he looks like a bum, but I guess I can accept that that's just his "style" or whatever. But the bubblegum incident was pretty disrespectful to the show. That's all I'm saying.

Yeah, and Heejun's "My Life" was "disrespectful to the show" too haha.gif rolleyes.gif

I wish that Phillip had pretended it was his medication and feigned crumpling to the floor in agony.

Ryan's face would have been priceless haha.gif

Dressing/looking like a bum isn't a style. If it is, that style has a huge following on the park benches, although I doubt those unfortunates could afford bubble gum.

All I can say is that Phillip is the most classless contestant that I have ever seen on that show.
He has taken the "be yourself" theme far beyond any kind of boundaries.

I'm not an old fuddy duddy but this guy just pixxes me off. What next Phillip? Smoke some pot on stage? Wear your ripped up blue jeans? Spit on the floor?

He needs to show some respect. At least try to look like a professional instead of a park bench want to be.

If that's what bums look like where you live, I seriously need you to send me the coordinates so I can put up my tent in one of your parks.

I can see how his very laid-back attitude can be offensive to some, but you're really blowing this way out of proportion...

LMAO! Sign me up bruv! heart.gif

You're all taking it way too seriously. It's a CHEESY A$$ SINGING SHOW. It basically disrespects itself.

True, it is a cheesy show.

But I still feel like he should try to put in some effort. At the end of the day, while this show is cheesy, it is still a great opportunity, and he looks kind of bratty for not playing along. Maybe it's just me, but when I'm presented with three contestants who are trying hard and taking the show seriously, and one guy who doesn't bother to look decent and chomps on gum during the telecast... I'm going to support the contestants that are trying. (Especially since they sing better anyway)

Whatever, we can agree to disagree. And maybe it's a location/cultural thing. Everyone I know thinks he looks like a bum and doesn't understand why he won't groom himself appropriately (especially when he has so many clothing/styling resources available to him). But maybe other parts of the country are more casual? I don't really know..

Well, I guess different people can take it differently. And you do have a point about just being presentable on TV. I guess I just don't think it's "the most offensive thing I've ever seen" or "obscene" or "disrespectful".

I do actually want him to dress better, but only for how hot he would look in better clothes and styling heart.gif

I'm not the biggest fan of this season anymore sad.gif None of the remaining contestants are as great as I hoped them to be. Nonetheless, I think they are all very talented.

haha.gif While I agree he doesn't have a great sense of style, and the chewing gum is kinda nasty, how do we know it wasn't planned between Ryan, Nigel and him?

someone mentioned somewhere that, for pains like Phillip is experiencing, doctors often recommend chewing gum as some kind of corporeal 'distraction.'

i have no idea how credible that is but it sounds somewhat logical. plus, i'm not a Phillip fan so i really couldn't care less about his 'image' on the show.

You must have missed out on the 90's. The industry turned it into a style:

Here's a really unpopular one: Phillip's version of "The letter" was pretty cool. To me that was actually one of his best performances. fear.gif

I loved Phillip's The Stone and Jessica's Proud Mary. I didn't like Joshua's To Love Somebody for some reason unsure.gif Maybe because I am such a huge fan of Clay's version.

The second half of Jessica's run on this show (so far) has been much better than the first.
