adding to www.idolforums.com are a Canadian Idol and American Juniors forum. A single forum for each in which you can discuss the said shows. We may add more forums depending on the demand for them but for now, that's all we have planned for IdolForums.

Ok now before all the Clay fans jump me, I'll get into our plans for his site.

Clay.neurox.net will remain open. Like the Ruben Studdard site it will also get a redesign. In addition to the redesign, we'll be adding many additional sections such as News, Appearances, Bio/Facts, Image Gallery, etc. It will be more like your typical fan site.

Earlier I stated that all the kicked off contestant forums will be put into an archive on IdolForums.com. This is true for the Clay Aiken forum as well. We will however be opening up www.AikenForums.com, a forum solely based on Clay Aiken. This new forum will open up at the same time as the IdolForums.com server move. We're currently working on it so that nobody will have to re-register for either forum or lose their post counts.

We're aiming the IdolForums.com and AikenForums.com site launch for the May 30th weekend but this may be pushed back to the June 6th weekend. There are still a few issues we have to work out before we can go ahead with the change. While we make the changes, the forums will be down for a period of a few hours. We'll try our best to do this during off hours (3am). Either way we'll give everyone at least 24 hours heads-up notice.

The website changes will take place following the forum changes. With all the changes we're making we'll require quite a few new moderators for the forums as well as site admin’s to help with updating the websites. Don't message us about becoming a mod/site admin; we'll be doing the asking.

To wrap it up, we're making a lot of changes for what we believe to be the better. We appreciate all your support through our run so far as well as your continued support through our future changes. Who would've thought we'd become this popular after a mere 10 weeks? Certainly not me that's for sure.

I really just want to gush at how amazing this site is and thank you so much for providing us with all of our media needs. I can't imagine the work you guys have to put into it to make us all happy. Thanks so much and I look forward to the changes!

Major props to you and the neurox team! I seems like you read my mind on what would be best for the forums, and the site as a whole. Are you sure we weren't separated at birth?

I'm sure I speak for Clayniacs everywhere when I say: Thank you for giving us a place to come together and support the most amazing talent music has seen in quite some time. The SVCD's and MP3's are incredible, as are the caps. You folks are incredible!

I personally nominate the Admins for WebIdol 2003... and the award goes to...Neurox!!!

Thanks to Tom, Rewobo and all the other admins here at Neurox- you guys are amazing. Your plans for the site sound great and I can't wait to see the results of all your hard work!

We hope to keep the downtime to no more than 3 hours. Once the 2 forums come back online it will look completely different (in a good way). We're changing from our current forum software to Invision if anyone cares about that sort of stuff :-P. The search function on the forums will finally make its return as well.

Thank God you're keeping the Kelly portions of this site!! I have been a complete addict, since the old black layout several months back. I wouldn't know what to do if yall didn't give me my dose of up-to-date kelly media... once again, thanks bunches :-D
