Merrill, re Lupe being his ticket to overseas, we agree. This track is turning into a runaway (and even a runway, ) it shot immediately up to #2 on the 1st day and has well overhauled the top song "Boom Boom" which is by the Justice Crew (see Australia's Got Talent a few years back).

Really loving the whole song, such a great blend of voices and sound. There are so many youtubes, but for overseas, the one Liat has quoted would be best, meanwhile.

just a quick repost here - Except for a very small amount of time, Guy and Lupe with "Battle Scars" have been #1 on iTunes for the whole week, even holding off Taylor Swift. Loved the rather sweet tweet of one Taylor fan, who asked Guy whether he wasn't being a bit selfish with the #1 position there, and how about sharing it out a bit to others

I love the video. I can't believe how many views the song has on YouTube, it's never been like this before. I can't get it on Itunes here yet, which is annoying. I could torrent it but I'd rather pay for it myself,it's worth it.

My husband and mom are getting pretty sick of me playing it all the time! My favourite part of the song is when he says "Now you're down on the ground screaming medic" and in the video how you can see Guy in the background put his head back and yell it.

which I'm finding fascinating because its explaining re no A&R guys as there used to be, scouting around the pubs and clubs etc; Guy explains producing the track; chats about XFactor and how it is set up this year, a little differently from before.

And the song is gaining momentum, and not losing any ground!!

Guy Sebastian stays at No.1 for a second week with his sixth chart-topping single “Battle Scars”, picking up a Gold sales certification and it becomes his third consecutive two-week-running No.1 track, as “Like it Like That” (Sept 2009) and “Who’s That Girl” (Dec 2011) both spent two weeks at the top.


Gavin Ryan reports that if “Battle Scars” stays for another week it will tie his first single “Angels Brought Me Here” for his longest run at the top, as that track spent three weeks at No.1 in December of 2003. Guy this week also racks up eleven accumulated weeks at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart, the same amount of weeks that U2 have racked up from their five No.1 songs, and if he stays atop next week, he will tie P!nk’s 12 weeks from 6 No.1’s too.

I'll have to remember US, UK, Canada etc. are well behind us in time, and not get too excited on Australia's August 28.

I found my password for http://www.allaccess.com/mediabase, which has a section that shows the radio playlist adds for songs. It was fascinating to watch the adds for Who's That Girl, as different stations in different areas added it. But Who's That Girl was an indie release in the US so had its limitations. Battle Scars is going to have much more push behind it.

There were about 15 different coves on US Itunes before Guy and Lupe even got on there. Anyway, Battle Scars has been on US Itunes about 8 hours now ... and is #99 on the pop chart and was 30-something on the Hip Hop chart last time I looked.

USA needs radio play spins to chart overall and track has just gone to radio. However based on SALES ALONE it was #1 R&B/Hip Hop digital sales chart , #23 Billboard digital chart, and #73 Hot 100 (which includes radio play which it hadn't had) 1wk after release

Great news though, to get A #1 on the Billboard chart, considering it was only fans of botha artists who knew about this track. Not to be forgetting that Lupe ALSO had Bitch Bad out, plus another track.

This is their amazing live show on XFactor on Tuesday night, on the results show. The song has hit #1 yet again on Australian iTunes, its pushing big stuff.

Saw the lovely TimCampbellTwit on twitter say after the performance that if this is the Xfactor then Guy has all the other letters! Some awed twitters from so many in the music industry, just so enthusing and even stunned on occasion. (The stunned ones obviously never been to one of Guy's shows. I still recall 1 couple years ago making a derisive, 'hate' twitter at some media show, forgetting that there were plenty of other people with their phones who were tweeting and sending photos of the crowds getting up & taking photos. Best part of 'instant media' these days is that 'the truth is out there' to be seen! )

Thank you Liat and Merrill.. it was such a flying visit, because Guy's mentor on our XFactor which is on tomorrow night here in Australia. It did six weeks at #1, slipped to $1 with the Gangnam
someone did some work with numbers and said that Gangnam was selling CRAZY figures, so that if Guy was even half that........................... it would be a number that would have put the song way out of the normal league, still!

And ARMAGEDDON ALBUM COMING THIS FRIDAY OCTOBER 12 (I noticed there'd been a slight hiccup on iTunes for around a week, but eventually Sony / iTunes fixed it and so it started to climb again. But many people are buying the physical / deluxe with DVD set)

btw, Battle Scars has gone to 4P in 8 weeks, but our stats person has done high level checking and reckons its a whisker off 5P , Sony sometimes choose not to do the paper work and have it certified for the next until it suits them.
