So I've been seeing tweets from him - pics of the beach, hiking and the like.

What about studio time? What about recording? What about meetings??

Anyone hear anything? And not about rehearsing for the tour. I don't care about that. I want the REAL stuff.

The way I remember that is that director is using cuts from his already recorded material, from the Grand Magnolias to use for soundtrack.

Unless there's been some other deal worked out.

Paul was talking a lot about recording demos right before he left the show. And then after he was talking about maybe doing a solo album.

Any more news on that?

What's next for Paul McDonald: "I have been doing a bunch of writing and I got asked to score a film. It is Peter Facinelli's film and it's called Lucy's. It’s a cool film. The dad in the Twilight movies hunted me down and asked me to score his film. How cool is that? He told me, "I like it so much better than what you did on Idol." That felt good because he was talking about original stuff I wrote instead of covers. I will gladly accept the work. I've got a band. The record we released in November is doing really well. Those guys have been my family for the last few years as we tried to make it the old fashioned way in a passenger van, sleeping on floors. So I don't think I will ever been done with them but I do think I would like to also explore a solo album because a whole lot of doors have opened up because of the show. Suddenly I am getting offers to go here and do this and that. I think the show worked for me."

Oh, okay. Thanks. I was scrolling through here and got a generalized tone of ppl not being happy with one another so it kind of colored how things were reading after that..

Yeah, it is a little wishy washy as to his movie soundtrack deal. Like I said upthread, the only thing I remember is that they'd me using TGM already recorded stuff.

I hope great things happen for Paul. He was one of my early favorites and I want him to succeed with whatever comes his way. He seems like the nicest guy in the world and deserves his break in the industry. So, much good wishes to Paul and that great smile of his!
