Time to balance for the International Balloon Festival of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, who hosted this year more than 400,000 festival-goers in record-breaking attendance with the performance of Adam Lambert.

"It was a very nice edition, even if we had some rainy days especially during the last weekend," says Louise Lamoureux, director of entertainment.

The kickoff of the 27th edition of the International was given August 14 show with Adam Lambert, preceded Orianthi, guitarist Michael Jackson had chosen for his show This is it.

That day, 75,000 people entered the site, breaking the record last year while 71,000 people had attended the performance of Simple Plan.

"There were lots of people around the site, and perhaps 50,000 to the scene," says Lamoureux.

"All the conditions were there. It was nice, we had a hot air balloon flight just before and it was his first visit to Quebec, "she said about the young singer, 28, revealed during the eighth season of American Idol.

According to her, the young pop sensation has performed "majestic", colorful, and run a quarter turn. Louise Lamoureux says Adam Lambert has also chosen to spend the night in Montreal to visit some clubs in the metropolis.

Akon in the crowd

In order of importance, the three largest crowds of the festival were recorded for the performances of Adam Lambert, Akon and Edward Maya.

In the case of Akon, Louise Lamoureux worked for two years to draw in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

"The rain did not stop young people from coming," she said on the show Saturday night. It has been super generous.

"His bodyguards and his manager came to see the scene before the show, and they found Akon is too far from the public. We added a tip catwalk, says she. During the nine days of the event, the 411,478 festival-goers who have entered the site (compared to 376,149 in 2009) were able to see Bobby Bazin, Marjo (surrounded by his men), Les Trois Accords, Jean-François Breau and Marie-Eve Janvier, Pascal Chaumont, Louis-José Houde, Jonathan Roy, Les Cowboys Fringants Badouri and Rachid, who closed the march on Sunday night.

"It was raining and it was so, so generous," said Louise Lamoureux about the young comedian.

"He stayed on the catwalk in the rain. It is often in moments like this we see the true personality of people. "

Next year

Louise Lamoureux, who worked with Donald K. Donald to find his international artists, already has the lead in the 28th edition, which will take place next year from August 13 to 21.

The International Balloon Festival of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu is the largest gathering of hot air balloons in Canada (115 balloons). This year, the balloons were flying at ten times over the nine days of the festival.
