Australian singing sensation Cosima De Vito realised two things from a very early age – she wanted to sing for a living, and she one day wanted to have her own record company.

In the past 12 months, both of those dreams have come true, and even her daydream of having top U.S. songwriter Diane Warren give her a song, has become a reality.

In fact, the reality far beyond that daydream is that Diane Warren has given Cosima an album full of potential hit songs – and is attached to the project as Executive Producer.

The self-titled album will be released by Cosima’s CDV Records (through MGM) in October.

August 9, 2004 sees the release of Cosima’s debut single, the double A-side “When The War Is Over” and Diane Warren’s “One Night Without You”.

The release of “When The War Is Over” is a one-off and will not be featured on the album. “I’m doing it for the fans,” says Cosima, “to give something back to all the people who supported me in Australian Idol. It was always going to be my first single.”

“One Night Without You” will give listeners a taste of the forthcoming album, and the marriage between Cosima’s astonishing vocals and Diane Warren’s magical words and melodies.

Legendary songwriter Diane Warren is responsible for some of the biggest-selling hits of the past 15 years, enhancing the careers of some of the world’s greatest performers, among them Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Leann Rimes, Starship, Michael Bolton, Cheap Trick, Dusty Springfield, Ace of Base, Monica, Belinda Carlisle, Meat Loaf, Patti LaBelle, Taylor Dayne, Gloria Estefan and Barbara Streisand, amongst many more.

Diane has had her songs in more than 50 major motion pictures, she has won a Grammy, had countless Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations and was the first songwriter in the history of Billboard to have seven hits, all by different artists, on the singles chart at the same time.

There is no mistaking that Diane was genuinely impressed when she first heard Cosima De Vito.

“When I heard her sing, I was blown away,” says Diane Warren. “She’s a great singer, she’s really up there, she’s fantastic. When I heard her, I thought, I really wanna work with this girl. She was so soulful and I love soulful singers.”

In L.A., Warren teamed Cosima with two of her top producers –Khris Kellow (Christina Aguilera’s debut album) and Peter Stengaard (N’Sync singer JC Chasez’s single, “Some Girls Dance With Women”).

“I fell in love with both of them,” says Cosima. “The relationship between a producer and an artist is a beautiful thing. They helped me bring out the emotion in the songs, and both of them really brought out the best in my singing and they really, really made me feel comfortable.”

Working with the world’s top talent is a long-held dream from Cosima’s beginnings in Fremantle, Western Australia when, as a nine year old, she proudly took out first prize in a talent quest singing “The Greatest Love Of All”.

Years of singing and dance training followed, and in 2003, Cosima had the honour of reaching the top 3 on the TV phenomenon Australian Idol, captivating the hearts of viewers across the nation with “that voice”.

By exiting the competition at that stage, Cosima left the field open to Guy Sebastian and Shannon Noll, the two friends of whom she is immensely proud. “They’re great guys and when I hear their music on the radio, I turn them up,” Cosima says. “I’m proud of both of them, and all the other Idols too. We went through an amazing experience together and we’re all friends for life.”

It’s only a matter of time before Cosima joins Guy and Shannon at the top of the charts with her debut album, Cosima De Vito and its lead single, “When The War Is Over” / “One Night Without You”.

And then, with the support of Diane Warren and the Realsongs team in Hollywood, Cosima will take on the world.
