Good for Casey! Still doesn't change my opinion that it is better than Lee's but not as good as Crystal's or Siobhan's first singles.

So happy for Casey!

Hate to say it, I'm not loving it. Too bland to even hate anything. But I know very little about country radio, Scotty's single sounds stupid as hell too, yet it's doing great, but his voice is more typical country at least, I feel.

I had hoped that James going more southern rock tinged sound.

I wouldn't say this song is generally a fan favorite or anything. The song was much more bluesy and slower originally but they changed it with the studio production. BNA hasn't pushed the song that hard yet. Personally I think it is just basically an introduction for Casey to country radio. Luckily for Casey he has loads of other songs that would be very good singles for radio (definitely better then this one). I think this one just basically touches what Casey is about, it has a bit of country, soul and a bit of rock.

It is difficult in a way, a lot of Casey's songs are very different or in different genres, there are some straight forward country songs, straight up rock songs, bluesy song and even a pop song, and songs that is a mixture of all of those elements. If you just listen to this single and you think all of Casey's music sounds like this you would be very wrong, but I think this is very difficult to really understand if you haven't actually listened to Casey's other music.
It isn't my favorite Casey song but it is fun and catchy so I can see why they picked it for a first single, and so far Casey has gotten nothing but very good reviews for the song.

I agree that Crystal's song was better then this one, but at the same time it is two very different songs. Crystal's song was a serious song about abuse, and this is a very fun, light hearted song it is not songs that you would necessarily compare to each other, other for the fact that they were both debut singles.
As for Beatrice Dream, there I dont quite agree. There were some good parts but overall it just seemed like mixing to many genres together, and not getting it done cohesively enough. It didn't quite work for me, but I will still check out her album.

I disagree. Siobhan's vocals are amazing and the song delivers a great message, especially to young girls. I've got 3 girls so it's great to see good, positive messages coming from female singers.

The song definitely could have been more cohesive, but Siobhan's never been one to label herself so I'm OK with that as long as enjoy what I'm listening to. I've herd the other 3 songs she's completed so far for her album and I think they are much better in this regard.

Anyway, this thread isn't about Siobhan's single, so back on topic.
